A brother needs us. #Brandswolves

Hail brothers, I do not post nearly as much as I used to but during my browsing of Facebook earlier I came across a terrible tale of a young lad of only 12 being diagnosed with cancer. His favourite army is the Space Wolves and as such his uncle is collecting messages of well wishing for poor Brand. I sincerely hope this link works otherwise I'll have to work around it.

I'm tempted to paint Brand up a Wolf Lord and send it to him as well as he could do with all the support he can get.

These are the defining moments of our community, and even just a short message to our young brother is a welcome thing. #BrandsWolves

I managed to rad it, although I do not have facebook to comment.

Cancer needs a good kick in the balls

Thoughts and prayers are with Brand...

As for sending mini's we would need to know where to send them and have a finish time..

Actually went further down the page and found name and address.

Brand and his family are UK based, for those considering sending him something.

I generally lurk nowadays, but that facebook post really hit me in the feels.

I have a daughter about to turn 2 and I can't imagine what a diagnosis like that does to a family.

The messages if support have been awesome, but, I want to run with Hrafn's idea.

How about sending Brand a pack of wolves from his brothers at the B&C?

I'm sure most of us have a model we could paint and/or ship off. There would be a group shot taken before sending them off to fight for Brand.

If there is any interest, I would be glad to collect and ship them off.

I figured we could work out details once we had some interest. To brainstorm a bit:

1.) Folks could build/paint or donate an existing (BC/GH or whatever the mood strikes). With our forum (or real) name can be written under the base.

2.) Time: completed minis to me mid/late October for the group photo and off to Brand by November 1.

3.) I'm in the states, so it would be so anything from this side of the pond can be shipped in 1 lot.

4.) I don't see the need for models to make 2 trips across the Atlantic, so if the mini is sent directly maybe put something to the effect of "A pack for Brand" so he knows it's part of the same effort.

Thanks for getting behind the idea!

Ditto for the UK.

Count me in

Oversize the pack, plus do not let Brand know about it, until we have the pack assembled and ready to go. I do not want this to sound bad, but sometimes RL gets in the way & folks cannot finish on time, so it would avoid disappointment.

I'd also suggest giving each person a member of the pack to build/paint as it would mean he wouldn't get 10 melta gunner or pack leaders :D

So would we be rolling with GH, BC or a pack of WG?

I actually have a model from the Lone Wolves diorama I could use

I think we will need to agree on armour colour too, as I know some people in here paint wolves in dark grey and others in the GW colours.

I think it will be easier if we went with the GW colour, instead of all trying to copy someone else's colour scheme.

Is there a chance of getting more details about his army? We could contact his family in order to ask of what would make him happier.

As I don't do minis, maybe I can do something else. :)

Hi all.

I am part of this Facebook group already,I'm painting up a skyclaws pack for the kid.

The group admin has a sticky post where he's keeping a roster of all units declared. the post also has a proposed colour scheme which some contributors have started using. I can copy/paste the post over to here if no-one else has access and it would help.

Copied straight from the Facebook admin's sticky post

Current List:

This list is not an all-encompassing list (although thanks to 1d4chan, I think I got most every unit available) and does not preclude multiple units. Who doesn’t need or want five Devastators Squads, oops I mean Long Fangs. I thought to limit the Special Characters to 1 or 2, but overall, send what you want and what you think will make Brand excited to see. If I miss an entry or something, it’s because I’m a bad admin and feel free to knock me up-side the head with a Frost Sword.

Recommended color scheme (not written in stone; do what you want; 9 out of 10 Space Wolves polled believe grey in their true color not baby-blue)

As written by Joakim Moritz

Base: Administratum grey

Of colours: red and black

Left pad: yellow w. Wolf head

Right pad: red/black with the symbol as in the picture in white.

The symbol is Aegiz, a "horror helmet"

So put on the Amon Amarth, start assembling and painting, and make this truly a Great Company.

I can see an Algiz, but not an Aegiz

This is aegishjalmar, which means helm of awe

So administratum grey armour, with read and black detailing. Ragnar blackmanes great company symbol.

Then the above symbol on the pack marking side?

Does he read SW literature, for example?

Dantay, I think doing some PAWG would be cool, because people can go to town one their contribution. Or some GHs would be cool, we could add to the army that the Facebook group has going.

Also, Brand is going to need a case to transport this lot, we could club together as a group to provide one. This gives people who don't paint a way to contribute if they want. What do we think?
