Hi all. I've lurked B&C for some time and figured I'd join up. Reddit can only get me so far with my 40k fix.
I've been into the hobby for about a year and consider myself a hobbyist first and gamer second. I really enjoy building and converting. I may become a gamer first with 8th being so streamlined. I've only played one game so far but my work/life balance has recently changed so I should have more time to game.
I chose Raven Guard when I started because I love their lore and what I perceive to be their play-style. I was really stoked to see their chapter focus recently because it fits in line with what I think the army should do. I picked up a Calth box and quickly jumped into the hobby with both feet.
There's a small story about a RG detachment getting destroyed on an Eldar maiden world called Barran. My army is themed around a force that has traveled to the world ~100 years later to search for a lost relic and to exact revenge on the Eldar. My basing reflects that world and has a lot of water, grassland, and dirt/mud elements to it based on descriptions I could find of the world.
I feel an introduction isn't proper without some pictures so here you go:
First figure I painted:
60 and 40mm bases:
Magnetized and converted Contempor Dreadnought, probably my favorite model I have right now:
Raven Guard have to have their scouts! Woodland Camo pattern to blend in with the world of Barran:
Lastly the current 40mm bases I'm working on for my Inceptors. I played around with Realistic Water and having 'blood' in it. So for so good:
