Well, that gives us our answer to this thread, right?

9x authors each get a book, then roughly 9x books?

Obviously it's not quite that cut and dry, but I guess that's the starting point. They wouldn't fly all 9 of them out without expecting more than a short story or two from each of them.

I'd wait for word of God/ADB on that one. Keep in mind heresy meetings are as much about bouncing ideas around as they are actual writing, and Kyme's an editor. Some attendants could also be doing some novellas/anthology work.

As Roomsky says, there's probably not much in the way of specifics to be inferred. Some might be there more as consultants than anything, it's not to say that everyone present will be doing a book before the end, nor that authors not present -won't-, never mind the specifics of the Siege itself.

That said, it does raise the point that these guys do represent the mainstay of the series at the moment, and there's only so much they could conceivably do anyway, especially once you factor in other constraints and commitments they have (and the Primarchs series, which isn't even part of the main numbered one we're discussing). When you consider those other factors, I'd be surprised to see more than one novel from each of them before this is all over, perhaps setting aside the odd thing which might already be done or close to it.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting we -will- get one more novel from everyone present at that meeting, just that I personally wouldn't expect much more than that at most.

So Chris redeems the DG vs Scars.

Someone has to write how the EC go rogue. McNeill?

We will get another Kyme book for the oh so shattered Salamanders.

ADB probably gets anything he asks for, so the Gate.

And (sigh) since ADB writes at the speed he does, Abnett closes the show.

Any other speculation?

I want the Siege to be good.

I think the last time I read the original print of the story in White Dwarf was back in nineteen thingy-ma-bob when I were knee high to a grasshopper!

I also want there to be plot twists that we don’t expect. Big ones. Massive setting ones right down to making it absolute cannon that the perpetual Oll (the oldest person in the entire setting) was just a guy trying to do the right thing without being a Custodian or an Imperial Fist ;)

Would have been better if he was just a dude, who wanted to farm after putting in his time for the Army.

Him being a perpetual was another mistake.

I'm going to wait to see the resolution of this. The Emperor of the old Lore would care about a lonely human dying defending him, the new one would probably have more difficult empathatizing with him, while if he saw someone that is like him (a perpetual), his empathy (or whatever the hell it is) would be more appropriate.

I'm not so sure, I mean we will have to see how it goes. I don't think the Emperor cares for much but the survival of the species.

Is a Perpetual (why couldn't they just have used the Sensai) somehow important? We haven't been given reason to believe so.

Needless addition to the setting at this point aren't they? I don't know maybe I missed something.

Its mostly because the Emperor is also a perpetual, one that met Ollanius before. That are a lot of triggers in his death.

I hope we get a docummentary out of this. The Horus Heresy is quite an achievement even if people don't like all the books, its a combination of so many minds working into this storyline that it seriously demands some degree of acknowledgement.

I tweeted Laurie about this yesterday as the same thought occurred to me.

Hmmm this HH meeting is indeed interesting as it POSSIBLY supports my theory posted on page two of this thread...

"I reckon the HH series will end up having 60 books in the numbered series. Why? Just a gut feeling. So Old Earth is 47 so we have 13 to go. I reckon it is safe to say 3-4 of those will be anthologies so that leaves 9-10 novels. I suspect 3-5 of those will be in the Sol system/Terra."

So unless he was joining by phone looks like Annandale won't get another shot? Rob Sanders won't get a novel either.

Still after some Blood Bagels action as suggested by @Petitioners City on page two

Abnett was not where - he can't be in Nottingham - being in Oslo, lol.

james swallow doesn't warrant a mention, but he's involved

Instead of Abnett - who was tagged :teehee:

Misdirection EVERYWHERE. Laurie do want to be Omegon.

I thought Laurie left BL a while ago...is he still involved as a HH consultant?

Also, Wraight handling WS vs. DG at the Siehe is not quite official yet, is it?

He is - after all he planned a lot and new 'editors' in BL NEED HIS EXPERTISE  to follow further without him. Call it a 'stabilization and optimization' phase.

Sadly yes. Their inclusion was good at the beginning - but by book 40 it's boring and predictable as hell. They should have dropped all the Perpetual s..t a long time ago.

Not only yours. Add to that my comment that it will all end in 2020.

John French confirms one HH book from him before the siege

Of course he has - who will cover 'Titan death' and 'Great Slaughter at Beta-Garmon' better than him

7 more at the max, I would say, as Goulding and Kyme are editors and will not be contributing novels it seems. Kyme's last Vulkan book is Old Earth.

I think it's also a given that authors not present at the meeting will not be writing any of the remaining novels.

It could still happen. Some things might have been planned prior to this meeting, and even aside from that, no doubt at least some material has already been finished/nearly finished, which may include those not present.

Which isn't to say there -will- be stuff by those not in that meeting. But I wouldn't say it can be totally ruled out.

Taliesin

Good find. Question then - when does High Lords meeting took place? Cause there are only 2 possible scenarios here - if it's 19th - then Abnett was in UK or - Abnett invented a cloning machine to visit Oslo.

'7 more at the max, I would say, as Goulding and Kyme are editors and will not be contributing novels it seems. Kyme's last Vulkan book is Old Earth.

As for the books - let's bet the final novel would be #60? A winner will take a fully painted Noise marines warband.

Old Earth - book #47.

After that - Beta-Garmon book 1,

Titan Death - book 2,

Sea of Fire - book 3 (tis not Ruinstorm - it is covered in the passage of the Angel of Death),

Breaking of Anvilus - book 4,

Wolf Cull and shorts in anthology - book 5,

The Cataclysm of Iron - book 6,

Solar Campaign and Silent war on the outskirts of Solar - book 7.

Disappearance of Titan + Garro + new reprints and audios under 1 anthology cover - book 8.

And only after that the real Siege will start - for which next writers will attend with books:

Dan Abnett (last book #60), Aaron Dembski-Bowden, Gav Thorpe, Chris Wraight, John French, Guy Haley, Graham McNeill,  + some not attendant here but probable - like Anthony Reynolds.
