An army that is simple - workable with GK?

I need some help.

Long story is short, I've played many armies, owned and sold far more than I ever should, and have extremely limited time.

My group is playing 8th, while I have essentially lost the last YEAR of my life in a pit of work and despair (mostly work...) but want to get back into playing.

My wants.

Small Model Count

Not Knights

Few Configuration differences between units (Spam, so I have less rules to worry about and less decisions to make)

2000 Points.

Back in my Golden Age (5th Edition) I had several such armies, and GK was one I never jumped too, as I had the armies that they were a good foil, and a super spammy Dark Eldar army, but would they work for 8th?

Essentially, is a pure Terminator list at 2k playable (not top tier competitive, I dont care about that these days) and what would such a list look like?

Is there a best in slot special weapon that is a catch all if running terminators?

Lots of questions, but I appreciate your time if you respond!

Run pure Paladin over terminators.

Ignore our special guns.

Stick falchions on every ws3+ mini. Hammers on every ws 2+.

Use Voldus, Draigo or GMNDK for hq.

Done!

You can just run pure Paladins, you dont need troops anymore?

As a Vanguard Detachment I see this would work.

GK definetly fit to your idea of army. But termy armour only is absolutely useless. Using pally could be a solution, but according to the rules and the new OS inserted by the CA you need troops to control objectives. And our few body count doesn't help. So probably you should take some pagk, that are easy to paint and very good as troop.

Best way to go is Battalion + Vanguard

Two Grandmaster DK's and 15x Strikes is all you need for Battalion, and that's +3CP

Then chuck your Paladins with a Brother-Captain in your Vanguard, another +1CP.

Avoid Terminators, they're irredeemable garbage. Even for casual games you'll find them depressingly bad.

An example 2k list I run most games (obviously substitute the Dreads for Paladins in your case)

Battalion:

- Grandmaster DK w/greatsword+dreadfist, gatling psilencer, heavy psycannon, Sanctuary, Warlord (First Into The Fray)

- Grandmaster DK w/greatsword+dreadfist, gatling psilencer, heavy psycannon, Gate of Infinity

- (3) Justicar w/falchions, 4x Strikes w/falchions, Hammerhand

- (2) Justicar w/falchions, 4x Purgators w/psilencer, Astral Aim

Vanguard:

- Brother-Captain w/storm bolter+Destroyer of Crys'yllx, Gate of Infinity

- Doomglaive Dreadnought, Gate of Infinity

- (3) Venerable Dreadnought w/twin lascannon+missile launcher, Astral Aim

Been working fairly well for me. A note with Paladins, always give the Paragon a hammer, the rest falchions.

Another way to go is to take multiple Apothecaries with hammers. They're quite good value, you just have to plan your 'on table' drops so you can chuck them all in Teleport Strike.

I played a game with 3 (or was it 4) squads of paladins,  2 Apothecaries, 2 Storm Ravens, a Librarian, and a Knight. I played it against Tau and it did extremely well. Low model count, easy to know whats going on, strong and durable. Never underestimate the power of teleporting a Land Raider into someones face with Gate of Infinity. Looking back I wish I would have taken ONE Stormraven and replaced the other with a Crusader.

Having said that (not looked at it since Chapter Approved) 2 GMNDKs and Strike Spam is generally the way to go. With the return of TL Autocannon Dreads it makes me feel more comfortable about playing competitive. But that does't fall inline with your Terminators idea.

Although, and hear me out, you could take 2 GMNDKs with 3 Paladins Squads and 2 Apoths. Then fill it in with a Supreme Commander Detachment with 3 more GMNDKs. Dick move? Yes. Terrible? Potentially. Fun? Loads. I say this as I had a doubles tournament with 4 Dreadknights and an Inquisitor and it was a blast. I mean, TECHNICALLY they are Terminators but.

Before I completely give up on GK, I've been running a supreme command detachment of 3 GMNDK with a vanguard detachment of Voldus, 2 4 man paladin units, apothecary and a storm raven.

Also tried it with only 2 GMNDK, no voldus and double storm raven in a single vanguard detachment.

It's face smashy but sucks in the objective game.

The elite nature of the army doesn't fit with 8th ed. It seems like GMNDK, strike squads, razorbacks and apothecaries are the way to go if you're spamming

8th is all about redundancy, board control and firepower (as in quantity over quality).

It's why Guard have stayed top dog, despite FAQ changes. They can cover their side of the table really well to blunt your alpha, plant expendable grunts in the way of their tanks (to make Teleport Strike and any charges you try for worthless), and they just pile on the dakka.

I'm strongly considering allies the more I play. I still do well with my list, but we do have a severe on-table presence issue. I haven't really seen Paladin-heavy lists do all that well, despite the hype early on. If we could Teleport Strike everything, would be a different story.
