Akkaris 707th "Desert Vipers"

I started AM a couple of months ago. I didn't want to use the Cadian models too though, then I saw the genestealer hybrids and thought they would work, I combined those with some admech heads and this is what I came up with. The paint job isn't going to win me any golden demons but it is quick and looks good on the tabletop. I went with a desert paint scheme so my opponents would be able to have an idea they were fighting Tallarns. Here is the first squad. The plasma guns aren finished yet as I had to come up with a paint job I liked. Edited December 10, 2017 by sunspear

Thanks Bjorn- not sure why the pic looks so grainy. I have never had as much trouble getting a pic posted as I have here. I think it's just because I'm using my phone:) I will post some more pics later

How do you plan to include heavy & special weapons?

Ooh nice! Im actually thinking of doing some heavy kitbash with GSC stuff as well. Mix in AdMech heads or Scion parts. Im also looking into the new Goliath guys and, when released, the Orlocks

Great bit of kit bashing, I think the paint job is good also :tu: As mentioned HWTs might be a bit of effort, but as a Tallarn style army you'll probably want to be more mobile anyway :) Looking forward to seeing more!

That's a great plan! Then you can have modern 8-man squads with an accompanying weapons platform!!

Inso- that's a good idea. I have been thinking about using bullgryns but I'm not sure about the conversion.

Grainy might mean you need a bit more lighting on the models. Or prop up your phone against something to increase exposure time without too much blur. ;)

Major- yes it's a play on Arrakis, as I was building and painting these shouts of "long live the fighters!" Kept going through my head:)

Sunspear, great kitbash on your infantry and your Chimera looks incredible. Your sponged on chipped paint effect really liiks nice.

 

I suspect you will enjoy using the Tallarn doctrines and stratagems,I certainly do.
