-----------------------

So my list has been evolving every week - it changes a little based on the battles I had and new units I get. The obvious one here being the repulsor.

I'm really looking for feedback about a couple factions: I played Grey Knights (1000 pts) and Mechanicus with the above list.

GK - For the Grey Knights, it was really just an intro game for a couple people we paired up with. I was pretty much getting wrecked. I couldn't push past his termies; and even though I had a double frag squad with a stalker bolter squad supporting, he was chipping away at my guys much faster. Any thoughts on dealing with termies/elite infantry? Is that going to be a combi-plasma squad type of situation? And is warlord had a 2+ invul save based on the new codex (psychic powers + normal invul?). It was kind of ridiculous.

Mechanicus - He did the standard cheese. Grabbed Cawl and bubble wrapped some kastelan robots with a couple dune crawlers. His dune crawlers wiped out my Repulsor in 2 shots, turn 1 (yup very first game with it... so the new shiny toy must die). My Corvus made it across the board and delivered troops. I got some shots off and killed a dune crawler, then lost it in turn 2. I was pretty much left with a rhino and razorback for objective capturing (cloak and dagger game type). I gave him a run for his money but he was wearing down my guys because I was forced to chase objective cards. Ended up being like 10 to 7 by turn 5 and we called it. I normally play with a drop pod and deep strike the big units but it would have hurt this game a little.

Any thoughts on overall deathwatch objective play? Should I just grab some naked kill teams with rhinos and send them forward, hoping for the best?

Any reason for the storm bolters, shotguns and IHB? Seems like weird choices when you're up against GK and AM. The regular SIA bolters probably would have outperformed all 3 of those against the two.

Woops, the storm bolters were fixed. IHB actually does well when my stalker group is being charged, as well as laying down some more shots @ 36". I have since switched to Missile Launchers. And the shotguns do pretty well actually - "flamer" profile for the big units and charges, re-roll wound profile for if further out and a chance for double damage on smaller multi-wound units. The list wasn't built specifically to take on those two factions, I just happened to face them. Looking for a middle-ground.

Now that looks almost exactly like my list, save for a few things. Less FC, more plasma, and more melee for laughs.

Why not spare the extra points and get a Razorback in place of your Rhino? None of your units need the extra capacity, and you can at least get a twin-HB for minimal extra costs.

Ya I might be able to do that. The squad with the shotguns and combi-melta is a fairly expensive squad and was originally designed to advance across the table because a lack of transports. Maybe I can drop the combi-flamer, combi-melta and FC for 3 more combi-plasma. I think the combi-plasmas will greatly increase flexibility against multiple factions. I could potentially lose some points on the Watch Capt as well since he can't use SIA.

That other heavy bolter razorback, I intended to leave in the back to support the stalker/missile kill team with the watchmaster.

The double FC kill team will ride the blackstar and get dropped off turn 2 - either ripping up elite infantry or sinking a big vehicle/MC. The other two were designed to ride around and do objectives or assault.

Thanks for the feedback so far Moostick.

That Veteran unit seems like a unit that wants to advance and shoot, so if it works for you a combi-plasma might ruin it. I just personally like combi-plasma more.

I also feel like your repulsor is not being fully utilized. It's an expensive transport, and it's being filled with cheap gas (Reivers). This is opposite of my past suggestions, but have you considered removing your combi-plasmas and taking a Hellblaster squad instead? The per model cost is essentially the same with better AP and more W, and since you're taking the repulsor anyways it'll solve their mobility issue.

It would be a tactics change for sure, but this list gets me a transport for each kill team. So it would be an ok change.

Hm... Ya I assumed they were too expensive and didn't check the cost. That extra wound is nice but I would lose the ability to fire the extra bolter. AND better range. Interesting.

The only issue I have with the repulsor is that it has massive firepower, and my opponent knows that. They will go after it first unless I can bait them with my blackstar. I mean, it may even be better choice to grab another blackstar with twin-las/rocket launchers/hurricane bolters.

Ran the most recent list again against Astra a couple days ago except I through in a Knight Paladin as well. I went up against a Hellhammer, 2 Leman Russ, 3 Basilisk, Wyvren and some other big tank; plus 2-3 infantry, an Aegis and a couple characters.

I won the game actually because of objectives/points but my issue is again, I lost my repulsor immediately. It got a shot in but missed. My Knight did a slightly better job but it too was immediately targeted. Not concerned about the Knight, I kinda of knew it was going to happen. I think I'm just going to ditch the repulsor and add in my second blackstar. At least my blackstars tend to last until turn two, drop my guys off near big threats and get some decent shots in.

The Reivers can grav-chute in as appropriate.
