Crimson Fists and Primaris Marines

So the fluff on what Guilliman does for Kantor and Company is really cool. I love the idea of the Chapter getting a new lease on life via being completely reinforced with the Primaris. So much so that I just had to start painting some Crimson Fists.

So question. How are you guys envisioning to paint the various Primaris units?

We know that the Intercessor picture in the Codex had just the left fist painted Crimson and Lieutenants have a red stripe on their helmet.

What about Aggressors? Do you believe they should get 1 or both fists painted Crimson? On one hand they are an elites choice. But on the other they have the heavy support designation. The Sgt model appears to have a Veterans cross on the model... but Games Workshop has not painted their Ultramarines Aggressors with white helmets either. So I am leaning to not painting both gauntlets Crimson.

It's the same situation with Rievers and Inceptors.

I believe Captains, Lts, and Primaris will have both Gauntlets painted red.

Thoughts?

See I am not so sure yet. If that were the case, would Rievers and Aggressors have white helmets for Ultramarines?

While they take up an elites slot, are they "Veterans" in the fluff sense of the word? I do not believe so, especially now that battle companies can have Rievers and Aggressors in them, as they are close support and heavy support squads respectfully.

I can see your position though. I wonder if we will eventually see true Veteran Primaris squads down the road.

The majority of primaris if not all are not Veterans so technically should only have the one hand crimson. However to designate that they are slightly more powerful I painted mine with 2 red hands bit didn't do the helms. What it boils down to is how you like them to look

I accidentally painted the gauntlets of my intecessors red. Prior to the codex, I assumed they would be elites. Debating if I will go back and paint the right one blue or leave it. The purist in me wants to repaint, but the practical side says it is done and looks decent so leave it alone.

There is nothing stopping you from saying that your Intercessor squad was honored by Kantor himself for some heroic action and they were allowed to wear the second Crimson fist.

I plan to do something similar with my Rievers. Truth is I don't really care for the Riever miniatures. So my current line of thinking is to paint a Intercessor squad with auto bolt rifles. The shoulder pad will still show battle line designations but I will paint both fists Crimson, to signify that it is a veteran Intercessor squad.

Where does it mention there being a lack of Veterans in the background?

The codex doesn't say it. For Crimson Fists, it says "Only when a battle-brother is promoted to the 1st Company will he earn the honour of painting his right gauntlet red as well."

Now, does that mean Veterans in other companies only have one red gauntlet, or are all Veterans presumed to be from the 1st Company?

I think there is enough room for Primaris to be Veterans.
