Adding to the Crusade

Hello Brothers.  I am looking to make my first FW purchase, and I am currently stuck between the Fire Raptor and Sicarian Venator.  I was wondering if anyone had any experience using either of these, and if they could give me some insight on how they performed.  I am planning on making either of these the "center piece" to build my army lists around, with a plan of 1500 points.  Thanks in advance!

Sicarans of all kinds are awesome, the venator got cheaper which makes it a very competitive anti tank choice for any marine army.

 

The fire raptor is honestly more anti infantry, so I'd decide based on what you need more.

I've never put either one together, but I hear through the grapevine that the Fire Raptor is an absolute bitch of a resin kit to put together. Wings warping and such. YMMV

raptor isnt much fun to build. storm eagle is meant to be worse, but mine was a dream to build.

I don't want to start new topic with just one question So i founding that it would be Right place to do it.

 

So after chapter approved changes to razorback with TLAC,

Are They still worth taking? Or tlhb or tllc are better options now?

 

I want to buy some kromlech 3d larry bits And i don't know Which one i should choose.

My *very useful* advice is this: get whichever you think looks cooler. At this point in the hobby, I wouldn't base my purchase on any current rules since rules change all the time (and with GW's current policy more often than ever) - take drop pods, as an extreme example.

 

Now, for a more useful remark: I wouldn't bother with Assault Cannons at the moment. From the two remaining options, get whatever weapon type your army needs more: Heavy Bolters for anti-infatry and Lascannons for anti-armour roles.

 

I'm sticking to HBs and LCs for my Razorbacks. If I happen to need ACs, I can always borrow one from a LRC.

 

From Kromlech's line-up, I think the HB looks best.

Or you can get the twin plasma/LC turret for razorbacks!

That's an even better-looking option, but I'd advice against it. Firstly, overcharging plasma is very tempting and, well, very deadly on a Razorback. Secondly, you need to refer to the Index which I don't trust :P

I think I flipped back and fourth between the index and the codex so much I memorized the index only things

What would be pretty cool would be an autocannon turret for the razorbacks.  Now that would be interesting.

Heh, I didn't noticed that I can take lascannon and twin plasma gun.... . Heh, still learning:)

 

But. As I can see 8th ed. the weight of dice is crucial in dmg potential. So i like more 12 s6-1ap shots, than 6 s5 -1ap, form heavy bolter. And beside that I'm wounding bikes and DG marines on 3 not on fours.

 

Btw what is the price after CA of TLAC? 44? So I can have 2 TLHB cheaper than one TLAC..... ohhhhhh. decisions decisions...:)

 

Brother Cristopher: As i love LRC, probably I'll swap for Stormraven for a while, due to fly keyword and the fact that i can carry dreadnought.
