RIP Bran Redmaw

On the bright side, SW now have access to a few vehicles that were Dark Angels + Space Marines only:

Specifically: Chaplain Dreadnoughts, Mortis Dreadnoughts, Contemptor, and Contemptor Mortis.

(though Space Wolves did have their own version of the Contemptor).

I dont think we have access to any of those. Pg. 130 doesnt list any of them. Edited by Caldersson

The faq specified we can change the keyword of most forgeworld vehicles to space wolf. It is so clearly intended that we do have access that defending the øage 130 argument is a bit silly, especialy since the index lists no forgeworld units at all and the forgeworld index has nonsinilar page to page 130.

Check the FW FAQ. He is gone as we knew him

He's not gone! He rules as lord of the Underfang. He's been busy training his great company in a new style of warfare, while learning wisdom from dreadnoughts.

That's why I said "...as we knew him."

Given Cawl has been fixing the worst of the flaws in geneseed (while leaving idiosyncrasies) and given that the Primaris treatment can be applied to existing Marines - maybe Bran was one of the first to volunteer for treatment, having grown to dislike his monster transformation?

That's a way to justify having a generic Primaris Captain be Bran.

The idiosyncrasies were the canis helix. It seems cawl merely put the our geneseed back to its original 30k state. So we probably have wulfen still but maybe not as rampant.

I don't normally deal with FW stuff so a little clueless there. So FW has contemptor dreadnoughts, but page 130 does not state we can have contemptor dreadnoughts. So are we allowed contemptors? I am thinking yes since Pg 130 doesn't directly say we can't have it.

I really hope our codex clarifies a fwe things without the need for a bunch of FAQ's to reference.

They are different.

First of all, never confuse Games Workshop material with Forgeworld material. As a general rule, FW stuff will not be published in GW stuff, and vice versa. As such, if you need to know anything about a GW rule or a FW rule, check the respective books.

Second, the Contemptor in the GW Index is a standard Contemptor. In the FW Index there are 2 different contemptors, neither a standard contemptor. There is the Mortis Contemptor and the Relic Contemptor.

The way Forgeworld decided to fix what army can take what, is also different from GW. GW has a list of units for certain armies they can take (by changing the <Chapter> keyword to that respective army).

Forgeworld instead skips the list entirely, and simply states which units can change their <Chapter> Keywords to what army. As far i read, most if not all non-unique units can become <Space Wolves>.

That is less confusing now thank you. Normally I ignore FW stuff because of the Resin, but some of my newly favorite models are from FW, such as the Leviathan Dreadnought. To be able to use it with no problems sounds great. Do they fulfill the same roles like the GW models. Such as Dreadnoughts are a Elite role.

Most of the time. Although a few vehicles in the FW index to have strange battlefield roles atm. Several of the relic tanks are elites, rather than the heavy support I'd expect.

Well, it is a heck of a change considering he now no longer becomes the "Red Maw" from which he was named as he did in the IA books.

Can only hope this changes when they do another update to IA11.
