Plague Drone conversion - use all the weapons! :v

I did what I intended since Dark Imperium and the latest drone 3-pack came out. I got myself 3 very cheap DI drones off some people who had no idea what's good in life and the Drone box itself. This allowed me to assemble 4 different drones, each with a different faceplate (in DI drones you need to shave off about 3mm of the whole length of the lip right above the "respirator" and the groove on it, for the non-DI faceplates to fit - it's really easy to figure out), as well as magnetize all of the weapon choices.

Enjoy! :)

Haha, I'm partway through doing the same thing. Nice work!

I haven't tried magnetizing the weapons, yet, though, since I'm starting out with a dedicated trio of plaguespitters. How difficult is this process? Some of the weapon mounts are pretty spindly, so it seems like getting any kind of robust magnet in there would be awkkard. I'd be interested to know what you used!

I've recognized that there would be no way for me to adjust magnets properly without a trick up my sleeve. They all have to match in symmetry, especially for the triple cannon and the lawnmower.

The trick is to use a 3mm drill and make a hole in the centre of the socket, through and through, both sides. Make sure you drill in the same direction the weapon is connected, perpendicular to the surface and the connection slot's rim! VERY IMPORTANT!

Then glue a 3x1mm round magnet onto the tip of the weapon connection, let that dry. Once it holds nicely, get a 3x2mm more "barrel shaped" magnet on it, just allow it to magnet-stick there. Then use the weapon as a guide and stick the 3x2 inside the drilled hole (no glue!), as far as it will go. Move the weapon around to ensure it "clicks" into the shapes surrounding the hole you drilled, as if you were doing it per mini's instruction. If you drilled the holes correctly then the 3x2 will stick in there permanently. If it's loose, you can pull it out and use a minimal amount of glue to help it stick.

Do the same thing with all the slots, remember to use the same polarity all around not to mix things up and for the weapons to be fully interchangeable. Also, remember not to cut into or file off anything aside from flash from the connection tips on the weapons or your 3x1 will stick out at a wrong angle.
