Well profits from the 6-monthly statement a year ago were ~13 Million. Almost tripled in a year which is pretty impressive.

Also for the currency speculators amongst us - the Brexit vote and dip in Sterling had already happened last year and was referred to in their report.

I am not entirely certain if the figure for sales is a constant currency figure or not. If it is then sales growth over the past 3 equivalent periods is

55.3

62.7

109

That was pretty decent last year and really strong this year - which would explain the jump in profits.

What was wrong with my post? I said am happy for GW doing good, and that I hope this is linked to better sales and not money fluctuation. And that ones one view on the community could be warped by what is happening localy, and that it is good to check foreign forums to avoid that. And that my community is made out of old players coming back, and one new dude. That is practicly the same everyone else is writing here.

It was collateral damage since you quoted a removed post, your post is now reinstated and the mentioned content removed.

Have you considered requesting a plastic Marbo through the Warhammer 40,000 Community Survey?

This is great news, and I hope GW continues the current direction of how things are proceeding, thus far.

So let me get this straight...people have been asking for years for an opportunity to talk to GW about what they want...and when its given to them they declare it useless?

What confounds me is the fact that you (fans in general) think that a corporation cares about what you want.
Yeah good they made a survey. They just wanted to know their target audience and how much you spend and where.

Seems like a blanket statement. I too hated GW, but they’ve made honest, genuine attempts to reach out to the community for 8th edition and I think they realize it’s paying dividends.

Why not give them a little faith?

Yes they reached, but the questions of are you employed, how much do you spend ,at GW or local store and frequency won't tell them what I want.

Im already giving them a little faith. They need to earn more.

I dont know man, seems a bit unfair. All I really want now is a Twitter to Warhammer community, that is reactive so I can spam them questions and such and get a real dialogue going with GW.

Well if they see enough people with collective wealth are of the same mindset and are asking for the same thing, they would reasonably change their strategy to accommodate them?

Back to the whole “lapsed gamers” idea that the new head is capitalizing on.

They accommodated a question or 2. Write as much you want.

The ones that mattered where the ones multiple choice ones. The rest is chaff.

Whatever. All that matters in the end is that GW is doing a lot better than they used to.

Disclaimer:

If my posts appear rude to you, I apologize. It's not meant to be rude in any way, it's just the way folks are in my country. It's really more about being direct than being rude. I know how it's perceived in the english speaking community and I already try to tone it down but I barely notice when it's too much since it's normal for me.

So yeah, I'm really not rude it's basically just cultural differences that act against me here. Again, I apologize.

Also potentially best current Miniature game as well. Or Maybe I should rephrase that as most globally played? Which may sound subjective. But, Warmachine isn't doing so hot as it were 5 years ago. Warmachine was quite dominating the field until about X-Wing and the releasing of 8th came. GW is heading in the right direction. This is as close to Late 90s early 2000s as we are going to get. White Dwarf is back. Specialist Games are making there triumphant return, and there releasing a new Marbo with rules...can't get much better than that.

No company is perfect. Its hard to rationalize a statement that GW has not improved however.

From the way they approach the community, to focus on the game itself, to offering additional games, I mean I'm as critical as anyone else of a number of things they have done, but they HAVE improved, and yes they have done so for selfish reasons, but....thats just how Corps. work. :]

Exactly this is why to complain at all about the way the company is now is just crazy, they are seriously trying...like really really hard. And it is working.

As someone who works in marketing, I'll just add that most companies aren't out to screw you. And in fact, if they're smart, they actually do care about what you want, as they know if they can deliver what you want effectively and efficiently, you're not only likely to pay more for it, but be happy and loyally do so.

Considering GW used to be very market research averse and much more price-based (a pretty dumb way to run a company), this recent turn is a smart way to write the ship.

I think they hopefully learned the best way to get and keep customers is to actually attempt to understand them. The community outreach seems to be a reflection of that, and the stock numbers are their just reward.

Yeah, I've never understood that mindset. No company survives by making whatever they want and telling the peasants that this is what they like. If you want to be cynical, they very much care about what you want, but only so they know the best way to get you to part with your money on their product.

GW want to make lots of money, that's totally accurate.
They don't want to screw anyone over or upset customers intentionally as that means less repeat business and more bad press which is counter productive to making lots of money!

As somebody who writes these types of surveys as part of my job I will say it's a good first attempt but was obviously written by somebody unused to conducting data analysis and it was a bit "bare bones" in terms of the information it will generate.

However it was a good first attempt and if they run the same survey every year and conduct comparative analysis I think you'd be surprised just how much information the survey will glean.

It's also very encouraging they put the survey out there at all as this is definitely a paradigm shift for the company as a whole.

Going back to a previous poster's comment about them asking how much you earn and how much you spend - this is actually a very important piece of info for them but they will need to collect this data longitudinally.

They will be able to get a sense of the average income of their customer base and what percentage of their wages are spent on their product. They will then be able to compare that against other luxury items and get a sense of where their pricing strategy lies.

If the percentage spend is low compared to other comparable products it may affect their pricing or offers.
