Need some Color Help with my Death Guard

Light green is more like the current DG Tainted Sons. The darker green is more like The Purge Renegade Warband.

I prefer the light but both work, and the darker one is bolder and may stand out abit better.

Imagine you’ve already painted your whole army. Without thinking too hard, what tone are they?

No, not painted yet. I started work on the Blightbringer so that I can finalize the overall color scheme... I'm torn... That is why I was asking here lol

My army is primed though, that's a big step for me

I personally love the tone of the DG green and it is the one I use but the Army Painter one you have is great and as Kilofix said it will probably stand out more.

What about using both? For example, armor as DG green and Pauldrons with Army Painter?

I can't tell the final effect from base colours so can't answer on visual effect. I don't like the way the army painter green comes off in the photo but that may not be a issue.

I would test some other layers.

Death Guard Green is designed to be easy to use washes on, but in practice I find the current citadel washes create chalky looking models if you over rely on them. I used it as a highlight colour in combination with nurgling green and it was okay.

The Army painter one does stand out much more! Like Kinstryfe said, it seems to have much more depth. Since DG green is much lighter it's hard to get that depth if you are using the same colors/shades.

Thanks everyone for your input.

The more I worked at building up the colors with washes and drybrushing, the darker green won out for me. It somehow fits what I am seeing in my minds eye. The Death Guard Green base just feels too washed out, if that makes sense.

So, I think the final scheme will be Army Green, Athonian Camoshade wash, Death Guard Green drybrush, Nurgling Green light drybrush highlight.

I'll work on the Blightbringer more and post an update once I have him with the new colors, but I feel like its going to work.

Even if it doesnt, since I used Vallejo Surface Primer, it'll strip clean really easy. Repainting him wont be that hard like if I had used a rattle can.
