Who to best represent a new Lord Solar? (Macharius inspired)

Guys, I am gradually getting models together to start my Guard.

As an Ultramarine and Grey Knight player I've never had a shortage of incredible commanders to chose from to lead my armies. I love the idea of a Grand hero leading my forces; like Guilliman, Calgar, Draigo or Voldus.

None of the Astra-Militarum commanders are quite as inspiring as the Marine legends, and that may well be by design. I'm familiar with the story of Macharius, who became Lord Solar and conquered a massive number of star systems with relative ease. I want a similar hero to lead my army - perhaps someone who recently served under and learned from the Primarch.

I've just acquired the Lord Solar model in fact and I'm wondering how you guys think would be best to represent him? I'm thinking of using him as a Counts-as Creed but you might have other suggestions. I like Yarrick's re-roll bubble but the rest of the rules and wargear don't really fit...

He could probably work as a lord commissar with the order WL trait. Add a relic weapon and he should feel suitably Macharian... or, about as good as you could expect, anyway. :P
Another option might be Straken, not sure how well itd fit though...

To make a 'suitable' Marcharius, you'd almost have to take Creed, give him the Vostroyan relice, the Sword of Conquest, the Laurels of Command, and a suitable warlord trait. Basically, its impossible. The man was that awesome.

With that in mind, a vostroyan warlord with a power sword, their armor relic, and the first warlord trait isn't too bad a representation.

As a more serious reply how ever, with my IG forces (combined arms, infantry and AirCav) I've always been of the mind to keep my HQ's as cheap as possible. If they are in CQB I've done something wrong, If they are in position to use a Bolter, that's points I could've applied to a heavy/support weapon in a squad or an upgrade to an armoured vehicle....

Not sure if serious, troll or somebody whom has not actually read about the guard commanders.

Creed.

Straken.

Venner.

All 3 of them could make a great count as Solar depending on what you want out of your guys and fluff wise are exceptional leaders whom inspire literally millions to march to certain gruesome death for an ideal and for their fellow soldiers. In a world of giant bugs eating you, flickering xenos raiders and space anima extremists, being a general human who still does what these 3 does is balls to the wall inspiring to me, they dont need some fancy smancy armour or weapons, they have their guard issue adamantium balls.

Sorry, couldnt resist the lil bit there, but seriously, to say they are not inspiring at all is kind of, i dunno.....

As for tabletop count asing

Creed - Obvious choice for commanding generic troops that need commissars and gunlines, cadian special rules etc.

Straken - Your aggressive Lord Solar, the dude can fight pretty much any monster on the field and has a circle of inspiring badassery for everyone around him, add in catachan stuff and this is an aggressive Lord Solar proxy.

Venner - Much of the same command ability of Creed, however he cant get 1 shot by a lascannon, his troops will fight to the death for him and thank him for the chance to do it. Bonus of DKK which are fearless to gunfire and general badass.

All of them are acceptable imo, it comes round to how you want your army to function on the table.

Yarrick stands up against the best any Marine Chapter has to offer! AND he's currently an Ork powered immortal.

Anyway, another way to go would be to add in an Inquisitorial detachment and run him as an Inquisitor with some bodyguards? Frankly Inquisitors are poor this edition though. A Lord or Company commander as decked out as possible with wargear is probably the best you can do from the Guard Codex. Unless you want to chop off the top of your Macharius model and pop him in a Leman Russ, then run him as a Tank Commander or counts as Pask?

You could make him a walking platform of some variety and run him as Inquisitor Karamazov (spelling is wrong there I think...) That would be appropriately epic I think.
