The Star Guardians

gallery_94809_13812_167.jpg

Legion Name: The Star Guardians

Legion Number: IV
Legion Strength: Exactly 10,000
Legion Tactics: Boarding actions, Xone Mortallis Combat, overwhelming force over a small front
Legion Primarch: Shaaa Hydrades, Scion of the 10,000, the Cold Hearted

Formally known as The Dark Watchers, the Star Guardians are the 4th Legion of genetically altered Transhuman Space Marines forged by the Emperor, led by their Primarch Shaaa Hydrades, the Legion specialises in Boarding and other Zone Mortalis actions, bringing their elite training to bare, where their small numbers do not work against them.
The Star Guardians have the distinction of being the smallest of the Legions, as well as the most consistent in their numbers, constantly keeping their Legion at exactly 10,000 combat ready marines. This small number does not stop them requisitioning equipment and supplies for a force many times their number, ensuring that they are phenomenally well equipped even by the standard of other Legions, their entire Legion being able to take to the field in Terminator Armour if they so desire, either Cataphractii or Saturnine pattern, the Legion even boasting a unique mark of Mark 3 power armour, known as Breacher pattern.

Cold and calculating, the Legion is not well liked within the Imperium, mostly for the attitude and actions of their Primarch. This is not to say they are not respected, as their victory roster is as long as any Legion, but they would not be chosen by any citizen as the face of the Great Crusade. This suits the Legion and their Primarch just fine, as they do not care for accolades heaped upon them, preferring silent deeds and actions to loud boasts and mighty displays that some of the other Legions favour so much.

The Legion does not have a home planet like their brother Legions, instead hailing from a huge artificial ring orbiting the death world of Hydra, known simply as The Ring. Due to this, boarding actions and EVA combat were the norm, as well as missions to the surface of the deadly world to recover the valuable resources the station needed to survive. Shaaa unified the station in a war against his adoptive father, with an army of 10,000 that would influence the Star Guardians cohesion for their entire life, the Emperor and his Legion entering the system on the last day of the war.

The Night Sentinels

gallery_4536_13993_8148.png

Name: The Night Sentinels

Legion: Number: I

Legion Size: 140,000

Legion Tactics: Shock Assault, Planetary Decimation and Systematic Extermination,  Planet-Kill and Extermination Operations.

Battle Cry: “Non Veni De Noctem!” (“From Night We Come!”)

Primarch: Onus Farron, The Dark Blade

Loyalty: Traitor

First born in the Emperors grand vision the first Legiones Astartes have always found their place at the forefront of war. Boasting a vast array of Unification and early Great Crusade honours amongst its officers and veterans. To many, this legion served as exemplar to its younger cousins for many decades but that all changed with the coming of the primarchs as all things did.

Found upon a world hallowed and broken, Onus Farron grew up in the care of the worlds revered defenders the Night Sentinels. These warriors who’s purpose was only to protect the dark worlds denizens from the horrors of the now barren and never ending mines spread across the planet like veins and the nightmarish horrors who strike at night. Farron’s adoptive brothers trained him well and instilled in him their culture, their ways and in this he like all the people of Vultar grew to hate the dwellers in the darkness; the impure, the mutant, the witch…the unperfected.

Through the decades of endless attrition circumstance found Farron becoming head of the order and the exalted guardian of the surface. Alas, this was not enough, not for Farron and not for the people of Vultar. The horrors in the dark never stopped and in time their destruction of the surface was all but complete and only Farron and a last bastion of the Sentinels remained. All was lost, until the Emperor arrived and offered Farron the truth and a bargain; the safety and salvation of his home for his and his warriors unending loyalty to the Imperium. Left with no other choice, Farron accepted, and from the sky lances of almost holy fire rained down, cleansing the surface and the deep tunnels of Vultar. With this, Farron learned of the Crusade, of his origins, his true purpose and of a galaxy suffering like his home from the xenos, witch and mutant. With a new purpose and now armed with a legion bathed in pride and honour, Farron took to the void and renamed the Ist Legion the Night Sentinels in honour of the fallen of Vultar. The Sentinels took to their new purpose with vigour unheard of amongst the legions, liberating world after world from oppression and mutation. After each world conquered all signs of imperfection removal, genetic deviation purged, each and every sign of unperfected humanity burned away systematic and with ruthless efficiently. Whole populations exterminated to insure no planet suffered from rampant mutations like Vultar.

