Emperor protect my wallet...

Recommended Posts

But I just bought a squad of five sisters (all bolter nuns). Now the quest to find special weapons and a sister superior begins. At least Immolators are reasonably priced!

I'm adding a squad of Sisters to my marine (Wolves) for a bit of extra colour, any recommendations on what I should supply them with? I was thinking filling my special/heavy slots with flamers for some nice Genestealer purging, is this viable in a five girl squad backed up by an Immolator? Or should I load up on storm bolters?

I usually go with anti-tank Dominions loaded with meltaguns, give my BSS flamers for objective holding, and HB Rets to control areas with anti-infantry/anti-transport shooting.

Generally speaking the Immolator is best armed with the same sort of weapon that the squad carries, to align their mission. So melta Doms ride in a Twin MM Immo, and so forth.

Everyone is talking up storm bolters, but I haven't tried it this edition.

Excellent... more Sisters players can only be a good thing!  If you get keen on melta guns, I can highly recommend these conversion bits:  https://www.trolls.cz/collections/conversion-corner/products/melta-gun-conversion-bit

I've just bought and assembled 2 sets for myself (for 8 melta gun nuns).  Bolter sisters are typically easier to find (and cheaper) than special weapons, and these bits work really well.  It helps to add some variation to the single melta pose that is currently available from GW.

Other than that, I agree with what has been said here, though for the Immolator, I just love the Immolation flamer regardless of what's inside. 2d6 autohits with 12" and it's an assault weapon so you can advance and shoot (and still autohit).

I don't agree with this. My melta squads tend to ride in a flamer Immolator and my flamer squads in a melta Immolator. My storm Bolter squads vary their vehicle depending on what the army needs more of.

My current favourite load out is: Storm bolter, Storm bolter, Multi-melta, 2x bolters, in an Immolation Immolator.

Cheers for the advice folks!

I did wonder about doing a Dominion squad, then my bank account cried, though its something I plan on building up to. I do want to try and buy as much as I can justify from GW, to show them that we still love the Sisters, though given that I bought the squad on a whim I'm not ready to throw £60 at a single squad just yet, which may be an issue with Sisters :-/

I'm not sure on an Order yet, I kind of want to homebrew one, red-headed pyromaniacs? But then I can't have an Ephrael proxy, and given as its her fault I lIKE the Sisters so much, I kinda feel I should have at least a head nod.

As for sisters proxies...how do people feel about storm troopers with female heads? Novice-Initiates who haven't earned full combat honours (and thus P.A.) yet. Tempestus Scions would work well for this I feel.

One day I will finish an army before starting the next one!

I'm not sure that, in my opinion, Novices would be running around actual, full-on battlefields, but that's really just my opinion. You can do what you like.

My bigger issue is that if it's a Sister, it needs to have Shield of Faith and Act of Faith, and Scions have neither. That's the biggest issue I have as running them and fluffing them as Sisters, but again, that's reeeeally just me. It sounds like it could be a fun addition to your army. :)

And of course, the Ordo Hereticus of His most holy Inquisition is known to work closely with the Adeptus Ministorum (and Sisters in particular), and make extensive use of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers... which in my view is perfect justification for including Militarum Tempestus Scions Storm Troopers alongside your Sisters.

If your particular Storm Trooper regiment just happened to include all-female recruits, so much the better!

About 1/3 of my Scions have female heads. Of course in my fluff, it is because this Grenadier Regiment of a Shrine World works closely with the Order, and fluff wise aside from the Progenium (which they are cut off from) my Order will 'scout' the Regiment for badass females with all of the faith necessary for a Sister. Your mileage may vary; toss heads on any model you want and go at it!

Didn't think about the faith-crunch! I guess I'm viewing the idea of them being akin to SM Scouts. Part of the Order, but not full battle sisters. Still that idea is getting ahead of myself as for the moment  this is just a tag in squad for my Wolves. Still, the dreams of a full sisters army may one day come true.

I would run them either with the meltagun conversion kit in two of them or convert them to be stormbolters. Sternguard bolter drum magazine is a nice conversion. Someone posted pics in this forum, forget who?

Get them a transport and you are all set. Welcome to the ranks!

If you are planning on taking only one Sisters squad and vehicle along with your Space Marines, I'd make it a Dominion Squad in an Immolator. You can get six Sisters inside the vehicle, including the Dominion Superior. Since the Dominions can do their vanguard movement inside the vehicle, you get a 12" movement before either side starts their turn. They can hop out on their turn and really tie down advancing enemy units.  As for weapon loadouts for the squad and vehicle, I guess it depends on what your opponent typically fields. If he has lots of vehicles, I'd put the multimeltas on the Immolator, and give the squad at least one melta gun and a flamer. You also may want to consider giving the Dominion Superior a combi-flamer or combi-melta gun. I gave mine an Inferno Pistol at a game this weekend, and she blew the head right off a enemy captain she was locked in close combat with.

Retributors can get the really heavy weapons, but for a single squad, I think fielding them as Dominions would serve you best. Fluff-wise, I've read that the Ecclesiarchy would often send the Adepta Sororitas along with units of space marines for support, and to watch for signs of heresy. If you decide one of your squads of Space Wolves is just not feeling the love for the Emperor enough, you could always turn your Immolation flamers on them and burn that heresy right out of them!

As allies though the sisters units do have slightly different strengths - a single unit of heavy bolter retributors in a marine army is going to get that single point of faith all to itself every round making them far stronger than they would be in a pure sisters army.

Of course you can take both :p

I actually disagree here, about the immo. The immolation flamer is far and away the best option. If you want a tank to compliment the squad, repressors are much better at it. Immolators are best used tossing a squad off one way and then going off 12+d6 the other way and roasting some fools.

Taking multi-meltas just isn't worth it anymore, not with moving vehicles being at -1 not with the degradation chart, not with how bonkers amazing the immolation flamer is and not with the repressor doing the MM immo's job better.
