TC's WIPs - Back with some GSC

Recommended Posts

Hi, this will be the start of my WIP thing. It'll include WIPs of what I'm currently doing, mostly between my Dark Eldar and my new army: Sons of Orar.

I've started these guys for the Fate of Konor campaign at my local GW store.

I'm not a great painter but hopefully I will be able to improve with some helpful tips from you guys and most importantly: Practice.

I have started with a test on a tactical marine and I have come up against my first two problems; the british weather and bumpy surfaces on shoulder pads. It was warm and sunny when I went to undercoat the first squad and as soon as I left, the wind picked up and got a little bit colder. It's not hugely visible but there are bubbles in the undercoat in some places. The shoulder pads are from Shapeways which I bought about a year ago and I didn't realise the texture of them isn't right until I started painting.

C&C very welcome

EDIT: I'm just going to use normal shoulder pads and either use transfers or brass etchings from forgeworld.

I have finished another tactical marine. It's still WIP and would appreciate C&C

And I also replaced the custom Shoulder pad, on the first marines, with a normal pad which I think looks a  lot better

Unfortunately motivation hasn't been too high so I haven't really painted any more than I have.

I have managed to build a contempter dread and Sicarius + Tiberius proxies. I absoultely love the old libraian sculpt and I'm suprised that it still holds up against the newer models, height wise.

The First tactical squad are completed and ready to go, just need to be based and a few touch ups. The Sicarius conversion has been started still a long way to go.

Progress! Finally. The Sicarius count as is mostly done, I just need to tidy some things up and do a couple more highlights. The cape needs more washes to be darker and some highlights too.

Probably the model I'm most proud of so far.

Any pointers on this would be great.

Sicarius is looking good. You should be feeling proud. I would recomend a was under the eyes and around the mouth to add a little more depth to the face. I think the cloak is looking good buddy. Maybe look at adding a wash to recesses on the metals instead. Great looking piece though. Keep up the good work.

The Captain looks great! What name will you give him? "Sicarius Bickle, First Captain of the Sons of Orar, namesake of the Honorable Cato Sicarius"?

I, CATO SICARIUS... I'm not sure what I'll call him. I'll be continuing with the Roman-Greek theme that the Ultras have. In the 7th ed Codex there was an example of a Vet Sgt of the Sons of Orar called Decimus or something similar, so I might use something like that.

Thanks man, I gave the undereyes a couple of washes of carrosberg crimson to give him some depth and also coloured the sword node blue and washes the sword with blue a couple of times. I'll try get some pictures up when I get back

I've finished the Tigurius count-as, I'm happy with how he turned out. All I need to do is base him and he's done. Maybe some tidy ups here and there. C&c very welcome

I've just gotten another camera so I'll be posting some better pictures that show better detail, the only downside is that I now spot so many more mistakes. Oops...

I'll be starting work on more of my dark eldar tomorrow hopefully and hopefully start on some vehicles. Progress on my Sons of Orar has slowed considerably as I seem to have caught the AoS deathrattle bug...
