Tau Empire - Lore questions

Hello there,

I'm currently revising a project of mine and intending to update it to the Dark Imperium setting.

For this, I'm creating a splinter fleet of the 4th Great Expansion Sphere, wich is led by a Thrawn-ish character. Now, my questions:

- Do Fire Caste Shas'O command their fleets as well? Or is this chain of command rather strict? If so, I'm thinking of a Air Caste Thrawn character, being overall in charge and (now to my second question)

- a human Gue'Vesa Shas'O, who recently joined the ranks of Shas'O. I read Guy Haley's short story within the Damocles novel. There, we got a human Shas'O commander inside a battlesuit. So is this a real thing or just some one-time shenanigen? A human Shas'O in charge of the ground forces could be interesting.

- Are all Ethereals as wise and capable than Aun'Shi or Aun'Va? As the last part of command, I'm thinking of a relatively young Ethereal, being the last one of the fleet. Now he is in charge of everything, way earlier than he'd have imagined. Without other Ethereals to speak to or to find a consensus, this may be interesting as well.

Thanks in advance! :)

Regards,

Kelborn

Be careful with Haleyy stuff. He writes some extremely weird T'au fluff and is really not recommended by me. However yes since he wrote it, it's canon so it's a real thing. It's not common tho, usually Gue'Vesa don't get that high in rank and also don't get to pilot battlesuits.

Especially when they are outnumbered and there's no real alternative legt.

Haley wrote more Tau stuff? I was only aware of The mentioned short story.

What kind of weird stuff die he wrote?