The Night Sentinels seek only the perfection of the form blessed to them by the Emperor. Their martial skills must be peerless, their minds cunning and swift and their bodies treated as temples to genetic mastercraft. In this, the Sentinels inherited Farron’s thrust of perfection and despise bionics in any form, seeing it as both ugly and weakness, preferring instead to replace lost limbs with vat-grown flesh material grafted on by the legion’s Skinsmiths Apothecaries. This has seen them at odds with the Mechanicum more than once. The practice has, over time, transformed once beautiful Astartes into hulking Frankenstein-like monsters covered in a patchwork of flesh and graft. With these physical changes, also came changes in their overall demeanour. The legion now descended upon planets with pure shock and awe. Tank squadrons deployed en mass and companies of marines in silver and blue wielding sword and bolter purged any trace that deviated from their perceived ideals of the Emperor’s perfection. But this had the worst effect on the proud and noble men as the crusade droned on….the legion started to take sick pleasure in their duty, and some even saw angels of violet and pink whisper in their deepest dreams….of how all life was unpure…..all the universe needed to be cleansed of their mutation…..how it was their duty to humanity. In this the legion’s morals became blurred, their path to damnation and treachery sealed. It all came to a tragic head in the Grundas System…300 billion souls lost…43 planets wiped clean of all life…. a forge world cleansed of its filthy weakness…and a legion who lost its mind.

The Kraken Lords

gallery_4536_13993_346795.png

Name: The Kraken Lords

Legion: Number: VIII

Legion Size: 88,000

Legion Tactics: Shock Assault, Close-Quarters Assault, Shock & Awe, Armour & High-Intensity Warfare.

Battle Cry:

Primarch: Nautis Soltair, The Tempest Lord

Loyalty: Traitor

The Legion itself numbers roughly 88,000 Legionaries with numerous support personnel. This is divided into eight fleets numbering 11,000 each, branded Houses or a Lodge. Each House/Lodge is led by a Chieftain and a council of his most expert warriors. Each fleet has its own legends, glories, defeats and victories transcribed in large Kraken skin tomes that rest inside the chamber of the Chieftain. These tomes are read aloud by the Chieftain on the eve before battle, recounting tales of heroism, conquest and sometimes, bitter defeat. These readings are meant to inspire the Legion to act like those who came before them, or to do better than their ancestors in similar situations that lead to defeat.

The legion’s favored method of combat is close quarter assaults, where the skills honed on Osiris before becoming marines are best put to use, closing the gap with the enemy as quickly as possible. Because of this the legion has a high number of Land Raider and Spartan Assault Tanks, with the Primarch’s fleet equipped with no less than 50 Mastodon Carriers. Tribal tattoos, hairstyles and piercings are common place amongst the legion, many sporting facial hair adorned with silver beads and stone talismans to ward off death and other superstitious natures.

The legion shares an almost unheard of closeness with itself, with the legion traveling back home once every ten years to celebrate glories gained, honours earned, and to mourn their brothers who have fallen throughout their numerous campaigns. This warrior brotherhood is instilled into each and every marine throughout the entirety of the legion from birth on their homeworld, extending so far as to being very personal with themselves and other Legions, sometimes leading to conflict as they sometimes blatantly ignore rank from time to time.

Nautis compassion for the lives of his men and the lives of humanity in general can be seen as a weakness by some, often requesting that Imperial Army elements offer up a supporting or rear guard role for his legionaries and their heavy tanks. He often takes the frontline and leads the spearhead himself so as to possibly save lives by using his battle prowess to break an enemy force.

As the events of the Great Crusade progress and his warriors discovered more and more things controlled by the Deep, they would go to all ends if it means it's eradication or it's subjugation...eventually leading the legion down a darker path.

The Storm Raptors

gallery_4536_13993_358884.png

Legion: Number: XIV

Legion Size: 114,000

Legion Tactics: Planetstrike Campaigns, Multi-Vector Suborbital Attack, Aerial Assault, Strategic Decapitation Strikes.

