The Night Sentinels
Name: The Night Sentinels
Legion: Number: I
Legion Size: 140,000
Legion Tactics: Shock Assault, Planetary Decimation and Systematic Extermination, Planet-Kill and Extermination Operations.
Battle Cry: “Non Veni De Noctem!” (“From Night We Come!”)
Primarch: Onus Farron, The Dark Blade
Loyalty: Traitor
First born in the Emperors grand vision the first Legiones Astartes have always found their place at the forefront of war. Boasting a vast array of Unification and early Great Crusade honours amongst its officers and veterans. To many, this legion served as exemplar to its younger cousins for many decades but that all changed with the coming of the primarchs as all things did.
Found upon a world hallowed and broken, Onus Farron grew up in the care of the worlds revered defenders the Night Sentinels. These warriors who’s purpose was only to protect the dark worlds denizens from the horrors of the now barren and never ending mines spread across the planet like veins and the nightmarish horrors who strike at night. Farron’s adoptive brothers trained him well and instilled in him their culture, their ways and in this he like all the people of Vultar grew to hate the dwellers in the darkness; the impure, the mutant, the witch…the unperfected.
Through the decades of endless attrition circumstance found Farron becoming head of the order and the exalted guardian of the surface. Alas, this was not enough, not for Farron and not for the people of Vultar. The horrors in the dark never stopped and in time their destruction of the surface was all but complete and only Farron and a last bastion of the Sentinels remained. All was lost, until the Emperor arrived and offered Farron the truth and a bargain; the safety and salvation of his home for his and his warriors unending loyalty to the Imperium. Left with no other choice, Farron accepted, and from the sky lances of almost holy fire rained down, cleansing the surface and the deep tunnels of Vultar. With this, Farron learned of the Crusade, of his origins, his true purpose and of a galaxy suffering like his home from the xenos, witch and mutant. With a new purpose and now armed with a legion bathed in pride and honour, Farron took to the void and renamed the Ist Legion the Night Sentinels in honour of the fallen of Vultar. The Sentinels took to their new purpose with vigour unheard of amongst the legions, liberating world after world from oppression and mutation. After each world conquered all signs of imperfection removal, genetic deviation purged, each and every sign of unperfected humanity burned away systematic and with ruthless efficiently. Whole populations exterminated to insure no planet suffered from rampant mutations like Vultar.
The Night Sentinels seek only the perfection of the form blessed to them by the Emperor. Their martial skills must be peerless, their minds cunning and swift and their bodies treated as temples to genetic mastercraft. In this, the Sentinels inherited Farron’s thrust of perfection and despise bionics in any form, seeing it as both ugly and weakness, preferring instead to replace lost limbs with vat-grown flesh material grafted on by the legion’s Skinsmiths Apothecaries. This has seen them at odds with the Mechanicum more than once. The practice has, over time, transformed once beautiful Astartes into hulking Frankenstein-like monsters covered in a patchwork of flesh and graft. With these physical changes, also came changes in their overall demeanour. The legion now descended upon planets with pure shock and awe. Tank squadrons deployed en mass and companies of marines in silver and blue wielding sword and bolter purged any trace that deviated from their perceived ideals of the Emperor’s perfection. But this had the worst effect on the proud and noble men as the crusade droned on….the legion started to take sick pleasure in their duty, and some even saw angels of violet and pink whisper in their deepest dreams….of how all life was unpure…..all the universe needed to be cleansed of their mutation…..how it was their duty to humanity. In this the legion’s morals became blurred, their path to damnation and treachery sealed. It all came to a tragic head in the Grundas System…300 billion souls lost…43 planets wiped clean of all life…. a forge world cleansed of its filthy weakness…and a legion who lost its mind.

