40kDestiny's Space Wolves: The Skywarriors Great Company

Hello fellow hobbyists! Welcome to my little blog of "By the Emperor that is a disturbing amount of money," Space Wolves. I originally had a Space Wolves army that I was semi okay with, and then I found B&C. I have people like KrautScientist, Terimus, The Insane Psychopath, The Observer, and many, many more to thank for indirectly teaching me hobbyist skills I did not even know existed, which prompted me to start my army from scratch. Now I am ready to bare my fangs if you will. (Oh yes puns are involved too.) Without further ado, I present the Skywarriors Great Company.

"Sven Bloodhowl now lies in red snow... and the lots have been cast for his successor. Drein Bladedancer step forward."

"In the name of Russ and the Allfather, as Great Wolf of the Vlka Fenryka, I give you the mantle of Wolf Lord. Choose the name of your new Great Company."

"The Skywarriors. We shall take the name that we heard tale of since we were pups."

"My first request as Wolf Lord, Great Wolf, is the release of two Wulfen into the custody of my company."

"Only two? Name them."

"Charlamagne the Bloody and Monarch, Terror's Eye."

"So be it."

The backstory looks promising. May I ask what's draped over the Wolf Lord's shoulders and backpack? I usually see Space Wolves wearing wolf skins as capes.

Drein decided to forgo the cape for extra mobility, he is already the size of a terminator and did not need anything else slowing him down. The actual pelts on his shoulders and powerpack are the portions of the Fenrisian Mammoth he helped kill on his first hunting expedition with his packmates in his early days of being a Space Marine. His pack died while retreating from Cadia, he only escaped because the Pack Leader ordered him to guide a group of survivors onto a shuttle. So in one engagement he lost his entire pack, his Wolf Lord, and a good 60-70 percent of his Great Company, making the pelts all he has left of what once was.

I have had the Wulfen I referenced in the first post done for a while, but I wanted to finish fine tuning the picture taking process. Now that I have a Photobucket account and know how to use it, I present the Twins, Charlamagne and Monarch.

"Why two specific Wulfen, aren't they all pretty much the same once they go mad?"

"I watched the Wulfen rampage across Cadia. They were an uncontrollable force of nature and bestial in everything they did, long far gone from sanity."

http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p493/40kDestiny/20170626_154639_zpscd9xj0tr.jpg

"Aye, like a Bloodclaw hunting for glory times the number of greenskins on Armageddon. I am asking what makes these two out of em' all different."

They came upon the cells for the Wulfen, some slept, some grappled against the bars howling and frothing, others just stared. In between the cells of bestial insanity and true psychopathy, were the two cells they sought. As they got closer, they heard among the madness, whistling. A simple tune, but one that required more sanity than a Wulfen had.

"SHUT UP YA MUTTS, I'M TRYING TO SLEEP." The Warden watched as a Wulfen leaned against the bars whistling, while the other lay on the floor looking at the ceiling, attempting to sleep. Apparently failing as he continued to voice his discontent. They were identical. "I said I was on Cadia, and I saw the Wulfen. I also saw two soldiers among them."

"Two pieces of sanity among madness. Among those who lost their minds, there were two who could pop the head off a traitor at maximum range and then tear apart a daemon who got too close with the same tenacity as the Wulfen around them." The one on the floor stood to his feet, the other stopped whistling. "They were a pack all their own."

"Quite the high praise, Lord Drein. So. What would you have our noble duo here do?" He smiled. "I want to talk to them for a bit, and if we come to an agreement, give them full freedom to roam the halls of the Fang." Never losing his grin the Warden stood there as they brokered terms, hiding the shock that these two could speak so fluently.

"Your a Wolf Lord, eh? The losses on Cadia were worse than I thought then." "Aye, we both knew the losses would be great, but never expected three Wolf Lords and a majority of their companies to be killed in one engagement. That hasn't happened since the Crusade." The Twins were both standing in front of the cell now. "Lets talk, Lord Drein. The dead need avenging, and we cant do that in here."

Interesting conversions for the Wulfen.

Thanks. I always had the idea for them in my head, and their backstory and design took a lot of different forms, but eventually they ended up like this. I'm running them as Terminators instead of actual Wulfen, the one with a Plasma Pistol on his hip uses the rules for a Combi-Plasma and a Lightning Claw, the other uses rules for a Storm Bolter and a Lightning Claw.