Primarch: Ba-Lor, The Falcon

Legion Home World: Abia Prima

Heritage: Scottish/Celtic-themed

Loyalty: Loyalist

The Storm Raptors are the XIVth Legion of the 20 Legiones Astartes created by the Emperor. Led by the Primarch Ba-Lor, the legion was famed for lightning attacks and swift redeployments prior to the Heresy, being extremely hard to pin down their location and impossible to be drawn into a protracted battle. Famed for his ability to quickly analyze enemy weaknesses and strike with unsurpassed precision Ba-Lor leads his legion from the forefront causing critical damage wherever they strike!

Due to their home worlds unique environment, the Storm Raptors start their life as the Emperors aerial assault specialists. Having made strong allies with the Kraken Lords and LongXi, Ba-Lor readjusted the allocated vehicles through valuable trades, resulting the the Raptors having an unusually large amount of Land Speeders, fliers (including but not limited to Storm Talons/Hawks, Storm Ravens/Eagles and Fire Raptors). Along with this trade, Ba-Lor has been able to acquire the STC pattern for the Embarus Pattern armour created by the Ashen Crows.

Ba-Lor was quite set on getting access to this to improve the mobility of his legion and allow them to operate as close to optimum as possible.

Each legionary hones their skills in the use of Jet Packs as soon as they join the ranks of the Astartes. Viewed by many as “unique” due to their choice of movement, they are often called upon by other legions and the Imperial Army when key elements of the foe are too swift to pin down, can't be found or simply can't be reached by traditional tactics.

Ba-Lor and the Legion as a whole have a hard time accepting the news that their close friends and strong allies

When The Kraken Lords fell to the forces of the Warmaster. Ba-Lor vowed to do everything he can to bring his friend Nautis Soltair and his Kraken Lords back under the guidance of the Emperor.

The Dragon Lords

gallery_4536_13993_167788.png

Legion: Number: XVII

Legion Size: 50,000

Battlecry “We are the Hammer! We are the Bulwark”

Legion Home World: Pax Primaris

Legion Tactics: Psychic Combat, High Numbers and Heavy Armour, Large War Fleets

Primarch: Camelous, The Dragon King, The Sword of Oblivion

Loyalty: Loyalist

“The Dragon Lords in one word is ‘power’. Their Primarch is everything you would expect leading such a legion… And somehow not.”

Even before being united with their primarch the XVIIth Legion was known for having a very substantial (and rapidly growing) number of psykers. While the legion in part recruited from psychic candidates, many non-psykers who became legionaries seemingly had awakened their psychic potential after becoming full Astartes – whether this was intended or a side effect perhaps only the Emperor knew. This trend only increased in pace after being reunited with their Primarch.

The Primarch Camelous had been named the ancient founder of the psychic tradition where he grew up, and united the planet under his banner. His psychic powers where noticed by the Emperor and he was the second Primarch to be discovered, and initially served under the Emperor’s tutelage. The legion – and its primarch – were completely devoted to the service of the Emperor and his ideals of a united Imperium of Man, by any means necessary.

As a person Camelous reflected his legion, he had the demeanor of a calm disciplined soldier. While he was not overly fond on ceremony, and overly idealistic himself, he DID respect these qualities in others. Camelous had a reputation of being a calm calculating presence rather than having an inspiring personality – by primarch standards anyway – however, under the right circumstances he could be quite pleasant and even charming. The truth was the primarch cared for everyone – too much – no matter how much he tried to always see things in a bigger picture. On the battlefield is where truly Camelous shone as a commander, rallying marines and humans, while creating enormous storms psychic power while shielding his allies from harm.

Legion tactics, outlook and personality:

“Your past is gone. Every planet you fight on is your home. Every system the fleet reaches is your domain.”

The XVIIth legion was often regarded as more of a hammer than the tip of a spear by legion standards, with a somewhat inflexible structure and disregard for certain equipment like bikes, jet speeders and even widespread use of Terminator Armour. This meant that the legion was deployed in large numbers on massive battlefields, preferring to leave surgical attacks, hit & run, infiltration and more specialized operations to legions more proficient in at this, if possible.

In terms of combat mind-set the legion was typically one of mission success over personal glory. Amongst the Dragon Lords, personal duty and honour was something that was generally disregarded in favour of a similar idea on a squad level. The Primarch wanted a legion of soldiers, not glory-seeking warriors or knights blinded by honour.