The Kraken Lords
Name: The Kraken Lords
Legion: Number: VIII
Legion Size: 88,000
Legion Tactics: Shock Assault, Close-Quarters Assault, Shock & Awe, Armour & High-Intensity Warfare.
Battle Cry:
Primarch: Nautis Soltair, The Tempest Lord
Loyalty: Traitor
The Legion itself numbers roughly 88,000 Legionaries with numerous support personnel. This is divided into eight fleets numbering 11,000 each, branded Houses or a Lodge. Each House/Lodge is led by a Chieftain and a council of his most expert warriors. Each fleet has its own legends, glories, defeats and victories transcribed in large Kraken skin tomes that rest inside the chamber of the Chieftain. These tomes are read aloud by the Chieftain on the eve before battle, recounting tales of heroism, conquest and sometimes, bitter defeat. These readings are meant to inspire the Legion to act like those who came before them, or to do better than their ancestors in similar situations that lead to defeat.
The legion’s favored method of combat is close quarter assaults, where the skills honed on Osiris before becoming marines are best put to use, closing the gap with the enemy as quickly as possible. Because of this the legion has a high number of Land Raider and Spartan Assault Tanks, with the Primarch’s fleet equipped with no less than 50 Mastodon Carriers. Tribal tattoos, hairstyles and piercings are common place amongst the legion, many sporting facial hair adorned with silver beads and stone talismans to ward off death and other superstitious natures.
The legion shares an almost unheard of closeness with itself, with the legion traveling back home once every ten years to celebrate glories gained, honours earned, and to mourn their brothers who have fallen throughout their numerous campaigns. This warrior brotherhood is instilled into each and every marine throughout the entirety of the legion from birth on their homeworld, extending so far as to being very personal with themselves and other Legions, sometimes leading to conflict as they sometimes blatantly ignore rank from time to time.
Nautis compassion for the lives of his men and the lives of humanity in general can be seen as a weakness by some, often requesting that Imperial Army elements offer up a supporting or rear guard role for his legionaries and their heavy tanks. He often takes the frontline and leads the spearhead himself so as to possibly save lives by using his battle prowess to break an enemy force.
As the events of the Great Crusade progress and his warriors discovered more and more things controlled by the Deep, they would go to all ends if it means it's eradication or it's subjugation...eventually leading the legion down a darker path.

The Storm Raptors
Legion: Number: XIV
Legion Size: 114,000
Legion Tactics: Planetstrike Campaigns, Multi-Vector Suborbital Attack, Aerial Assault, Strategic Decapitation Strikes.
Primarch: Ba-Lor, The Falcon
Legion Home World: Abia Prima
Heritage: Scottish/Celtic-themed
Loyalty: Loyalist
The Storm Raptors are the XIVth Legion of the 20 Legiones Astartes created by the Emperor. Led by the Primarch Ba-Lor, the legion was famed for lightning attacks and swift redeployments prior to the Heresy, being extremely hard to pin down their location and impossible to be drawn into a protracted battle. Famed for his ability to quickly analyze enemy weaknesses and strike with unsurpassed precision Ba-Lor leads his legion from the forefront causing critical damage wherever they strike!
Due to their home worlds unique environment, the Storm Raptors start their life as the Emperors aerial assault specialists. Having made strong allies with the Kraken Lords and LongXi, Ba-Lor readjusted the allocated vehicles through valuable trades, resulting the the Raptors having an unusually large amount of Land Speeders, fliers (including but not limited to Storm Talons/Hawks, Storm Ravens/Eagles and Fire Raptors). Along with this trade, Ba-Lor has been able to acquire the STC pattern for the Embarus Pattern armour created by the Ashen Crows.
Ba-Lor was quite set on getting access to this to improve the mobility of his legion and allow them to operate as close to optimum as possible.
Each legionary hones their skills in the use of Jet Packs as soon as they join the ranks of the Astartes. Viewed by many as “unique” due to their choice of movement, they are often called upon by other legions and the Imperial Army when key elements of the foe are too swift to pin down, can't be found or simply can't be reached by traditional tactics.
Ba-Lor and the Legion as a whole have a hard time accepting the news that their close friends and strong allies
When The Kraken Lords fell to the forces of the Warmaster. Ba-Lor vowed to do everything he can to bring his friend Nautis Soltair and his Kraken Lords back under the guidance of the Emperor.

