Heldrake has no respect for your laws of physics

In the course of reading the 8th edition rulebook, I was fascinated by the statement that all vehicles with bases (i.e. flyers) do their measurements from the base and not the hull.

 

And by "fascinated", I mean my brain immediately went "Do something stupid with a flyer!"

Thanks guys. It can get a bit awkward, but it flies high enough to clear anything of Imperial Knight stature and lower. Tall terrain is a bit of an issue at times, though.

The statue, thankfully, is a hollow model so no drilling involved. Just filled with it gravel, then sand, then poured thinned-out glue in the mix to turn it all solid. The whole apparatus, thanks to my kitchen scale, clocks in at 368 grams. 73 of those are the Heldrake itself, the rest is all counterbalance. Levers, fulcrums, and all, I think. I watched Bill Nye as a kid, that's all my expertise on the matter.

For the longest time I didn't realize the heldrake was attached to the statue and I thought you were using opposing magnets to keep the thing afloat.

I tried really hard to do a floating Monolith that way. Turns out it really doesn't work so well, balancing on magnetic fields is borderline impossible without some fancy gadgetry. But it was a nice attempt

By the way, I love the idea. It's sure to confuse and mess with some opponents, and yet isn't cheating in any way. Brilliant.
