FINAL SCORE

BIEL-TAN: 9

BLOOD ANGELS: 0

A sad day for Baal.

Lessons learned:

spectacular as the charge from deep strike was (I rolled 11, 10, 10 and 9 to bring the Guard, Libby and Priest all into combat), this left them in a vulnerable position with so many of the Eldar still being in that half of the battlefield. This was compounded when the Red Thirst took me and I attempted to make another assault the following turn, when I should have counted my blessings and fallen back to a defensive position – especially as the Priest can revive one squad member per turn (and indeed did so once).

In general I also spread my forces out too much and should have kept everything tighter, units supporting each other. I forgot until the last turn that Rhinos can charge (and thus eat Overwatch!). I also kept forgetting my Command Points and ended the game with 6 out of 7 un-spent…

Great report and photos! Also, your forces are looking amazing!

Something to keep in mind for future games is the following: Objectives! Objectives are super important and how the game is won. If you have 1 model left at the end of the game but are up on VP then you win.

Also, it seemed you were running your force piece-meal into the enemy firing line. It is okay to throw out bait units to try can out maneuver your opponent and get them in a bad position where you can fire more at a target then they can fire at but it is difficult against armies as fast as Eldar.

I also think that the scouts were deployed too far forward. I would keep them back, they have really good range and you can move them into a better firing position and still fire in 8th ed so putting them way out in the front with sniper rifles was a pretty rough spot for them, even with camo cloaks and cover.

I wanted to say again how fantastic I think your painting is! I can only hope that I can produce miniatures of that quality in the future.

Thanks both!

Aothaine, not all of those models are finished, but you can see more on my blog [/shameless plug]

You're right about the Scouts... there was no other elevated position to put them, but I should have just held them back and moved into position when it was safer. Same with the one Rapier that got destroyed turn 1. I put them 12" from my back line because they have 60" range, but his Walkers move 10" and have 36" guns so he was able to get close enough to pop one. The other one performed admirably though!

In general I think I spread out too much, and should have moved forward in one blob (kinda like my opponent did).

We'll be having a rematch in a few weeks so I need to do better, for the honour of the chapter!
