Warhammer community designers commentary.

You can find a pic in the OR thread and a link in the News thread.

Yeah

Cannot seem to find this.

What is the OR thread, and what is the article in the news thread called?

I am definitely missing something here

I donno about that. They are 3 points cheaper than a GM.

And libby with SS and Daemonhammer is 185. 5 points cheaper than Voldus.

No GM reroll. But psychic hood and 3++ save.

Edit. Take Voldus and some hammer libbies!

SS/Hammer libbies over Apoths?

Sadly, it seems by RAW we *can't* hve Strom Shields on our Librarian.

We use the Codex datasheet, which comes with a Nemesis Staff and no Storm Bolter.

The Index datasheet assumes the Librarian has a Force Staff to swap out and a Storm Bolter.  Equipped with neither, and with no Index option to purchase either, you can't swap out for a Storm Shield (or the Force Staff swap).

/sigh

Here I am, having my final Chemo drip, and dooped up to the eyeballs, and with a cursory glance in hospital I find flaws with their new Flow Chat.

Come on GW, you can be better than this, stop being lazy....

Well maybe GW just doesn't have much interest in GK. They skip a lot of stuff other marines can cross use[aka less stuff being bought], they don't have primaris, but have a lot of "confusing" gear and unit options. Sometimes GW makes a codex[or at least it was a thing in the past] to get done with it, and not be showered with question when they fix/do X or Y.

so now we can have Twin AC dreads with a sanctic power? e.g astral aim on it self? that sounds good

The question for you is... does it matter? Will you be using this unit?

I was a bigger fan of Dreads when we were all index armies. As time goes on, I'm actually finding I'm a fan of the Doomglaive, or just very, very cheap dreads.

A normal dreadnought       comes at 153p with full range support  with 48'' s7 -1 D2   8 shots,  with 176 points you get the same stats as venerable Dreadnought and with 165p you get the Doomglaive which it has 1/2 range 24'' with 6 shots and melee, depends what your list lacking of i believe, right?

Is the increased range and 2 more shots worth an extra 11 points while losing all melee capacity?

Consider you will probably have to move slowly across the battlefield to actually be in range, so you're already at -1 to hit. At best, the melee weapon is an CC deterrent for your opponent, unless they have enough power to kill you in a turn. It's unlikely you will make it into combat unless you give it transport or GoI.

am not sure a GK army has the points to bubble wrap GK rifleman, which is kind of a needed if you run any form of fire base in 8th. And if you are running soup, then I don't see the sense in runing GK dreads in the first place. May as well take marine ones. Not that dreads are top choice anyway, probably even with the razor nerf being in effect.

It's fine RAW to take a NF sword & SS on a GK Libby. The SS can be swapped for a storm bolter which is still an option. Under the GK section of the index there is notation saying GK librarians have NFWs.

Not by the new flowchart it isn't.

We need to use the codex datasheet. Which gives our librarians a NFS and nothing else.

Then we need to use the index wargear options.

One needs us to swap out a storm bolter we don't have. The other needs us to swap out a force staff we don't have either.

The GK libby is broken when it comes to the new index option flowchart.

Simply doesn't work.

The warding stave is obviously a force stave swap over, so you swap that out for whatever you want. The SB is a choice for the GK lib in both index and codex, so you could "purchase" a SB, and since you now have a SB, you could then swap it out for another weapon choice.

In the end, it doesn't really matter. Libs suck. For GK, you're basically paying more points just for a 3++ save.

No its not. A Nemesis Warding Staff is a totally different item to a Force Staff.

Your free to do whatever you want, but the rules do not allow you to use 1 as the other. Or to unlock choices based on one with the other.

The Storm Bolter is not a choice in the index. It is part of the base kit the index libby has. This again is not the case for the codex datasheet. Where the SB is an option.

The index datasheet has no option to purchase a SB. As the libby is assumed to already have one.

The GK index / codex relationship is totally broken. Due to being a cheap c&p job.

Here's how the flowchart works.

1. You select the Codex datasheet. Your libby now only has a NWS as its wargear.

2. You look at the index options.

First option is to swap the SB for a SS.

Your libby dies not have a SB. And the index does not give you the option to purchase one.

That's it.
