Any news from FW?

Looks actually horrible to me. The headcase-thingy / hood looks way too small, the head way too large for the body. Getting that beard to fit in a helmet will also be a nightmare.

I don't know - the proportions are way off. And compared to other cataphractii, he looks also very...uhm...slender.

Its just the legs looking so far apart which really makes it look slender as far as I can see.

The chainaxe and the dakka look pretty damn great. The head looks pretty detailed and nice, I thought it looked detachable until I saw a front view of the model.

I have a feeling these models are going to essentially Red Butchers in terms of pieces.

Head way too big, hair is okay, beard looks a tacked on mess

Legs too skinny and too far apart. Mini-Russ lower legs not too bad.

Shoulder pads look like some God-awful knock-offs. Not keen on the carved in detailing as it will make customisation really really hard.

I am hoping the arms are completely separate and other cata arms can get used.

The pelt bits are woeful.

Thank goodness this is the worst of the bunch (according to FW dude). Makes mew worried as to how they have executed the leather masks and the general design concept behind the slayers and deathsworn.

He doesn't look finished. This just doesn't look like FW quality. The detail on the shoulder is odd, the bolter is plain bad. The fur is... awkward, and the head is oversized compared to the armoured torso it's on.

I really hope this is a WIP varagyr, and not 1 of the finished 5.

The Geno Five-Two podcast managed to speak to a bunch of FW people at that event this weekend.

-Tony Cottrell says the target date for Angelus is end-of-year 2018.  They're stretched thin and want to catch up.
-When Inferno got delayed and still ended up messy, largely due to Alan Bligh doing too much himself while in treatment, FW realized they needed multiple main HH writers.  John French may be one of the HH-assigned writers but they are still looking for another one.
-No more releasing a black book without plans to release all the associated models shortly thereafter (which could mean within a year).  They are now mapping out all their releases a year in advance, rather than their previous ad hoc approach.
-GW wants to control release previews - they'll be on the Warhammer Community site rather than first seen at FW events.
-They're planning around one new Specialist Game per year (hence being stretched thin).  Necromunda this November, Titanicus next year.
-Necromunda will be more detailed than the original, and based on 8th edition rules with alternate activations. No real examples of that complexity other than extra skills tables. Like Blood Bowl, two plastic gangs in the box and resin expansions.
>They haven't started BFG 2.0 but Tony Cottrell would like to theme it on the battle above Terra and eventually work xenos fleets into the game system.
>There's a possibility that they'll revisit the red books in the near future.

Guess we'll be waiting for the HH weekender for any news about the game. We had about 20 is our area playing, book 7 caused a few to leave, and 8th pretty much finished the rest.

It's a shame so many people are affected by 8th almost killing heresy in what appears to be most areas. I have two clubs in driving distance to me that solely play heresy!

But on topic!

What they've shown at the open day is vary sparse, it's a shame GW proper us limiting fw to previewing their stuff to the community page, that's always been the (well one of) best things about FW, it's transparency, and without that I fear we will go to how GW proper operates, not knowing what's coming until "surprise! This is available for pre-order now!", which sucks for a lot of people who relied on said transparency to help save for said items the moment they get released, not having to wait indefinitely to save for them (if they are like me and get distracted by the new shinies that you an actually afford right now instead of in a year)

Ew, 8th edition?

Well, it seems I do not have to have it after all. More money to spend on the Heresy.

While I think there is some irony to what I'm about to say, there's some truth in it - all of the hardcore heresy players in my area, myself included, have jumped ship because 8th edition is just so much more fun and streamlined (much less my opinion than general consensus).

If FW doesn't hop over to 8th and get moving on releases, it will stagnate and die a premature death. Kind of a reverse of what happened with leaving 40k for 30k due to the system balance and gameplay.

This is what I am seeing as well.

Seems to be a regional thing.

And with region I mean country.

I know a LOT of german heresy players and none of them switched to 8th.

Some do play it but the main interest is still the HH.

Maybe it's because we understood HH almost like a historical tabletop while in other countries like Murica it is played only like an additional codex.

Like regular 40k with all it's flaws.

We have the opposite happening in our community, but I agree that 8th is the new hotness. I'd wager that once the Heresy Rules are released you'll see people going to the latest greatest.

Jeah, that seems to be right.

It's new so I have to play it.

Yeah, FW probably should have been a little bit faster with their HH rules, the longer they wait, the more players will bleed away to play 8th.

That may be exactly what GW wants though - wait a little so they can get everyone hooked on 8th, then get them back to the Heresy as well. Try and get people into both markets again.

I wanna know where Dorn & Alpharius are.

I believe they were last sighted on Pluto :P

But on the topic of 8th conversion news ... I understand that people want 'official' rules for various reasons - although what's stopping you from attempting home-brew conversions to 8th. Or, for that matter, picking up the attempt at same done by I believe Apologist.
