Hey all,

After a few months using BnC, and a few threads that I started but never really had the motivation to update regularly (normally because they involved armies with difficult or time-consuming paint schemes) I've decided to cut down my posting to just two threads: This one, for my Iron Warriors, and a soon-to-be-made WIP General thread. I'm keeping this IW thread separate because they're bloody easy to paint, and it'll help motivate me to actually create a usable and fully painted army. Hopefully I can give these guys some fluff too.

Models here will hopefully be kitbashed/slightly converted to make unique and interesting models. I plan to make Iron Warriors for both 30k and 40k, hopefully making newer versions of characters as various fates befall them and time passes. Some of these men will turn out loyalist, others renegade and others again full blown chaos worshipping traitors. As the models come so will the fluff.

Kicking off this thread with Narik Dreygur, a model I got as a one off and enjoyed painting so much that it inspired me to start painting and building more of the IVth legion.

Second Tac Squad member WIP, this time with a heavy flamer. Converted from a heavy bolter, the tartaros flamer and some piping from the power-armoured legion praetor's archeotech pistol. Just need to finish the backpack and a pistol at his waist

And here's a close up of the flame effect on the base. I tried to make it look like a burning puddle of promethium was there with a little bit of Nurgle's rot mixed with some warpstone green just applied around the base of the flame.

Further update on the Vet Tac Squad, no paint yet, just getting the individual poses sorted. Something I've always found hinders me when painting marines is their lack of variety across models, so I wanted to make sure that the men were varied.

Here's the Vexilla-bearer:

Special weapons - Volkite charger:

And just a normal marine with a changed up pose:

Nice work with these :D The heavy flamer conversion's very decent!

I really like that flamer guy!

Thanks guys! Was very proud of the flamer myself, just a little idea that came together really nicely. I was especially happy when I found the piping piece, as I thought I'd lost the bit and the pressure gage really suited the flamer build.

I also come bearing more Iron Warriors and a smidge of fluff!

Introducing Morvax Visigoth, Warsmith of the LI (51st) Grand Battalion, and captain of the battle-barge 'Ironsights'. Wielding a paragon blade named 'Horizon' and a chainfist, Visigoth epitomises the brutal close combat conditions of siege warfare, often diving headfirst through the breach in enemy fortresses to butcher his way through swathes of unworthy enemies.

Visigoth will act as a HQ choice for my ZM list, I figure I can use him as a praetor with fist/LC/Charnabal sabre/paragon blade.

Tomorrow I'll hopefully also have an update containing some paint!

Thanks for reading, CC appreciated

A painting updated was promised, and so it shall be delivered! Here is the fourth man in my TacVet squad, 99% complete. Just need to do the bolter and the handle of his chainsword.

Quite like the shield covering his abdomen! Is it some bitz from the Death company?

That looks like a normal terminator shoulder shield.

Also digging how the praetor uses terminator legs to add presence but still manages to more or less stay in scale with the rest of them.

It’s a shoulder shield from the assault terminator set, figured it would be a pretty iron warriors-looking piece to use to show artificer modification to the suit. Thanks for the compliments!

Been a while without an update! Sorted something better for the photos, so here are all my Iron Warriors so far. Entered myself for a 1750 pts tournament in May so I’ll be expanding this force quite a lot in the coming months.

The newest addition to this squad is the vexilla bearer, who holds a simple but aged standard that has been with the fourth legion since the unification wars.

Here’s a dryfitting of a contemptor dreadnought too:

Keen to hear what you all think! This last month I’ve really had to up my rate of painting and I will have to do so even more if I want to have my full list ready in time for May. This tournament is serving to motivate me and you can expect an upcoming warsmith, more veterans, havocs, tyranthikos, destroyers and a moritat. Leave a comment and tell me what you think!

Hey all,

Storm Emma hit the UK this week, and I’ve found myself snowed in for the better part of four days. Free from the shackles of school or work, I’ve had plenty of spare time to devote to the hobby!

To kick this update off, I’ve FINALLY gotten around to finishing and photographing my first tactical veteran squad. Without further ado I present Squad Ghaul:

Almost all my hobby time, however, has been devoted to assembling and painting my contemptor dreadnought. Introducing Ancient Tyranthik:

And a shot of the base detail:

I’ll wrap this post up with a full shot of my force so far a dreadnought, veterans and Narik Dreygur

Hope you all enjoyed! Next I’ll be painting my warsmith, moving onto another veteran squad and a few elites. I’m aiming for 1750 points by May for the upcoming Remidium Alpha event in Cardiff. Thanks for looking!

Been working on the Warsmith this week. Base model is the GW Warpsmith, I’ve been using a dremel to clear out a load of material from between his legs and now I’m using GS to add details.

And for reference here’s a before shot from behind, which shows all the stuff I’ve had to remove. In the standard model this is obscured by a huge cape so the big block of plain resin isn’t such an issue:

Nice use of parts on the Warsmith, the effects on the special weapons are looking good too, especially the volkite.

Fantastic looking conversion! Seeing the pic in full size instead of on my phone really shows what an awesome job you did at cleaning off the chaos bits! Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks fellas! Here’s a quick WIP pic, laying some paint on him now. Iron within!

Great work on the Warpsmith, I’ve wrestled with de-chaos-ifying that model before and it’s a real slog, so this is especially impressive.

Cheers fella! I found personally that the greater chore was restoring detail rather than removing it. Lots of areas on the legs that are normally covered with resin that needed to have trim etc. added. Glad it was all worth it though!

I also come bearing an update - I’ve begun to put together my Moritat. Here’s what I’ve got so far, and I’ve already got parts on the way ready:

C&C welcome!
