Aesthetics of Sisters

When I clicked this thread I was expecting something along the lines of 'stained glass windows vs reliquaries' or 'fiery torches vs smoking censers'.  You think i'd have learned better by now!  :)

For the record though....

Heels - No, because you cannot run after Heretics in heels.

Boobplate - Yes, because otherwise we're space marines.

Bobs - Classic, sure...but change could be good too.

If Ginger Rodgers could dance backwards in heels with Fred Astair, then any Battle Sister worth her salt could easily chase down a heretic while wearing heels and throwing a krak grenade. Yes to all the questions, because:

1. Warhammer is a fantasy future. If you are hung up on how body armor just isn't realistic, then you are really going to have a hard time with Eldar, Nurgle, or warp storms.

2. The aesthetics and lore of the Sororitas is what got me into WH 40k. They don't look like your run of the mill Space Marine.

3. Having a bob haircut is no more odd than US Marines having a "flat top". We are talking about women who are fanatically devoted to a long dead emperor. Sisters of Silence are into the Top knot thing, so who is to say a bob cut is unreasonable?

Heels- no

Bobs- no. I'm not saying don't give the option but I'd like different styles.

Boob plate- yes. I like the way they did sisters of silence, they weren't crazy and fit well. That said my converted rets are modeled in heavier armor with no boob plates.

I voted no on heels, yes on the others, mostly because I’m more interested in just preserving the current aesthetic. I almost didn’t want to vote for the “boob plate” one because of the “make guardsmen blush” part of the line, because “sexy sisters” is the last thing I want, since that’s not the point of the army as far as I’m concerned. Heels - Until Veridyan this was never really a part of the figure line. I don't mind it on her though as it does bring to life our first codex cover art.

Boobplate - Keep it, its a huge part of the aesthetic and makes them look female. I would stay away from the Canoness or Repentia Mistress versions though. The original look is better.

Bobs - Yes please, I don't like the idea of shaved heads, pony tails or whatever. Though I would like to see variety by including helmets, wimples, possibly hoods.

Heels, i'm not really that fussed about them. If a few character models end up with heels, it's no big deal. Greyfax's heels look ok and it helps give her a little extra hight so she stands out a bit better. Veridyan's heels are ugly a sin! I think they look like Zoidberg's hands.

Boob plate, although it's not realistic, it helps make the models identifiably female and besides, it's a sci-fi fantasy game realism is not the be all and end all.

Bobs, it's the definitive sisters look. With that said though, i don't mind if there's some variation for character models to help them stand out.

BOBS FOR THE BOB EMPEROR!!!

1. Most of the models have no heels, so no heels please.

2. boob plate, i think it's fine. the chest section of SoB look like they're corsets anyway.

3. bobs, yea haha i like the haircut.

I like the current aesthetic. Additional head styles would be nice, but I am a fan of the bob cut. Maybe a set with helmet, bob cuts, and wimples (along the lines of "Sister Sin") with enough to make a whole squad uniform for each option.

I would not change anything fundamental to their long standing look. Finer detail, more dynamic posing, better designed faces, and that's it.

As a general commentary on the validity of the poll results, I think they exhibit strong artifacts of sampling bias. Of course the members of a fan community of a product line are going to be in favour of the current aesthetics of that product line.

Well yeah, it’s a poll of what the Sisters players on the B&C want, not an objective poll of 40K players

Heels - no. I could say more but please no. (insert "NO" gif here)

Boob plate - Yes, however if/when we get plastics I would like to see some variations.

Bob - Yes, but would like to see a some variations. More helmets though please, I like the helmets.

To be fair, the opinions of of non-sisters players with regards to the current aesthetics, do not matter. They dont play or collect them. :)

In regards to heels. I think the inquisitor greyfax model (which i think we can all agree looks great) shows that geedubs isnt afraid to give models power armour stilettos. :D

Definately second the desire for more helmets.

Interesting discussion.

Heels: On characters, yes, but for the average Sister I think more sensible shoes would make more sense.

Boob plates: Again, depends. I like the boob plates, they give me a "Greco-Roman anatomically idealized breastplate" look (except more restrained) but I wouldn't want them any more boobalicious than on the current models. The "armoured bustier with cleavage-covering cable" look is a good one. That said, for variety's sake I wouldn't mind, say, Retributors with more heavy-duty, non-boobed breastplates.

Bobs: Once again, depends. Variety is always nice but the bobs are both classic and adorable. Though I wouldn't mind more hairstyles for certain; double buns anyone?

Well, I don't think you can say that the opinions of those who don't play sisters don't matter, as perhaps they would play sisters if they had a different aesthetic.

As for Greyfax, I agree she looks great, but I think she would look better with sensible shoes. :)