The Dragon Lords
Legion: Number: XVII
Legion Size: 50,000
Battlecry “We are the Hammer! We are the Bulwark”
Legion Home World: Pax Primaris
Legion Tactics: Psychic Combat, High Numbers and Heavy Armour, Large War Fleets
Primarch: Camelous, The Dragon King, The Sword of Oblivion
Loyalty: Loyalist
“The Dragon Lords in one word is ‘power’. Their Primarch is everything you would expect leading such a legion… And somehow not.”
Even before being united with their primarch the XVIIth Legion was known for having a very substantial (and rapidly growing) number of psykers. While the legion in part recruited from psychic candidates, many non-psykers who became legionaries seemingly had awakened their psychic potential after becoming full Astartes – whether this was intended or a side effect perhaps only the Emperor knew. This trend only increased in pace after being reunited with their Primarch.
The Primarch Camelous had been named the ancient founder of the psychic tradition where he grew up, and united the planet under his banner. His psychic powers where noticed by the Emperor and he was the second Primarch to be discovered, and initially served under the Emperor’s tutelage. The legion – and its primarch – were completely devoted to the service of the Emperor and his ideals of a united Imperium of Man, by any means necessary.
As a person Camelous reflected his legion, he had the demeanor of a calm disciplined soldier. While he was not overly fond on ceremony, and overly idealistic himself, he DID respect these qualities in others. Camelous had a reputation of being a calm calculating presence rather than having an inspiring personality – by primarch standards anyway – however, under the right circumstances he could be quite pleasant and even charming. The truth was the primarch cared for everyone – too much – no matter how much he tried to always see things in a bigger picture. On the battlefield is where truly Camelous shone as a commander, rallying marines and humans, while creating enormous storms psychic power while shielding his allies from harm.
Legion tactics, outlook and personality:
“Your past is gone. Every planet you fight on is your home. Every system the fleet reaches is your domain.”
The XVIIth legion was often regarded as more of a hammer than the tip of a spear by legion standards, with a somewhat inflexible structure and disregard for certain equipment like bikes, jet speeders and even widespread use of Terminator Armour. This meant that the legion was deployed in large numbers on massive battlefields, preferring to leave surgical attacks, hit & run, infiltration and more specialized operations to legions more proficient in at this, if possible.
In terms of combat mind-set the legion was typically one of mission success over personal glory. Amongst the Dragon Lords, personal duty and honour was something that was generally disregarded in favour of a similar idea on a squad level. The Primarch wanted a legion of soldiers, not glory-seeking warriors or knights blinded by honour.
The legion would often employ squads of 30 marines with two squad leaders, which could be split into two demi-squads if the need should arise. Squads of marines with weaker psychic abilities would often be formed into squads to allow them to collectively manifest psychic powers (brotherhood of psykers) while often being led by more skilled psyker-sergeants (so called Dragon Knights). Due to larger squad sizes the legion favoured Spartan Assault Tanks and Stormbirds in preference of the Rhino armoured personnel carrier or the ubiquitous Land Raider, many of them which were modified according to the instructions of their Primarch. Additionally, the legion used enormous quantities of force weapons.

Wow, only just seen you did all this, there is certain things wrong though. The Sirens of Kastar are loyalist, Light Bringers, Void Walkers, Phoenix's Legacy and the scorpus crusaders are traitors.
The IX are called the Kindred sons, they are new to the project so we don't have a public summery of them yet. the VI are the blood angels, but they are purged, the XIX are the Word bearers and they are purged as well. They are our missing legions.
Certain information is out of date as we are re-working certain aspects.

Claws if Xipac
Per Star Guardian's request..I present a Star Guardians Breacher Assault Legionary wearing unique Void Pattern Power Armour! Enjoy!
A Star Guardians Breacher Assault Legionary arrayed in Void Pattern Power Armour. This particular pattern, which is unique to the Legion as their Primarch who designed it, is a heavier version of Mk III battle-plate, although it is not as heavy as Terminator Armour. Visually this armour design bears many similarities to the standard Mk III 'Iron' pattern battle-plate it is based on, but also has many significant differences. This pattern possesses extra chest plates that rise from the plastron, which is designed to be easily replaced if damaged. This pattern also has larger shoulder pauldrons, bearing visual similarities with the prototype Tartaros Terminator Armour, although lacking any sort of field generators. The final change is a segmented piece of armour which acts as added protection for the sensitive groin area, which is often damaged in battle. It is not unheard of for a Star Guardians Legionary to replace it with tank track links.
So since things have changed quite a bit in the project, I thought I'd take it upon myself to update this.
