Ultramarines 1750 - first attempt at 30k

Recommended Posts

After realising my 40k ultramarines are nearly at an end I decided to start looking to build up a HH force, also i like painting blue.

HQ

Praetor - Iron Halo, Paragon Blade

Chaplain - Artificer Armour, Refractor Foeld

Master of signal - bare bones

Troops

Legion Tactical Squad (15) - vexilla, nuncio vox, meltabomb

Legion Tactical Squad [same as above]

Legion Support Squad (5) - plasmaguns, rhino w/ dozerblade

Elite

Invictarus Suzerain (5) - Thunderhammer ×1, Land Raider Phobos, Armoured Ceramite, Dozerblade

Heavy Support

Sicaran Battle Tank - Lascannons

Whirlwind Scorpius

The plan is to have the Praetor and Chaplain join the Suzerain in the Land Raider Phobos.

MoS joins the Support Squad in the Rhino.

Tactical Squads footslog up the table and get line of site for the scorpius to rain death upon targets, which they can then clean up to feel good about themselves.

Sicaran goes to work blowing up as much as it can before being turned to a molten heap.

Any C&C welcome, and unit recommendations for expanding are always good.

I'm a little worried about your foot sloggers man, depends on your opponent but I'm use to seeing dreads in drop pods which would annihilate those legion tacticals.

What rite of war do you plan on using? If you aren't using one I'd suggest you remove your praetor, try not to overspend on HQ in 30k.

If you're up against any fliers you'll struggle too, maybe consider a xiphon, looks sweet in blue...

Overall it's a cool list.

Yeah i never had much hope for the footsloggers to do anything except make the army look like a legion, i like them as a fluffy choice, but they can easily be changed to 10 man in rhinos.

I'm currently undecided on which RoW to use to be honest, so the praetor is there as a place holder for when i decide, in the long run i'd consider running Guilliman at higher points levels so i'd eventually be swapping him out.

Anti-air is definately a weak spot within the list due to running out of points, but adding AA is one of the first bases i aim to cover as i increase points.

At this points level I would seriously consider a squad of veterans, a squad of 10 plus transport comes under 225 points, a reduction on the number of shots you can put out however with the Marksmen special rule and 4 attacks each on the charge a unit of 10 can be a nice force multiplier.

For a HQ, you could consider the Delegatus as he has Master of the Legion and a MC power weapon.
