Rumours of Sisters of Battle in 2018

The story adds up better than most plastic sisters rumours and it wouldn't surprise me if retrograde investor pushback was at least partially responsible for the lack of new female minis coming out of gdubs.

But as you said, given what we've heard before it seems likely that we'll be hearing about plastic sisters from a brain-in-a-jar aboard Tycho Station in two hundred years.

As with most rumours, unless I see something solid I'm going to treat it cautiously.

It would be really great if this were true, even if I'm not particular into the 'Nuns with Guns', because it finally breaks the cycle of the Sisters and other smaller armies. The cycle being that they don't seem popular because nobody buys them, so GW won't invest because it's seen as a poor ROI, but the reason nobody buys them is because GW won't invest in them and give them a decent workable range. It will give us something else than the reasonably bankable Astartes kits of different flavours.

With as big a deal as a plastic Sisters release would be, I can understand the need for being hush hush on the matter. Such an announcement would overshadow their current releases and could play a little havoc with their Christmas season plans.

Obviously, I hope the rumor is true, but like many others - I'll believe it when I see it.

First codex of 2018, maybe. I’d think it’s more likely the employee or someone else along the line is trolling the world than that there are actually plastic Sisters, but I suppose it’s technically possible.

If they're doing a Codex, I think it's likely they're doing plastic models as well - many of the 8th Codex releases are getting new models with their releases. Events do seem to indicate they're going to be doing plastic Aspect Warriors for Eldar, they did a whole run of new models for Space Marines, new stuff for Death Guard, etc.

Suppose one possible tell would be to watch the Astra Militarum releases over the next few weeks. If they redo some of the older metal models (like for each regiment) in plastic, I'd say that helps spell it as likely.

Please tell me where you got these informations?

As far as we know only 2 of the 10 "codizes until christmas" get new plastic models (Marines and DG). That´s not many....

On which event did they indicate plastic aspect warriors? I didn´t saw any "real" rumor about them for a while now.

I mean, mechanicus and GK got nothing. I'd say it's not unlikely that we could get a codex with no models.

I'm not trying to drum up hype or be one of those all-in supporters, merely supplying my opinion - which feels like it's being supported by the lead-up. Only time will tell if I'm accurate.

On the Plastic Aspect Warriors: That's once again my prediction, based on the statements of GW folk, the pattern on their current Aspect Warriors models being available/not, and trends with their other codices. I have zero hard evidence on this - only suggestion and speculation.

And all of that is predicated on the rumor in the OP being accurate to begin with.

Now I understand you, but I believe your train of thoughts is a little wrong.

If we get a new Sister codex we will get plastic minitures, not because many codex-releases have them. That´s just not true in the 8th edition. They make them because if not, why would they continue to support this faction?

But yeah, if we get a codex and plastic sisters we will also get aspect warriors. (and HL 3, and TES6 :P)

The usual stance is to wait for it to be in your hands before believing it.

And as before, I could be cutting up the sprue and gluing them together and I still wouldn't believe it.

I am really torn on the notion of Plastic Sisters. On one hand I think it would be great to see the army updated with new aesthetics and potentially new units, but on the other hand I cringe at the thought of every man and his dog jumping on the bandwagon. I started collecting Sisters because they are a odd ball army of sorts, not many people play them, they're metal, they're expensive, and they haven't ever really been a super strong army. I like collecting armies that the majority of people pass over, I guess I am a contrarian at heart. Unfortunately, i feel that if Plastics come out and everyone starts playing Sisters that my interest in the army will disappear. I am more attached to rarity than fluff.

I’ll admit that was a good chunk of why I started Sisters too, but I also fell in love with the metal model range, and later became obsessed with the Ministorum fluff.

If the range does get updated I can still prove that I was playing Sisters before it was cool by using my all-metal army :D

At this point my main interest is in the fluff anyway. Therefore my main concern would be more additions to the Sisters fluff that run counter to my headcanon. Not that I’m going to change my headcanon, it’ll just make me even less invested in GW’s new releases moving forward.

Well, Christmas is always a time of hope.

I do have 144 Sisters miniatures (not including vehicles) and prior to 8th I would be happy for plastic Sisters. Now in 8th edition I am VERY much looking forward them, if the rumors are true. Sisters are truly competitive. And, should there come a Codex, or part of a Codex, or even a few pages of Chapter Approved, which bring new models, new units, and new abilities, then all the better.

Codex I can believe.  After all, GW's said multiple times that the Index's are only a 'get you by', and with the popularity of Celestine GW knows there is profit to be made from all the people playing 'Imperial soup' armies paying full codex price just to get her updated rules.

That does not mean new models though.  GW has a higher cost/profit ratio with just a new codex than with a new codex and a new range of models. After all the new marine and chaos marine molds made recently, I doubt they have the budget for it anyway.

If Sisters do get a codex then I'm pretty convinced they will get plastic as well.

Like others have said if they do continue to support the army with a codex they will also need it to become viable as a product range with models in store. Which means plastic.

Does anyone have any idea how the Celestine release did financially? If they got enough sales from testing the water with that then I'd suspect that the rest of the range won't be too far behind.

Cheers

Oh please, I'm so jaded about rumors about plastic sisters from GW that I'm almost willing to promise to paint and mail one of these great new GW sisters to every Sisters player on the B&C when they launch.

Either that or refuse to buy them on principle for having been led on for so long.  I'll keep my 3rd party and custom kitbashes tyvm GW.

So if the new codex comes out and there are no models, I really hope that GW will bring back some of the missing sculpts.  If they had kyrinov's mold sitting around for that made to order run, perhaps they have some other sisters or ecclesiarchy molds too.  Do we even know what happened to the molds for the missing sculpts?
