[DW] Blackthorn and Swordhand: OOC Thread

That's what players are for! I also applaud the narrative spirit you are showing in the idea that a draw might be something quite cool too.

I anticipate the combat should be complete by the weekend, allowing you to return to a bit of narrative before the next (and final) part of the "tutorial".

I know Nineswords is working on a story post but he is in America right now with limited internet.

AT - if you are happy for me to handle your rolls (perhaps with some guidance as to your plans) I can move things forward if it will take multiple rounds to resolve the combat, rather than pausing each time to wait for your input. I believe Greysight will spend a fate point to ignore being stunned, but some of it depends on your actions.

CM,

Nice update, I noticed something with the numbers in the attacks from A.T.....

Greysight adopts a defensive stance whilst in combat against Atratus. (Giving him two reactions, and putting Atratus at -20 to WS to hit him.)

Per Atratus's last turn, he will use 'multiple attacks' with his Chainsword (twice) and combat knife (once) due to the Swift Attack talent.

Chainsword: WS53(-20 due to two-weapon wielder, -20 due to defensive stance) = 34 (MISS)

Chainsword: WS53(-20 due to two-weapon wielder, -20 due to defensive stance) = 10 (HIT)

Combat Knife: WS53(-20 due to two-weapon wielder, -20 due to defensive stance) = 17 (MISS)

Using two weapons for combat in this case should look something like this:

Chainsword: WS53(-20 due to two-weapon wielder, -20 due to defensive stance, +10 due to ambidextrous) = 34 (MISS)

Chainsword: WS53(-20 due to two-weapon wielder, -20 due to defensive stance, +10 due to ambidextrous) = 10 (HIT)

Combat Knife: WS53(-20 due to two-weapon wielder, -20 due to defensive stance, +10 due to ambidextrous) = 17 (HIT)

I point it out, as all Astartes have ambidextrous, and it forms a core part of being able to take advantage of swift attack and lighting attack later for assault marines... not to mention it also lets us use a melee weapon and a pistol weapon in CQB.

Either way, as the GM it is your call if you want to revise or not, I'm enjoying the tension that is the climax of this event.

I was rather hoping to dive on the blue team skull in a last gasp Greysight heroic-suicide-attack thing.

Atratus has a weapon skill of 63*, up to 73 while parrying  (* i've moved the bonuses on the sheet into the stat box for easier reading) and a strength bonus of +11 (and the chainsword is Pen 4) - so by the book he's just clobbered they guy, which is a little anti-climactic :p

I'm realising that I haven't included some of the armour-related bonuses for other characters in this combat - another learning point for me!

I am reworking the combat (and Greysight's (re)actions) accordingly.

I really should find that cheat sheet I used to have CM, it made combat much more clear... if I find it, I'll make it a google doc for you to look over.

I'm using the errata stats for weapons as players had asked me to do so previously.

I have re-edited round 14: Red Team (and Atratus, particularly) victory!

Now let us return to narrative for a bit. Behind the scenes we can take stock and I will be filing away some useful tidbits for our next combat and how we can run it smoother!

I have kept my nose out due to earlier exuberance on my part and getting everyone confused.  By my account Akkad's arm should be on the floor (which would have been awesome as I would have beaten Tyber to death with it), I also should have killed Varvost outright in the close-range boltering as I forgot pen and Atratus should also have had his wings clipped in what was a bloody savage round of shooting by Cadence, but again I forgot Pen 5.  I acknowledge my error and will correct it.

And BTW please, please continue to use the Errata'd stats - otherwise this is going to be a damn short game.

I'm away for a week starting tonight but have scribbled stuff down in a notebook. I'll get a post up on the 19th at the latest.

You've been teasing us with a post for two weeks now brother - now give us that sweet narrative or I am going to blow a gasket. :teehee:

A guy can only stay interested for so long you know? :biggrin.:

Rolled a 02 for his dodge :p  What really saved him was not taking overwatch in the same round or he wouldn't have had a dodge left to use

Varvost led a charmed life with all the weapon jams/misses and then only the single hit from that point blank shot. You didn't miss anything forgetting the 5 pen, he'd have just been slightly more blown up going through the door...

Good rolls!  Can't argue with that :)

It's certainly helped me somewhat in terms of understanding the rules a bit better. I also have certain ideas to make combat a little clearer for everyone with regards to how many fate points and wounds people have, which should help somewhat.

Please when you get a chance, look over your character sheets, restore wounds and fate points to normal, and check over your stats. If you want to reallocate your original 1000xp or your specialisation skills, that's something that we can do to ensure your character plays as you wish.

I think I might take you up on the xp reassingment... picking up two weapon fighting melee might be an idea for Tyber....

If you're going to be one of our living blenders, it certainly wouldn't hurt to have!

Seeing how it worked in the test run, I think getting rid of that last -10 to WS...