The legion would often employ squads of 30 marines with two squad leaders, which could be split into two demi-squads if the need should arise. Squads of marines with weaker psychic abilities would often be formed into squads to allow them to collectively manifest psychic powers (brotherhood of psykers) while often being led by more skilled psyker-sergeants (so called Dragon Knights). Due to larger squad sizes the legion favoured Spartan Assault Tanks and Stormbirds in preference of the Rhino armoured personnel carrier or the ubiquitous Land Raider, many of them which were modified according to the instructions of their Primarch. Additionally, the legion used enormous quantities of force weapons.

Wow, only just seen you did all this, there is certain things wrong though. The Sirens of Kastar are loyalist, Light Bringers, Void Walkers, Phoenix's Legacy and the scorpus crusaders are traitors.

The IX are called the Kindred sons, they are new to the project so we don't have a public summery of them yet. the VI are the blood angels, but they are purged, the XIX are the Word bearers and they are purged as well. They are our missing legions.

Certain information is out of date as we are re-working certain aspects.

The Phoenix Legacy

gallery_94809_13812_12107.png

Legion Size: 20k Space marines
Legion tactics: Stalling, entangling, capturing, defense.
Legion Theme: Steampunk, Phoenix, Undead
Legion Number: XX
Loyalty: Traitors

Phoenix’s Legacy is a support type legion, as it lacks direct combat abilities. Most of its members spreads through the places to do specific missions, as they are great at stalling enemies couple times more than them, they usually form small squads of brethrens to stall their enemies progress, until some other legion that prefers the required type of combat come and save the day. Every member of the Phoenix’s Legacy harness some bits of their Primarchs Cryo or Pyro psychic energy, though not many can channel them into actual psyk spells, they figured out a way to create special weapons inspired from their Primarchs weapon, to be able to fire the energy inside out as gunshot, or to enhance their melee weapons.

Yrlan Lathal
Crashed down to a ranch owned by a doctor in the heavy plagued Pandemia, he was picked up by Doctor Jones and raised him, teaching him the ways of a doctor. At Yrlans age of 21 however, due to the raging plague across the landscape, Jones died to the notorious plague “Dying Red” which is dominant in this land right now. Filled with sadness of losing his father, Yrlan felt nothing else but desire to destroy the plague from this land, thus he embarked into a journey into the deadly jungle Knyfex, to seek a legend that in the highest mountain of this world lies a Phoenix who will reward whoever can come up on the top of it. Rest be told at other days, but Yrlan returned from his journey many years later, and brought hope to this dying world. After he became the leader of the medical research of this world, Emperor came to find him. As Yrlan has been taught the way of being a doctor, he was convinced that serving as the legion's Primarch will save more people's life. Thus he became the Primarch to the 20th legion, the Vermillion’s Oath, a massive legion hosting around 100K space marines. However a great tragedy was directly presented to the newborn Phoenix’s Legacy, their Primarch has brought the legion a deadly gift, those who survive the trial will share a shard of his warp power, but those who doesn’t, will be killed mentally, or go completely mad, thus the once 100K membered legion was reduced to 20K only. This left yet another scar on Yrlans heart and mind, and would prove to have an effect on his leading choices later on.

Tactics
The fact that all members can wield psyk to a certainty grants the legion many possibilities. Furthermore that all of them mostly only have the psyk power of Fire and/or Ice is even better. They normally form squads of a proper psyker and from 4-9 other marines that while able to use warp energy, they have a hard time actually channeling them into psyk spells, in which case they wield weapons that helps them channel the energy, and properly utilize their gift. While in total they are few, The Phoenix’s Legacy holds so many psyker that they are able to test many different strategy with their psyk power. A very simple sign of its magnificence, is by cooperating of one who wields Pyromancy and one that wields Glacialmancy, they may create illusions real enough to fool not just orks, but humans and other xenos as well. Thus they may scare their opponents away, or lure them into a deadly trap. The Phoenix’s Legacy avoid fighting in open ground, but if they absolutely have to, they will freeze their enemy in place, no matter if one has wings or any mobility device by other means, they will still not escape their end. If an enemy for reasons cannot be frozen or has to be killed, they will instead embrace flames, strong enough to ignite their soul, they will suffer and burn in both their body and soul before they perish, or be sealed in Ice, and these frozen displays will be transferred back, for studying or interrogate purposes. Or, in a third and rare case, to whatever deep dark means by their Primarchs splitting will, the darker side of the two.
All in all, they prefer stealth and distraction, if they can not purge them, they will stall using ice and fire to create hinders for their opponent, all for their allies to arrive and prepare a surprise for their lovely opponents. Of course, if the opponents hits up the jackpot, they may also taste fury of the Phoenix, if they are enough to completely crush their opponents that is.

