I also like how they didn't bother to upgrade Sergeant Culn and he still has 25 mm base and Mk VII legs/arms/backpack in the pic advertising Mk IV box. They could refresh random dudes with largely identical parts to new bases but not centrepiece character that could really use picture showing full Mk IV look? whistlingW.gif

Slight point of pedantry, but that's not Sergeant Culln, it's Sergeant Haas. That PA upgrade kit is originally from Anphelion, which first introduced Culln as a Captain (Commander) in his TDA. There was a Sergeant version of Culln, from Vraks (because that campaign was set earlier in m41, despite a few timeline errors in the story), where he led an Assault/Vanguard squad (can't remember which, maybe both, as the Scorpions did deploy to Vraks twice) but that hasn't been redone in this re-release.

To be honest I like that they have included the resin MK IV helms and torsos. In my opinion the resin helmets are superior, with deeper recesses for washes to flow into and sharper edges for highlighting.

One reason why they may be included is that all the pieces of the original MK IV kit are likely all part of the same mould, and so to to just include the Sergeant Haas conversion pieces would mean they would have to re cut the mould just for those few bits. A far more costly version that just including all the pieces to begin with.

Wow, FW is really proud of their original chapter.  I guess they're pretty cool but I don't understand the entirety of why FW is pushing the RS so hard . . . unsure.png

Losing 'hope' after 10k years just because of a big warp storm? Doesn't sound like my Blood Angels.

Never had hope to begin with; they had duty, and that was enough.

For what it's worth, Forge World didn't create the chapter. The Red Scorpions first showed up in White Dwarf, in the history of the Badab War.

Think he was saying people want choices besides the same old Red Scorpions.

I don't think FW is large enough to support every chapter from FW, nor is there a high enough demand back in 2010-2013 when they tried to, so now they just focus on Red Scorpions and a little bit of Minotaurs. A lot of the resources that would have gone into more xenos or chapters was used on 30K. Can't forget about how much money, time, and manpower 30K must have taken, so it's not like FW is just sitting around twiddling their thumbs and making a couple Red Scorpions kits.

Actually yes it was, Culln is right there in the VV squad, both heads included, albeit unnamed:

vanculln1.jpg

Though yeah, I forgot which of the special snowflakes was the PA leader (though, funny story here, there is now Haas team in F1 in Red Scorpions colours...) but my point about not updating 12 year old photo and model still stands.

No combi melta pistol sad.png that’s a big no for me

Well, aren't you glad they decided to replace it with special, totally-not-generic, no-rules, impossible-to-convert-to-any-other-chapter banner instead? rolleyesclean.gif

I thought the Sergeants doubled up as apothecaries?

That would require them actually having actual chapter tactics back, silly. Can't you imagine just how high the cost of adding mere 3 extra lines of text to Index:FW would be? How could they budget for such an expense? rolleyesclean.gif Plus, it would be probably broken or something, imagine whole SM army having access to 5+++ saves, we can't have such an unprecedented thing, eh?

I beg to differ. It wouldn't be a walk in the park, but I could dremel that into a plain banner without too much work. And I just might, a few modifications and a tattered banner would make for a great sharks ancient

I'd get Culln just to collect because as soon as he hits the table, he's a dead man ... again

You think so? T8 and 4++ with 2+ armor and a 6+ FNP with 15 wounds?

Fairly hard to get rid of IMO, that and whenever I have seen a leviathan on the table in my local meta its always been a bear to deal with, if you do kill it its after much painstaking attempt lol.

They've been around since Rogue Trader. I think I have some decals from a Land Raider kit from that time somewhere...

Whilst it's nice to see them get attention, I think that another Chapter should get a push too.

History will so, so remember our era as the Age of Space Marine Characters With One Foot On a Little Rock.

May they judge us kindly. So let it be written. So let it be done.

Rocks? Rocks you say? Master A D-B, not Rocks. The shroud of the Primaris has fallen, begun the Pointing at Things has...

I do like that Leviathan twin assault cannon, I'd be tempted to get that if he is a HQ.

Pointing at stuff has been a thing since Rogue Trader. I'm whole heartedly in favor of pointing at stuff.

Standing on rocks is relatively more recent, and is, in my opinion, terrible. Not all basing schemes involve rocks or ruins. People who've built their armies on tech bases, or marble tile bases, or cracked featureless desert bases get stuck trying to figure out what to do with this rock attached to the bottom of the model's foot. (By "people" I mean "me.") I think it's terrible and I hate it.

Pointing models never wrecked havoc with anyone's basing scheme.

I am quite new to 40K but is anyone else not that impressed with Culln The Risen's datasheet?

Feels like there is not a huge benefit in having a FNP buff if there is a 1 in 3 chance you are going to take troops with you when you go down and his firepower isn't hugely impressive (like a very accurate razorback). Plus he doesn't give any command buffs despite being an HQ (like Captains and Chaplains do).

I was thinking he could just charge in and wreck stuff but he only has 4 attacks.

He doesn't seem shabby but for 360 points, I'm thinking of adding him as a luxury.

Also he doesn't have and they shall know no fear but surely that is an error.
