Interesting ruling from the Death Guard FAQ

Normally, you can only take relics from the faction of your warlord.

 

Buy the DG FAQ clarifies that for example if you have a Chaos Marine Warlord, but also a detachment of DG, you can use the DG Strategum that grants extra Relics to give the DG thier relics.

 

Could be useful for us. Especially if you take Bobby G for his CP Warlord trait.

 

Use 1 or all 3 of the bonus CP he gives to gain GK Relics...

I don't think that would work. Relics of the Chapter only lets you take additional 'Chapter Relics' (i.e. those from Codex: Space Marines) and they can only be given to a 'Space Marines CHARACTER', so I don't think any Grey Knights units would be able to be beneficiaries of that.

 

Several of the Codex: Space Marines Stratagems do target 'ADEPTUS ASTARTES INFANTRY' units et cetera though, so could benefit some Grey Knights units.

Keyword doesn't matter for this instance. The idea is you use the stratagem for extra relics belonging to the faction who doesn't have the warlord to still take relics with them since normally only the warlords faction gets one by default.

Ah, I see - I missed that in Gentlemanloser's post. It would seem to work, though I think there's probably a rules argument to be had over the "extra" being intended as extra to the one you'd normally be permitted. That's obviously not for here, though!

Edit. Yeah another benefit for us would be taking Bobby G (or any space marine detachment) would unlock using sm strats and using ones that target adeptus astartes on our GK.

Death to the Traitors (awesomely fluffy for us! One unit. Every 6+ to hit in fight phase versus Heretic Astartes generates an additional attack. On a GMNDK, yes please! Or Paladin. Combo it with Honour the Chapter to really make something dead!)

Quite correct - I was once again thinking of the question/answer on using Stratagems from one to target the other, doh!