The Civilians
The Phoenix’s Legacy sees protecting as an honor, and to let non-inevitable death happen to be a disgrace. They are even more cared about patients, as they are proud of their ability to cleansing illness. They believe in their ability to stall what ever enemy that comes at them, until other imperium armies come and obliterate their enemies, therefore to let enemies getting past their defense will be the greatest dishonor.

To Psykers
Phoenix’s Legacy sees psyker as their possible brothers, or as normal human beings. The fact that to survive their gene seed implantation requires a stronger soul and mind than the normal humans, so they secretly raises psykers and children with strong will to join their legion afterwards.

The Kindred Sons

gallery_94809_13812_24650.png

Legion Size - 120’000
Primarch - Gentrus Solum
Homeworld - Gentarus
Legion Number - IX
Loyalty: Loyalists

Legion Beliefs
Hailing from a world where ones family and honour is everything, the 9th legion and their Primarch hold loyalty and honour above all else. The Astartes of the legion all consider one another to be true family with each battle brother truly caring for one another in a way fare deeper than any of the other legions. All willing to sacrifice themselves for the brother next to them and each brothers brave and noble acts are proudly sung by his fellows on a daily basis. This attitude is also extended towards the other legions with the Kindred Sons always being eager to commend the great deeds of their cousins.
Upon the field of battle the Kindred Sons conduct themselves with a great amount of civility and respect. Though they are filled with the same zealous fury of any Astartes, wishing to purge the galaxy of all those that would threaten the Emperors growing Imperium, when fighting against an none compliant human world the Sons respect that their foe is simply protecting their own and never take steps to humiliate their opponent. They are often seen allowing enemies to retreat, accepting prisoners and surrender and even allowing a foe to his feet in a duel. However for the Xenos and Traitors of the galaxy, far less quarter is given.

The Great Houses
Upon the legions homeworld of Gentarus, the planet was once contested over by four noble houses. The houses century’s long conflicts slowly killed the planet and it was the efforts of the Primarch Gentrus Solum that saves the planet from destruction. He united the houses in a short campaign of conquest using the strengths and weaknesses of each house against one another. Though Gentrus was able to save the Houses from annihilation by allying them together he did not wish to merge them together. He understood that each house held their own beliefs and ways of life very sacred and although this would cause occasional conflicts and skirmishes Gentrus believed that this would keep the houses strong while keeping the planet in a relative state of piece. These houses still hold domain over the planet of Gentarus and the beliefs of each have carried over into the legion with each new recruit being thought the doctrines and beliefs of their respective house as well as that of the legion as a whole. Though all Astartes of the 9th legion hold the same values each house has their own distinct outlook and style of warfare which is honed to a razors edge.

House Warden
The first of the great houses is House Warden. The Wardens make up the majority of the legions number and are the most tactically diverse of the four Houses. Favouring the standard Bolter and the occasional special weapon, Warden Squads fill the role of tactical squads utilising their great numbers to great effect. A favoured formation of the wardens is to position many of their squads in two long ranks. While making a slow advance the marines in the first rank will fire their Bolters in full auto until their clip is spent. Once it has the rank behind will step forward and do the same while the other rank reloads. This process is repeated over and over unleashing a devastating, unending torrent of bolter fire which will only end when the formations commanding officer deems it necessary.
House Mason
Hailing from their fortress homes in the Gentarus Mountains, House Mason are expert fort holders and the defenders of the legion. The Masons are stubbornness and stoicism personified, nicknamed ‘Stone Feet’ by the other houses the Masons refuse to grant their enemy a single foot of ground when ordered to hold a position. Acts of sacrifice are nothing to a Mason. Always ready to throw themselves into enemy fire in order to cover a retreat or defend an all but lost position to the last man without so much as a change in expression. Because of this, the Masons have been granted the almost exclusive use of the legions tactical dreadnought armour making these grim marines all the more immovable.

