Think I will try a few games with them. They look like fun. Could be very good. So 5 costs the same as 6 black knights . So they do 10d3 shots instead of 12 . That's crazy

6 black knights are 300 but 5 inceptors are only 300 with assault bolters. With plasmas they are 430. Also black knights gona be cheaper so you could almost field 9 black knights from that 430 points. And thats fix 18 shots with plasma talons. Also they can fight with melee weapons not bumping into the enemy with their armor :biggrin.:

inceptors now are much cheaper after Chapter Approved. 25 for body, 10 for assault bolter, 17 for plasma exterminator. So for 6 inceptors with assault bolters are 270, and with plasma are 354. That will be 36 S5 AP-1 bolters or 24 plasma on average. Then they can deep strike and have fly keyword. I am afraid bike just be outclassed by them for most of time...:wallbash:

Yeah but speed of the raven makes knights better overall.

Yeah but if you go second, you may not have chance to use speed of raven for black knights... shame we lost scout and outflank in 8ed

Sry the chapter aproved didnt sink in yet. Well then they are really a good choice. Too bad they are crap at close combat.

CC is a bit moot the BK's look good on paper but there now 2 attacks per model down from 4 the command squad is now gone and unless your tying up vehicles they'll do more damage in overwatch.

CC these days needs a character or a specialist combat unit, Deathwing Knights look good but they need an extra attack still at least there S8 there's something in the new dex about DS within 9" if within 6" of a bike dunno if that's correct or a stratagem we shall see saturday

I really doubt that the dakshroud will get much use out of the 4++ outside of a pure ravenwing list. To do so, he has to move too fast for the units he's supposed to be protecting.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding was that to advance (and get the jink bonus) you just declare you're advancing and roll the die, but there's no requirement that you actually move that far.

You could move 1" and do donuts in the corner for the rest of your movement and advance

This is my understanding. It can just shuffle around on the spot. The down side is the neg1 to hit

The advance and charge strat allows you to shoot normally so Sam in his speeder of doom can hop over stuff and get close enough to target characters.

Or an even more flat out maneuver 2D6 the jetbike and use him to waste stuff

The relic blade looks tailored for the Talon Master and why wouldn't you use a CP to take another

Eye of the unseen looks cool

I've just had a thought if you overcharge on overwatch and die will you get a 2+ final shooting attack?

could do with a medic nearby me thinks

Oh, that's just nasty.  RAW, if you overheat and fry yourself, your death throes shot almost auto-hits?  Of course, you have to hit a 4+ to get that 2+ shot, so it's not exactly game-breaking, but really awesome if true, and guaranteed to raise an opponent's blood pressure.

Just seeing the proposed changes and they look eminently sensible and shouldn't affect anyone using the characters as was intended.

Running an army full of Talon masters is a dumb idea anyway it's just cheesing the system as was hiding Celestine behind celexusus assassins or running an army full of Tau commanders.

Does mean eye of the unseen gets to be more valuable onto who you put it on

DTSE: Lots of people are starting to look at inceptors since the price drop in chapter approved . I really like the look of the plasma ones though both are good. Still expensive and fragile unit though they can get into cover unlike bikes. The ability to deep strike them puts them way ahead of black Knights who will get killed turn one by most armies . Also 5 plasma ones are the same

Price as 6 black knights : so 12 shots vs 10d3 shots.

The boards at the recent GT in Nottingham were full of terrain inaccessible to bikers, the wind is blowing towards more big blocking terrain so that the super heavies have to work for their corn not just sit there, a deliberate tactic by GW to force players to maneuver and kill the gun line just having a straight line of sight.

The inceptors are 135 for 3 with what is 2 heavy bolters but short range and assault 3 when you get to the plasma versions with the new  strat then there insane your only issue is ensuring you can drop them in 18" and getting a support guy into position for re-roll 1's.

I have the Plasma Inceptors in my Raptors list deep striking with a plasma pistol/chainsword combo jump pack captain. DESTROYED a Demon prince on drop in my last game but then drew A LOT of fire in my opponents turn. Expect them to kill what you want when they turn up and then pray they survive til your next turn.

Yea but in that way no different from scions. Drop in. Kill something. Then die. I feel they are still slightly too expensive but worth trying.

On another note. Notice intercessors are only 5 points more than tacs now. 1 more point and I feel they are a good swap in

so the other thing which looks fun are the librarians on bikes.  They are quick enough to get in range of just about anything as they turbo boost 20. The powers seem to combo well with all the -1 or -2 to hit in the army already.  Using mind wipe or aversion are going to be great as the already stack with our pre existing bonuses.   These are going to be great at taking big tanks/ ad mech robots etc out of the game.  They also have quite a good range 18 inch mid wipe and 24 inch aversion.

Righteous repugnance also looks like a great power to use if your planning a first charge with a big unit of black knights.
