Page 173 – Deathwatch Kill Team, Abilities Change the last sentence of the Mixed Unit rule to read: ‘For the purposes of determining what models a vehicle can transport, Terminators have the Terminator keyword, Bikers do not have the Infantry keyword, and instead have the Biker keyword and Vanguard Veterans have the Jump Pack keyword.’ Change the Vanguard Strike rule to read: ‘Vanguard Veterans can move across models and terrain as if they were not there. In addition, when a Deathwatch Kill Team that includes any Vanguard Veterans Falls Back, it can shoot later that turn as if it could Fly.’

Page 174 – Deathwatch Terminators Change the Crux Terminatus rule to read: ‘Models in this unit have a 5+ invulnerable save.’

Page 177 – Corvus Blackstar, Transport Add the following sentence: ‘It cannot transport Primaris models.’ Page 203 – Space Marine Points Values, Lords of War Add the following text beneath ‘Points Per Model’: ‘(Including Wargear)’

Page 204 – Space Marine Points Values, Other Wargear Add the following line: ‘Ironclad assault launchers | 5’

Page 215 – Blacksword missile launcher Change the Type to read ‘Heavy 1’.

Page 219 – Glacius Change the ability to read: ‘If a model suffers any unsaved wounds from this weapon but is not slain, roll a D6; on a 6, the target suffers a mortal wound.’

Page 220 – Units table Change the models per unit value for Deathwatch Bikers to read ‘3-6’. Change the models per unit value for Deathwatch Terminators to read ‘5-10’. Change the models per unit value for Deathwatch Vanguard Veterans to read ‘5-10’.

I scratch my head at the correction on page Page 174. I mean, it's clear, but I wonder why this warranted clarification when it really goes without saying that 5+ Invul is something every Terminator has.

For Page 177, at first I thought this goes without saying. But I can't help but feel that after seeing the Primaris Librarian and Captain being made playable for Deathwatch, their transports will be as well.

Increase squad cap for Terminators and Vanguard Veterans? Not a very important change for me, but a welcome one.

Page 173 just cements my impression that there are those who are willing to twist the rules to suit their ends to the point where it becomes nonsensical at a glance. Reminds me of that one Youtube comment I read thinking that Abaddon and Guilliman can be joined in a single detachment just because they both have ASTARTES for a keyword, even though the Faction keywords never made mention of that.

For Deathwatch, this was probably the most worthless FAQ ever.

Edit: Also to people worried about single bikers and such, don't worry. That note was also essentially pointless because in the RuleBook, it nows says

Change the second paragraph to read:
‘If you are using Power Ratings, you must still pay the
Power Rating cost as if you had a minimum-sized unit,
even though it contains fewer models. If you are using
points, you only pay the points for the models you
actually have in an understrength unit (and any wargear
they are equipped with). An understrength unit still
takes up the appropriate slot in a Detachment.’

I'm sure most people can instantly see how this can now be severely abused to get unlimited Command Points. Does GW not think?

Hmmm..... I got a vague picture of it in my mind. But what about the restrictions on how many detachments can a player be allowed to field depending on point range? It may be a set of guidelines but it'll at least lessen the chances of getting way too many command points.

I can see this being open to exploits, however, I am also curious as to what examples can we go by should this rule be taken advantage of.

Take an "understrength" kill team with no veterans, but a combo of bikers and vanguard veterans. If done right, you could have a unit with a 12" move, majority T5, and can charge and shoot after leaving combat. AWESOME. There are other combos out there but its is the best one IMO. Also take understrength units of plain terminators and vets to get around the minimum number of models again.

... although now that i've said this I'm sure GW will kill it. Trying to remain optimistic but it seems to me more and more that Deathwatch is taking over the Blood Angels as the red-headed-step-child of marines this edition.

One understrength unit per army. Sky isn't falling. In other news...

While I find the whole idea hilariously stupid and will not do it, what limits it to 1 per army? Sure, usually it's one of each type per army because more than one gets combined into one. But for veteran less kill teams that shouldn't happen, since there are no veteran models to combine. Or am I missing something?

What do they mean by "one type"? Does the "type" mean the Role like Troop, Elite, HQ,m etc? Or does "type" mean the model, like Tactical Squad, Devastators, etc?

One would think the former would be it, but they have a pretty bad track record of going with what makes the most "sense". If it's the latter, and since Imperium are one big family now, I can pull cheap units from every faction available to fill in any empty slots on the cheap. There is generally a restriction of 3 Detachments, but with this method I can probably fill 3 Brigades. That's 30 CPs; more than enough for one match.

I wouldn't do this because it's stupid, but I imagine this will happen somewhere.

Corvus not being able to transport Mr primaris makes me sad, I don't understand why none of the normal transports can fit primaris, Either GW wants people to buy new stuff or they think people will bitch and moan about "clown cars". I'm going to talk to my gaming group to see if they'll let me anyway.

I'm not seeing how you can take an 'understrength' kill team with no veterans, without the kill team veterans you have instead a 'understrength' squad of bikers and a 'understrength' squad of vanguard veterans.

From reading the understrength entry in the rulebook, you could field a single understrength kill team but you'd need a minimum of 1 veteran to field it. Furthermore you'd need to ensure that all your other killteams had only five killteam veterans otherwise your opponent could point out the fact you obviously have enough veterans to field it at normal strength.

From my reading of the rule its the latter, so in the case of Deathwatch it'd be one understrength kill team, one understrength bike squad, etc.

A player could indeed use the Imperium faction rule for now to gain those command points, but I'd imagine once codexs hit the shelves with specific detachment bonuses/buffs a mixed 'understrength' detachment will lose out on these buffs. Also against horde armies, small 'understrength' squads are going to struggle to contest objectives, infict casualties with shooting and not be overwhelmed in combat.

This makes me think that we'll soon see Primaris Marines for the deathwatch as even without the FAQ the Corvus can only carry DEATHWATCH keyword INFANTRY.

Edit: Sorry for double post, clicked the wrong box, if neccessary can a moderati move this into above post?

you can't field 2 (or more) squads of veterans and have 1 be a single model (or understrength)

because then you could have played them as a single squad, so break the requirement of being unable to field a min squad

you can only field 1 under strength unit for each unit option because of this, and it restricts that squad to being your only squad of that type

I'd have to agree this FAQ leaves a lot to be desired.  Hopefully it's only a first iteration, though it's nice to have the Kill Team situation clarified.
