Orks & Khorne

The Chaos Gods seem to get a kick off emotions that people are consciously driving themselves into indulging. When the human warrior loses his cool, lashes out and starts killing, or the politician stabs (metaphorically or not) his life long friend in the back to get himself ahead.

With the Orks, they're just doing what comes naturally to them. They kill coz dey is Orks and that's just how their brains are wired up from the start. There's no real 'conscious' thought there. As a result it doesn't fuel Khorne - and thus, avoids their attentions - as other sentient beings engaging in bloody warfare would, because waging war is like breathing.

That doesn't mean DIRECT intervention from the powers of the Warp couldn't corrupt them (like the 'zombie Orks' in the Death Guard book), but Khorne wouldn't take a notice of them himself.

I could be wrong of course, but that's just been my take on it.

To a large extent, Khorne is also to do with military discipline which in itself is anathema to a proper Orky mindset on things. In the same way that Stormboyz are in the main an early stage in Ork kultur which most Orks soon grow out of , so Khornate is seen by them in the same way.

There is Tuska Daemon-killa. He and his boyz spend their days joyfully fighting and dying in front of the Brass Citadel.

Sure but that has, I would say, more to do with Orks looking for the best fights more than worshiping Khorne. I would expect Khorne gets more out of his own daemons dying in those fights than it does from the Orks but who can say.  My only curiosity there is what would the Orks be like if they ever decided to head back to the universe.

If Khorne revives them and just lets them keep growing from fighting, even the smallest would be absolute giants. If the spores can grow there, or Khorne allows them to, for better wars, the green tide will just keep getting bigger and bigger. I don't really see Khorne killing the horde off if they got too big. He would want them to WAAAGH!! as much as possible and you could see them fighting all over the Eye. Tuska isn't too particular about the daemons he fights.

If they ever left the Eye, the WAAAGH!! would most likely eclipse that of the Beast and make Ghazghkull seem harmless by comparison.

Warp entities tend to get a bit fuzzy when we're talking about similar gods like this. One of the portrayals from the old Liber Chaotica I'd always liked was to think of the Gods more like massive whirlpools, revolving around each other. Khorne is the biggest whirlpool in the "Rage" section of ocean, and is primarily fueled by human souls, then you've got smaller whirlpools like Khaine, who's being pulled between the "Rage" and "Lust" sections of the ocean as Khorne and Slaanesh fight over it, but who used to be the biggest one in "Rage", until the Fall occurred, and Slaanesh took enough energy from Khaine that Khorne stopped orbiting Khaine and became the dominant whirlpool in its own right. Then we've got Gork/Mork, who probably get pulled a bit towards Tzeentch, what with the kunnin' and all.

By and large, Gork/Mork are the Ork equivalent of Khorne, given that they are Rage interpreted through an Ork mind, rather than Khorne being Rage interpreted through a human mind. The Stormboyz occasionally turn towards Khorne, given that Khorne has the elements of discipline and martial order that they prefer, rather than the "might makes right" anarchy promoted by Gork/Mork.

So really, it's not so much that they're "immune" to Khorne, just that there's so much overlap between the gods that Khorne doesn't really have anything to offer that Gork/Mork can't. Any "corruptions" that might occur would come mainly from circumstantial factors, like a Warboss using the awesome choppa he looted off those screaming Chaos boyz, and ending up being possessed by the daemon axe.

What else does Khorne offer that Gork/Mork don't already, and that an Ork actually cares about? They don't really care about winning, just fighting, so they don't care about the whole "strength to kill your enemies", or anything like that. They don't really fear death, they just want to fight, go fast, and shoot loud guns. Khorne has nothing they want.

This is what I feel about Orks as well. They just want a good krumping. Doesn't matter who wins to them. They are a bunch of adrenaline junkies. I love it!
