Interest in a rogue trader campaign? Char creation updated

Rogue Trader - i've played a few games in the past (an augmentist trader and a foppish navigator). The local DMs never quite got the hang of it as the characters capabilities were so far apart when it came to combat, social, and ship-based activities.

I'm working on building a character now. Slow going, because it's been a long time since I've played and I'm kinda relearning it all over again.

I've rolled my way through the Origin path. I know you can select your way down, but I like the randomness of rolling the path already through.

So far I'm a Child of Dynasty, Born To Lead. I'm a Zealot, who's plundered a Rogue Planet and is Heir Apparent.

Given all that, I feel like the most appropriate classes would be the Rogue Trader himself, the Seneschal or the Void-Master. I'll save that decision for later. I don't want to roll up as a Rogue Trader if the group doesn't want a PC Rogue Trader, and I like to pick classes around the rest of the party anyway.

Here's what I've got so far: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WoeTVpSdbOfrTeNPV0MOWiTPclBSq3bjSep8PVSZ7aY/edit?usp=sharing

Forgot the name: Dafydd Cadeyrn

If spots are available, I think a navigator is about my (roleplaying) speed

Victris Holt - 'the false man'.

Bred and raised under shadowed circumstances and the auspices of a minor house and magos of the mechanicus in an effort to push further beyond the light of the astronomicon, one of several such experiments amongst an explorator fleet ultimately forced back to Imperial space after a series of improbable ill-fortune and turbulent warp transits.

I was torn between Explorator and Navigator but with that one seemingly well covered I think I will go with the Explorator.

If everyone is fine with that, I would add a bit "liberal" leanings and maybe have the character tied to the creation of our navigator's genetic legacy. My char could be from a Explorator covenant involved in the tweaking of a far reaching navigator line ... maybe have that linked to thecampaign goal of recovering an ancient imperial vessel in as far as there are indications that that vessels navigator might have some genome traits which would be desirable for that outcome or fixing the current model?

Since I'm lining up to Playing Arch-Militant, I might leave the bit where she meets the Rogue Trader, if we have a PC play them, open for them to fill out.

Otherwise, theres going to be contact with Chaos and Orks somewhere in her back story (to account for the Hatred Talents) and lots and lots of stuff dying.

...Also possibly nabbing Bolt Pistols from Comissars she served under while in the Guard. Or something :p

So if I am correct there are two completed characters

Slips Arch-militant

AT Navigator

And two in progress characters

Conn rogue trader/ schenschal/ void master

Xin explorator

Xin I have no issues with you being a more radical member of the priesthood of mars. Rogue trader crews tend to attract those with unorthodox views.

So here are my char stats for review

(Apologies for non-spoiler, mobile doesn't seem to like it)

Attributes:

WS 38, BS 35, STR 36, Tough 35, AG 35, INT 52, PER 42, WP 32, FEL 35

(Switched WP / INT, re-rolled AG)

Career: Explorator

Home World: Forgeworld (Explorator Fleet)

Origin: Fringe (Heretek, Medicae, Chem-Use, Corruption 6)

Motivation: Knowledge is Power (Foresight, Scholastic Lore: Navis Nobilite)

Lure: New Horizons (Technoarcheologist, Heirloom: Armour of the Saint ... well..Magos)

Trial: Dark Voyage (Forbidden Lore - Pirates, Resistance -Fear, Insanity 4)

Basic Explorator Skill and Talents as given (obmitted for space)

Additional starting Skills/ Talents: Awareness, Autosanguine, Secret Tongue - Tech, Trade: Armourer

All starting XP spent

Starting Gear as Listed with ranged option towards Hellgun (Best) and undecided between Power Axe and Shock Staff ( leaning towards the latter)

Confused by the bionics choices- book says two "common items" but bionics are all "rare" ?!

Also need to check for other starting gear.

Thoughts? Questions?

Edited: Forgot Trade skill, changed Forbidd Lore to Pirates as seems for fitting for a fringe Explorator

Alright, here's my updated character, think I've got everything: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HpMtv78AEianyUSoxZSmnfC1Ox09ii_W6ksHM8TFacQ/edit?usp=sharing

I'll do something light with his backstory sometime this week. BC, I'm going to message you with some of the stuff it says to work with the GM on.

I am fairly busy Friday so the gameplay thread will likely be started on Saturday. I will also open another thread that will only be for people to post their character information to, that way there will be an easy location for everyone to find that. I will try to keep the OP of that thread updated with information about important NPCs and locations.

I have my own time constraints coming up as well. Sunday through Tuesday I will be at a conference in San Diego. Even outside the conference, I'll be busy networking.

Won't have the sourcebooks, but will have my phone and maybe post small updates at the end of the night.

Alright, here's my updated character, think I've got everything

Planning on bumping one of your high stats to agil or running the charismatic second in command type (especially with your background) ?

Yyyyes. Thank you for reminding me. I want to keep my social 40's & 50's where they are, so I'll swap out my WS.

Update! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cgK1VimeyYn35VWoQSxZi2lYmsu8eF9h2A0euF4OK44/edit?usp=sharing

Background!

Dafydd might not have been born on Auntie's ship, but he pretty much was raised on it. The actual ship Dafydd was born on is a long-cold wreck, orbiting about some uncaring star. Auntie lost a younger brother that day, and little Dafydd his parents. Auntie took him in as her ward, and he's been a constant presence aboard her vessel ever since. Never let it be said that dear old Auntie plays favorites however, for Dafydd's earliest responsibilities was as deckswab. Of course, no dynasty child would ever be left in such a position, and as Dafydd grew he was given various tasks throughout the ship. From the engine room to the culinarium, from the augur's nest to the gunnery decks, Dafydd developed an intimate familiarity with the ship and its functions, but also with its crew. There were those who sought to curry the favor of the rogue trader's nephew, and others still who resented his presence among them, as if a mockery of their hard work. Both were quickly disabused, for Dafydd prefers finding favor on the strength of his work, and surrounding himself with others of like minds.

While granted, Dafydd's relationship with his aunt wasn't such that he could change the fates of crew members solely because they were nice or mean to him, he nonetheless did have a profound impact on the crew. A common fixture of the bridge for a fair few years now, most of the crew still treat him as one of their own. A fair few of Dafydd's ship urchin cohort now occupy key positions throughout the ship, among others of the crew whose competency Dafydd had spoken for as he rose through the ranks.

Though his many tasks were varied, he has developed a knack for piloting and often mans the helm. His responsibilities have not been restricted solely to his aunt's ship either. After catching the scent of a rogue planet, Dafydd led the expedition to track it down and investigate. What records remained intact on the frozen ball of rock indicated it was the lost Imperial world of Apotheta, from the Taugetus System. A Biologis research world, it had been cast from its solar course when a nearby warpstorm disrupted Taugetus's gravitational hold on its planets. Apotheta held many riches in the form of gene-bank data, though much of it was fragmented or corrupted. The magos of Apotheta were fascinated with Mankind's evolutionary divergences, and each facility was a veritable treasure trove of data on non-baseline human breeds, from navigators to ogryns. A nomad world is a hostile environment, both for those on the surface and ships in near-orbit. Whispers in the wind-less air warned of even darker dangers. The expedition plundered what it could, and left the lifeless orphan to its eternal wander. It was well after however, that the whispers ceased.

So Conn's background has him visiting a rogue planet that contains research facilities connected to things that interest both our Navigator and Explorator (namely being gene-modifying navigators among others).  Does it make sense for the rogue trader to have recruited these specialists before or after visiting the rogue planet?
