Imperial Fists Expansion V: feedback thread

First off, congratulations to all who participated and managed to complete their vows! A special shout out to ninn who completed a vow worth 1280 points!

 

Now, I know the challenge isn't over just yet but I figured I'd ask you all what you think could be improved for the next time someone organises the IFE. This challenge has seen a number of changes since its 1st edition and so I'm always open to receiving feedback on what has (not) been done and which could have helped you complete your vows!

I realise that I haven't been very active around here lately and that probably didn't help much so I'll do what I can to be around more and to offer more support and encouragement!

 

Anyway, the floor is yours, brothers and sisters! Let me know what you thought of IFE V and let us make sure the next edition will be better organised and led! :tu:

This is my first IFE and I don't have much to offer here, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to be here for the next one.

I had no idea that I did ~ 25% of the completed vows ...  or the biggest vow. 

 

 

Actually, I thought today would be the last day, efficiently loosing 2 days (because i took the photos on saturday).

what brings me to to I want  to say about the Expansion:

I really had trouble finding all the info. Startdate, Enddate, time, rules, bases, painting-requirements, ... ... I really had to read the fist post several times, and still did not get it, so I had to read it again the next time. I read it about every other day, looking for something new. Just to find out it was not specified or so...

 

Maybe it would be an idea to make the most important rules super-easy to find, on top of the post? Like a tl;dr: Due to Enddate, "Just one vow at a time", "Needs start and end photo" ... and then the whole text.

 

I am not exactly sure what most of the text is for. It was too complicated for a "paint as much as you can" Competition. No offense! 

 

Yesterday, I had a look at the Xenos & Chaos-Files ... (so I know how to kill them more efficiently), and iirc they got no rules at all ... or points ... or I haven't seen it. Lucky, filthy bastards.

 

 

It was a great thing, and my Fists just got a lot more flexible :-)

This event I think is great! To be honest I vowed a few models I thought I would be running in a local tournament. Ended up bringing a different list so I didn't complete my vow, but I painted way more models than I normally would have. :)

I'll back up ninn and say the first post was a bit cluttered, not that a mind a good fluffy intro, but it was a bit all over the place. Also more regular updates would be nice but then again, you got your life to look after, too. Maybe get someone else to support in case of number VI ? :P

Other than that, i love competitions regarding points. Xenos files didn't have any and i think it takes a bit of the fun to look up which faction leads and stuff. Still i get most of my "shelved" painting projects out once someone slaps that gauntlet down, so keep 'em coming ;)

Thanks for all the feedback, folks! I'll take a good look at the first post and find ways to remove the clutter and make it the rules clear and concise. :tu:

optional challenges?  

 

eg. awards for including some awesomeness specific to the event in your vow

 

   -heraldry on a model specified in the event

   -a themed modelling task ie. the marine from the next events banner art, include/equip a named master crafted bolter with specified properties

   -a specific unit  ie. 5x scout sqd bolters

 

could be fun :)
