Equipping Scarab Occult Terminators

Hi folks,

I'm currently building a squad of Scarab Occult Terminators and I need help deciding how to equip them.

I plan to have them Deepstrike on backfield Objectives.

My thoughts so far :

Heavy Warpflamer is nice but without the Chaos Familiar stratagem it will rarely be used. Still ok as a charge deterrent.

Soulreaper Cannnon seems to close to our Inferno combi-bolters to be really worth it.

Helfyre Rack is great but won't blow a vehicle by itself, and I think SoT are mainly an anti-infantry unit anyway.

So how did you equip yours ? What are your thoughts after playing with them (I've only run them once as proxies so my experience is limited) ?

currently I keep them cheap. no upgrades.

I usually use them as either a troop harrassing unit or a noose tightner to assist my rubrics as they march up the field. That extra smite dropping down along with that kind of firepower is quite good to assist getting rid of units or high toughness targets when paired with the rubrics and a sorcerer tagging along.

I run 7 with one of each special/heavy weapon.

With Prescience/VotLW they can maul a whole flank, forcing the enemy to focus fire on them, and they can take usually tank plenty of firepower. I agree that the Hellfyre doesn't particularly suit an anti-MEQ unit, but the range is good, you can splifire to your heart's content, and even without VoTLW it can snipe some valuable target, cripple a vehicle to the next threshold, etc. Rarely have I found their shots to be wasted.

Warpflamer is useless to me because it cannot be fired after the deep strike. And soulreaper is too close to the inferno bolters to pay extra i agree.

The hellfyre rack, while i agree it wont kill tanks, its nice to have against T6/T7 models. And with split fire it's not as bad as in the 7th. It's not like we have a better alternative in my opinion.

I haven't played many games with them, but I had good results from the 5 mad squad with soul reaper and hellfyre rack. I find the extra shots at range are worth the 12 extra points.

Ah I dunno... I like the look and feel of the gun so I keep using it, but point for point, I'm sure you could get more mileage for those 12 points. It's better now but really the typical 'gun' is good. This should be higher Strength imo.

I have been rolling with Hellfyre and Reaper Cannon on a 5 man or 2 unit of 5 man.  They have been great against units that are not high T pound for pound dedicated CC units such as Striking Scorpions, Banshees etc..  Their shooting has also erased units off the board

In most games they have done well for me though I have purposefully picked their battles as S 4 on a T4+ is not easy to wound.
