First R&H Painting Bash Thread - Submit your vows

Cool stuff, I like those chaos heads, I just trimmed the horns off mine (can't have my little minions looking more grand than their plague marine masters!).

Any plans for a specific covenant?

Also, I got my malefic lords primed and rarin' to go, but I am leaving the house for a week... might bring my paints, but that can get janky. My progress may be somewhat slowed... :c

Definitely Tzeentch, love the blue and silver colour scheme and the overwatch bonus is really nice. Plus, I am running 4 Psykers, so it just feels right. Thought about doing Slaaneshi but decided against it. I am leaving the full horns on on the Marauders, my Disciples/Cultists mostly have hoods and bandannas, I already have quite a few of those put together and painted.

I got my shotguns from space Marine scouts. I'm also liberally moving in horn blowers and standards into my Marauders squads to reduce the need for them a little. Luckily i had a bunch of unassembled scouts lying around from an abandoned project.

Those are some great conversions, very inspired. Just a question for everyone really, where do you get shotguns from for your renegades, as finding enough to equip a full squad is proving impossible for me?

GSC Neophytes primarily. If you google 40 shotgun conversion or Imperial guard shotgun coversion thee are lots of easy ones. With a lasgun (esp Catachan pattern) simply removing the magazine and muzzle can make a fairly convincing shotgun.

Id like to add my current R&H goal is finish putting together at least 2*10 Disciples 2*5 sniper stalker Marauders, and 2*5 Plasma Heretek Marauders then paint it up, along with My built Commander and Malefic Lord... But with staycation time coming up I think I can finish building it this weekend.

It is taking far longer than I expected to get the parts for those marauders in, I have started building a Daemon engine/walker of some kind, maybe a Decimator or a Leviathan, out of spare Panzer III parts and Sentinel bitz. Will have pictures of it, very WIP, later.

So, this isn't a vow, as these chaps have been done for a little while. But I wanted to drop by and share. A little inspiration can go a long way to motivation, so hey, maybe this'll help out (Plus, it's a good excuse to showcase my work, heh.). Keep fighting the good fight, and painting the good paint. For the Dark Gods, brothers.

Behold the Changemongers of Tachylite.

Hah, thanks all. The orange was simple: if I recall correctly, just a layer of Fire Dragon Bright over the base of Ushabti bone I used for the rest. Shade with Seraphim sepia, add some touch ups, and done. As for the color... so, all of my Chaos marines are either dark blue or cerulean, with dark or black secondary colors. I wanted to have something of a stark contrast to that, so I went with light colors and bright orange. Beyond that, I've always found orange to be one of the underused colors in Tzeentch's schemes. If you're curious about the Changemongers I've got a suite of tales about them in the Inspiration Friday threads.

Praise the Father of Filth, my enforcers are complete! My slack-jawed freaks and diseased psychotics can stay the course thanks to judicious use of high-intensity plasma.

Only got two close shots, the third fellow's photos were far too blurry.
Clearly I need to work on steadying my aim.

Got some mutant squads to finish, and I whipped up a couple of renegade ogryn the other day. I will take/post pictures later when it isn't crazy dark. Ave Chaotica!

I have gotten my Commander done and one squad of Marauder's drying, so i am a good way there. I dont have pictures of the Marauders, but i do have one of Captain Skeletor.

Dirty Yellow Bastard that he is.

EDIT: Now that I am looking at a super close up of him, I can actually see that I more or less forgot to do his gloves. I will be fixing that tomorrow.

My basic Marauder fluff is that they were some version of Imperial Storm Trooper (not scions, but more like the DKoK's engineers, trench warfare specialists) sent off to fight for the Imperium. After decades of fighting they return to find their home world destroyed via Imperial Exterminatus for "Heresy", which was likely a clerical error on some scribes part. Knowing nothing but warfare for decades they kill their commisars, and make a living with war, their only real skill. Hatred for the Imperium which destroyed their homeworld drives them to work for whatever chaos band can pay them the best.

Their former specialization as heavy infantry is reflected in their heavier than standard human armor (hereteks discipline). Their military training, doctrine, and organization accounts for their relatively uniform appearance and semblance of military bearing. Their hatred of the Imperium and continued lust for money accounts for their relatively good morale on the battlefield. Each is armed with a combat shotgun, a weapon suited for close in trench warfare. Combat shotguns are effective, easy to maintain, and cheap to load.

I enjoy that creating a traitor army requires an extra step of fluff development: you need to decide why and how your ragged band turned rogue.

It actually might be fun to make a 'meet the heretic' thread that can feature introductory bits of backstory.

Lol Meet the Heretics sounds cheesy. I was thinking more like a Segmentums Most Wanted, something Imperial bounty hunters and Inquisitors might review.

Im fixing to do an army thread soon. Making huge progress in my painting, except this week due to catching Nurgles flu X P

I kinda pictured 'meet the heretics' as a propaganda tagline- 'Meet the heretic! Loathe the heretic! Slay the heretic!'

Or maybe I subconsciously mangled the 'We have met the enemy and he is us,' which I kind of like.

Meet the Heretics sounds like a canceled sitcom, and I am perfectly fine with that!
*canned laughter*

First one to make it can name it whatever they want, so... I nominate Kinstryfe :P

As for the army blog, I have a languishing thread in the Chaos Astartes section, but that subforum is popping thanks to the new codex and I don't want to be doomed to further ignominy. Curse my hubris. Maybe a fresh start in the WIP is the way to go.
