First Armies On Parade since 8th ed began?

I was at my local Games Workshop Warhammer Store and the local redshirt gave me this:

It occurred to me this might be the first Armies On Parade since 8th ed started. That means Primarus Marines or the new Death Guard. I'm trying to remember if there was one after Gathering Storm, so it could mean the first time Roboute Guilliman and Ynarri showed up on parade.

On the back of this card, there is a table we can fill in to compile and organise our to-do list. Very carefully and thoughtfully, I wrote:

Yeah this is some good planning.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi guys, just reporting in, to share intel for those entering for their Armies On Parade for the 1st time, because today was our AoS Armies On Parade day.

Both my local stores (Bristol and Cribbs Causeway) are only running it for one day on Saturday 4th Nov as they’ve both said that running it for the full 2 weeks is impractical. The question is which store to enter at?

Here's what I learned: all you need is to find a small/new Warhammer Store, just meet the requirements for 3+ minis on a "stage" to qualify, and you'll win something.

There was 1 entry that was literally 3 brimstone horrors on a small rock formation mounted on a Dreadnought base.  It was inspired.

It's really more of a local community building "check out what I made" thing than Golden Daemons by far.  2 full weeks IS impractical.  For all intents and purposes, it really just needed to be today, we have like a week just to place our armies there because the local manager is nice and gave us just more time to set up in-store really.

Please note, we had a limited time window for voting.  Votes had to be cast before 6 PM here.  We were told the date, but not the time, pls check with your store.

I've posted my WIP at: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340376-patient-zero-chaos-daemons-astra-militarum-artillery-army/ to show how I responded to each learning about this.

I was actually pretty bummed about the Armies on Parade, myself. I had started my now-defunct Necron project with the intent to enter them into the Parade. With the issues that fell into, and seeing all the nifties on at my local GW store - I'm super fired up for the next one.

Maybe they'll do the Circle thing during the spring again?

Good luck to those who've entered this year! Glory to the victors!

Thank you, Fraters, but 1st things 1st:

The best of luck!

I entered AoS last week and am waiting for the store to post the results on FB, and entered my CSM in the 40k AoP this morning.

Been meaning to ask, did your Warhammer Store require a battleboard or a self-made "stage platform" to display your army on?

I checked the official Armies on Parade site, they say "no, not required", but our local store required it. Our redshirt, a very helpful guy, he genuinely contributed ideas and even offered his own bitz, was surprised when I pointed it out. Probably a miscommunication and I'm actually glad they made me do it, I just submitted my entry:

No, entries didn’t need a board (I think some Jpn GWs lend entrants the store’s Realm of Battle boards)...or an army.

For the AoS at one store there were five entries, two on boards and three not (actually single minis).

For 40k there seems to be four entries on bases...and one single mini.

Thanks for the heads up, Brother Kierdale. We gotta iron this out with our local manager.

Our local redshirt is being on the level with us, I reckon he got orders from above, someone somewhere wants to sell battleboards, etc.

Also, got my badge, yo.

One of our Warhammer friends is married to a fashion designer. I'm going to ask how I can turn those lesser badges into cufflinks.

You won a category? Nice one!

Me too ;)

If you get those cuff links done, post a pic :tu:

I started a

Thread for people to post images of their AoP2017 entries HERE. If you want, please post some photos there too. Only I have so far :( (and those were just quickies. I need to edit down the good, big images).

I was told (though this was last year or the year before) that bases can be no larger than 2x2 (wasnt told about the no base rule)but bases dont have to be GW boards, I could use the cheap crap from the back of the wardrobe if I wanted. The new manager is now pushing Realm of Battle boards for entry. Hell I can understand she wants to turn a profit and keep the store numbers up but she is killing the store as no one goes in any more.

When I initially started this thread, I was curious if anyone would submit new armies for 8th, like Primaris Marines or the new Death Guard.

It turns out: not this time for our local store.

We got 6 entries for 40k, 1 of them very clearly influenced by the Fall of Cadia, but that's about it for reflecting this new era.

This is neither good or bad, just an observation, but perhaps next year using the new models might be an angle for those interested.