House Breaker
The most technologically advanced of the four houses and favouring the heavy ordinance of the legions armoury and the once fierce rivals of House Mason, the marines of House Breaker make up the legions heavy artillery. The most cheery and boastful of the houses, Breaker squads can always be seen cheering and singing tales of valour while their heavy weapons unleash a hell storm of death upon the enemy be it from heavy bolter, missile launcher, auto cannon or multi-melta. Because of this fondness for large guns the breakers also make up the ranks of the legions artillery commanders and fleet captains, ordering the fire of a thousand basilisks or an orbital bombardment with a jolly casualness often found unnerving by the other houses.

House Herald
Inhabiting the vast wastelands of eastern Gentarus the nomadic House Herald once charged to battle in great wagons pulled by mighty beasts which would crash through the gun lines of the more advanced houses to then stop and unload their deadly cargo of sword wielding savages into the enemies midst. This same method of war still carries over into the marines of the Heralds within the 9th legion only they have exchanged their primal beasts for beasts of metal. Forming the armoured fist of the legion the Heralds are at the front of any Kindred Sons assault. Charging formations of land raiders and rhinos plough headlong into enemy positions to allow Herald assault squads brandishing power and chain weapons of all kinds to spill from their armoured steeds. There are also those in the Heralds who prefer to stay within the confines of their mobile haven and it is these marines who pilot the vast columns of predator tanks at the legions disposal. These thousand strong, armour formations give the Kindred Sons there most powerful edge on the battlefield with no foe being able to match the numbers or fire power of a Herald armoured assault.

Legion Organisation
To outsiders the 9th legion may seem divided, with each house displaying a greatly different demeanour and practicing its own unique combat doctrines, this is simply not the case. Though separate, the Houses of the 9th legion work together with great efficiency and coordination. Utilising each houses skills where they are needed on the battle field to aid one another. For example a Warden Infantry assault would be backed by a Herald tank column or a Mason fortress would be protected by Breaker artillery fire and so on.  Any quarrels between the houses never go beyond the point of a friendly rivalry with each battle brother considering all others in the legion to be his family regardless of their house. On the rare occasion that conflict does escalate the matter is quickly resolved with a game of Regicide, a game popular among the legion or for more serious cases, an honour duel. These proceedings are usually overseen by the legions Chaplins, whose duty it is to retain order between the houses as well as their regular spiritual guidance.
The legion is organised into the Four Great House which identifies a marine’s combat role and each was led by a Lord General. House Warden being the largest, standing at around 70’000 marines strong, House Herald at 30’000, House Breaker at 15’000 and house Mason at 5’000 marines at the height of the legions strength. These houses where then broken down into 1’000 man Division each lead by a General. These Divisions were further broken down into 100 man Brigades led by a captain and further still into squads led by sergeants. Though houses such as the Wardens had their Divisions numbered 1st to 70th houses such as the Breakers and Heralds had multiple types of regiment such as the Breakers Artillery, Breaker and Fleet regiments and the Heralds Cavalry and Armoured regiments.
When choosing the commanders of the legion the Kindred Sons look to the greatest heroes of the legion to lead them, always choosing to follow those among them who have committed great acts of heroism, loyalty and tactical genius. With such admiration for their  officers the Astartes of the Kindred Sons follow their commanders orders without question, trusting in their judgment and wishing to emanate those that lead them.

Claws if Xipac

sml_gallery_94809_13812_28927.png

Legion Number: III
Style of Warfare: Surprise attacks, close quarters combat, priority target isolation
Primarch: Necalli, the Cutter of Men
Battlecry “All days end”
Size: 135,000
Homeworld: Achcauhcapalli (a-kow-ka-parly) to the natives, Doredya to the wider Imperium

Primarch of the 3rd, and cut-throat weapon of the Emperor, Necalli grew up on the savage green planet of Achcaucapalli, among its golden and stone cities and alongside its primitive warriors. Narrowly avoiding being a child sacrifice due to intervention from the High Priest Oltencatl, Necalli was named and set to training with the ferocious warriors of the capital, Xoco.

