Winterdyne Style Truescale Marines

Recommended Posts

So, had a client ask me to truescale up some marines. Then the Primaris came out. A while later the client decided he didn't like them after all, and so I had a crack at this truescaling malarkey.

Here's the resultant first marine, some WIPS and a description of the process - the rest are being assembly lined out - by the end of this I should be quite good at sculpting soft joins on marine armour...

The torso is extended lengthwise (front to back) with a spacer, and a 3d printed belt (slightly wider, slightly taller) replaces the original. Belly is resculpted to match whatever the original torso was.

The legs are cut at the knees removing allĀ  'soft join', and the waist is sliced down the middle. 1mm Spacers are added under the feet and into the waist, and between the regular marine arms and the torso.

Soft joins are then resculpted according to pose, feet soles are resculpted, and the 'hard' armour of the upper leg is extended down slightly at the front.

Leaves you with this:

This is the deliverable for the client - torso, head, shoulder pads, backpack and legs/base are separate pieces for painting. The client is also going to add various belt pouches etc.

I'm fairly happy with it (as is the client). I think painted up it should look good enough.
