Occasionally, though, we’ll want to test a small number of new rules before we enshrine them in an official book or update, and we might use some of the world’s biggest tournaments and events as testing grounds for these potential changes. But don’t worry – if we do trial some rules at an event, we’ll also make sure they’re available for everyone, so even if you’re not attending the event in question, you can still try them out and send us your thoughts.
To make this is super-easy, we’ve created an email inbox just for Warhammer 40,000 rules related feedback.
All feedback will be read and factored into the twice-yearly FAQ updates.
The purpose of this forum is to facilitate community knowledge and discussion of the beta rules that GW has let loose on the public.
All of the normal B&C rules apply (see the "Obey" link in my signature).
We will have a single discussion for each beta rule that is in testing. Off topic replies will be removed without explanation (they're off topic, 'nuf said). Similarly, extra discussions will be removed (or, if relevant to larger hobby discussion, moved to an appropriate forum).
The intent is to expose a broader audience to aspects of a beta rule in playtest, allowing hobbyists across the globe to better understand the implications, subjective balance, and potential challenges with a beta rule. Discussion here might also help players to develop the feedback that they provide to GW via the e-mail address listed above.
Keep in mind that the only discussion allowed here will be relative to the beta rules that GW has published for playtest and feedback. These rules are not official, but GW is soliciting feedback. Discussion of official rules should take place in the Official Rules forum, whereas ideas for other new rules should be developed and discussed in the Homegrown Rules forum.
Discussions will be closed once GW has finished taking feedback (and since they might not tell us explicitly, that might be when the semi-annual FAQ is published with the final version of the rule).
Since this is a new method for GW, we expect that it might evolve. As GW changes its beta rules methodology, we'll adjust the rules and methodology of this forum.