Achcauhcapalli lived in an terror filled state of constant war; violent raids were conducted at night, and bloody rituals to the Flaming Gods performed at the height of day with the sacrificial prisoners of war. Even the capital city was subject to near nightly attacks. The priesthood taught the young Necalli that war was as inevitable in life as the sunset, and that he needed to be prepared for it in order for the sun to rise anew.

A quick master of close quarters combat, Necalli earned the moniker, 'The Cutter of Men,' because, even as a young boy sparring with full grown Achcauhcapallians, his foes always found themselves nicked, scarred and bleeding. Necalli's prestige grew and he joined the defence of Xoco at an age
most Achcauhcapallian boys were first drawing their spears.

The day the Emperor landed was the day of the greatest offering Xoco had ever seen. The previous night a ferocious and devastating blow was dealt to the foes of the Xoco, and scores of captives were taken back to the capital under Necalli's leadership. During the ritual sacrifice, as the prisoners of war were burned alive, a great golden figure descended from the sky. Neither the priesthood nor the Cutter's warriors reacted with hostility, and the figure was welcomed among them. The tale of the Wandering Sun, Xipac, had become legend in Xoco since Necalli's childhood.

As the golden clad Xipac rose to the top of the Ziggurat of Xocoyotl, Necalli prostrated himself and swore his allegiance. The Emperor of Mankind had found another son.

Before leaving Achcauhcapalli, Necalli was gifted the great black cat-like creature, Icnoli. The pitch black Icnoli was a sign to the great sun warrior Necalli and a reminder from the high priests.

In order for the sun to rise and the day be full of joy and hope, the night must be a time of violence. Peace cannot be achieved without constant strife and, as Necalli follows Xipac to new suns, the nights will be darker than any night on Achcauhcapalli.

The Sons of the Cutter strike like a pride of lions, remaining unseen until it is time to unleash their fury. There is no stealth from the Claws once the order has been given to kill, as they collapse on their foes from all angles. A 3rd Legion assault will be heralded by a wall of promethium and warp-fire from widespread Claw Librarians and then finished by the lightning savagery of its legionnaires.

Each Claw of Xipac has the ambition to capture a target of high importance during their battle whilst lesser foes are dispatched mercilessly and left to die. Ranking enemy officers and enemy psykers are deemed as great captures. Those captured by the 3rd Legion are not kept as prisoners, rather sacrificed ritually by the 'Masters of the Fire,' a rank of marine charged with upholding the traditions of the 3rd Legion and derived from the priesthood of Necalli's homeworld.

The Claws of Xipac are easily mistaken for bloodthirsty by outsiders or even many of their brother legions. They are however, like their gene-father, incredibly traditional and determinedly loyal to both the Emperor and to peace. The 3rd Legion hold closely to their Achcauhcapallian roots and their superstitious nature leaves them believing that peace does not last and cannot be achieved without constant warfare.

There is great celebration each time the Claws are victorious in their violent mission, not a prideful display of prowess but one that aims to welcome in a new day of
peace – until they are summoned to war once more.

Imperial citizens and worlds are at the heart of each mission for the Sons of Necalli. Their mission is the eradication of enemies of the Imperium for the betterment of mankind and the safety of its people. The Claws find it hard to trust the soldier who would not lay his life down for the defence of imperial citizens because it is unclear what they truly fight for.

Per Star Guardian's request..I present a Star Guardians Breacher Assault Legionary wearing unique Void Pattern Power Armour! Enjoy!

gallery_4536_13993_129681.png

A Star Guardians Breacher Assault Legionary arrayed in Void Pattern Power Armour. This particular pattern, which is unique to the Legion as their Primarch who designed it, is a heavier version of Mk III battle-plate, although it is not as heavy as Terminator Armour. Visually this armour design bears many similarities to the standard Mk III 'Iron' pattern battle-plate it is based on, but also has many significant differences. This pattern possesses extra chest plates that rise from the plastron, which is designed to be easily replaced if damaged. This pattern also has larger shoulder pauldrons, bearing visual similarities with the prototype Tartaros Terminator Armour, although lacking any sort of field generators. The final change is a segmented piece of armour which acts as added protection for the sensitive groin area, which is often damaged in battle. It is not unheard of for a Star Guardians Legionary to replace it with tank track links.
