Considering the proximity in themes of Valerian Hive and its Neanthropes to the canonical Vhnori and its Crimson Walkers, we're considering just merging the two in the Warbringers history, and have them gaining gene-tech in the repression of Vhnori

I'd keep them separate for the sake of using our original ideas. Perhaps put Valerian further west?

It used to be placed in Oxitania/Oxytan, but having learned it's a canonverse thing I'm open to placing it still elsewhere

Do you mean next to the Bering straight or the white sea?

Leaving this here for Thorn when he's available again: I'm inclined towards "normalising" the Battle of the Exquine Falls. So it's simply a victory against a powerful enemy, but one where the Legion Master gives his life and divisions are opened up in the aftermath.

Blood of Oxytan, Lore of Valerian
The IXth Legion’s beginnings were less than auspicious. While their first recruit cadres were taken from the newly secured lands of Europa, as were the early intakes of the VIIth and XIIth Legions, their gene-seed was soon demonstrated to be of limited adaptability and high rejection rates resulted. Those Aspirants who made it through the rigours of their trials and implantations were of impressive quality, but scarce in number.

Unwilling to expend Aspirants unnecessarily, the Emperor dictated that the other Legions receive the lion’s share of recruits, until such time as the IXth’s flaws could be corrected. This would have the unintended consequence of fostering a coherent Legion culture from their very earliest years, as the highest success rates had been observed with recruits from the polities of Oxytan in Europa’s east. The armies here had demonstrated a remarkable degree of cohesion, and knelt readily to the Emperor. Their martial traditions became concentrated in the IXth Legion, whose livery soon came to reflect this heritage.

Several other Legions would have to wait until the gene-looms and lore of Luna were secured for the Imperium, but the IXth’s story would take another turn. Mustering only a Chapter at the start of the war on the Pan-Pacific Empire, they were deployed as a support force to Imperial forces in the northwestern theatre. In this campaign they demonstrated a tendency which would come in time to define them; an aptitude and willingness to take direct command of other Imperial forces, be they mortals or Thunder Warriors. This greatly amplified the Legion’s strategic value, with their own strength brought to bear on a crucial point of the battlefield.

In that fashion the Legion led the storming of Hive Valerian, atop the forbidding cliffs of Kuril. Valerian was the seat of the Neanthrope gene-cult, oathed to Narthan Dume and indeed privy to certain works of his own deranged brilliance. While the scientific lore gathered here could not rival that held on Luna, but in the hand of IXth Legion apothecaries it proved to be of great value indeed. As has been documented elsewhere, gene-splicing and flesh grafts only served to create monsters before the Emperor raised up the Custodians and Space Marines, and Valerian’s gene-looms and surgeries were no exception to that rule.

However, the IXth Legion found that fragments of the knowledge stored here promised to fix the problems of adaptability and compatibility within their own gene-seed. The Apothecaries of the Legion had absorbed much of the scientific riches of Oxytan, and immediately recognised the potential of Valerian’s bounty. They signalled to Imperial high command that their victory had yielded prizes far greater than a city.

Brought to the Emperor’s Himalayzian laboratories, these were given to His scientists and used to work the desired changes upon the IXth’s genetic template, finally allowing them to grow at the same pace as their more established cousins. Similar progress had been hoped for with the Pariah Legions, whose growth had been even more stunted, but those aspirations came to naught. As a result, many of the recruits intended for those Legions went to the IXth and swelled their numbers even more.

Thorn and I were discussing the potential size of the Oneiron Cluster/Principality, and broadening the number of worlds from which the Novadeka are recruited. Gonna jot down my proposals here:

- Regiments I through IV are Strelan

- The others occupy other worlds within the Strelan system or outside it

- We could have some sharing worlds - Mogugrad might work as a bunch of states on Kzarn, with Rad-Walkers in the vault-archologies, and Zharish Cossacks and Chelo Revenants out in the wastes

- I'd go for Zalmox and Vostala being their own worlds, if it comes to that

Zalmoxis and Vostala are already worlds in the Jagellonic system. Zalmoxis being an orbital plate.

Ah. What would you say to the idea of putting Mogugrad on Kzarn, and maybe expanding Vostala?

Spun out some fluff for the sixth regiment of the Novadeka:

Chelo Revenants

The Chelo were the tribes who subsisted in the rad-wastes of Kzarn. Caught between more powerful factions in the early years after their world’s fall, the ancestors of the Chelo had realised their defences could not hold for long, and so their masters decided to make a refuge of the inhospitable rad-wastes. Genetic alterations were made to the people, adapting them to live in the wilderness but profoundly altering them. Gaunt and hairless, they became adept rangers and scouts, carving out a niche in those regions where their old enemies feared to tread. Kozja would make them a powerful infantry force, with substantial elements of scouts and rangers.

For Ultynmor, I have a few ideas regarding the Novadeka:

  • Rad-Walkers, Cataphracts and Ironclad seem best suited to the vanguard, presumably along with the Uhlans
  • The Chelo Revenants and Voltigeurs could be deployed for diversionary attacks
  • Deathstrike units might be good for infiltrating fortresses and particularly carrying out the mercy-kill duties in the torment-shrines
  • Possibly add some Silent Sisters or Godslayers/XVIIth Legion
  • Tryzub Terminators vs Wraithguard?
  • Spotlight Perkenas and his blademasters fighting Eldar warriors, possibly as Kozja's escort

  • Doctor Perils likes this

In light of recent events, and in concertation with Skalpynock, and to prevent misuse of my content, I officially rescind the Warbringers, Genesys Legion, and all associated content from the Brotherhood of the Lost project.

I ought to make some progress on the Empire of Torment campaign.

Should we involve Titans and Knights?
