Poxwalker models

There have been no rumours to suggest that we are going to get more Poxwalkers, and I really doubt we're going to get any new sculpts. We have 16 unique figures (Dark Imperium + ETB), which is more than adequate.

Aye but how many people buy multiple boxes of DI? DI only comes with 20, and people are talking taking 60+ models so either 3 boxes of DI or 1 DI box and 7 boxes of ETB, which seems excessive.

That kind of thing is nothing new. Look at what they did re:cultists with Dark Vengeance and the smaller box set - it's exactly what they'll do with Poxwalkers, in all likelihood. I do not see another box of Poxwalkers; I don't even see a repackage of the Dark Imperium Poxwalkers coming anytime soon.

edit: for the record, I'd love more Poxwalkers. But there's nothing to indicate that it will happen, so don't get your hopes up.

To be fair, it seems that a lot of love already was present when designing the existing 16 new models. Plus we are talking about a troop unit so, as much as I love these models, I don't expect any more poxwalker miniarures any time soon.

I was mostly wanting the DI poxwalkers to be separated into it's own box.

The 'know no fear' box also has the 10 walker sprue from DI, but also other death guard and primaris. The main problem with the DI sprue is that it has half a plague marine on it which makes it unlikely we'll see it as a stand-alone sprue any time soon given GW history. I think box splitters on ebay is your best bet for the near future alas.

brettfp, I imagine poxwalker conversions must be tons of fun and using the zombies sound like a perfect match. I was thinking maybe mixing poxwalkers and cultists together to get Nurgle cultists but that probably requires more patience.

Arkhanist, I had completely forgotten about the half plague marine in the sprue, crap, that is such a shame.

With the CAD sculpting GW are now using heavily it is not too difficult for them to make a new sprue without the plague marine or even adjust poses quite quickly in software, check all the reverse mirror poses that exist with plague Marines and primaries. I doubt we will see any new pox walkers but 12 months ago I doubted ever having so much choice in plastic for Death Guard so never say never.

I think the pox walkers will get a release eventually but GW need to get the power problem at Lenton sorted first so they can up production. I've been told they have four new injection moulding machines awaiting power and currently are running production at 110% of their supposed maximum just to try and keep stock on shelves. GW is on the up but struggling to meet demand currently which is no doubt causing delays in release schedules.

brettfp, they look great! Following that topic right away!

DuskRaider, just checked their webpage, I like what I see! I wish my favorite store would work with this company because I would be buying several of those bits, as of right now the shipping costs are a downside.

PJ1933, I read about GW's power problems around the forum before, I hope that is the only thing keeping them back but I still woukdn't except a re-release of the DI poxwalker sprue in a while. DI is still hot after all!

Cultists spliced with poxwalker bits and a bit of greenstuff work rather nicely. You can add glass microbeads to add boils, and textured paint (such as astrogranite) to roughen up the skin where you've got awkward spots. I've also mixed in a mantic zombie head or two. Anvil industry zombie bits weren't available when I did this batch, but I think they'd work really well mixed in.

I'm planning on doing something similar with genecult neophyte hybrids when I eventually get round to finishing this batch.
