Curses, it appears that in creating the character sheet I missed a few key sections, so I have uploaded the file.

- My initial plan was to have character sheets hosted online so they could be edited, but I have a workaround I will share with players.

Nineswords - cool coincidence! I'm keen to see how this works out.

So I've converted mine into a Google Sheet, which I can edit easily enough. would that be alright?

Alright, with some timely tech-support from Nineswords, I've managed to overhaul the Google Drive and get it working. Anyone interested in participating needs to send me an email address for them to access their character sheet, and then I can get them up and running. These sheets will be edited into Post #2 of the thread so people can see one anothers' sheets, but not be able to edit them.

Silly question, just to be clear, but this for a pre-current timeline game, i.e. no Primaris space marines.

The date is 918.M41 (ref. second post) so no Primaris.

 

Edit: Used to be in the second post. Or is my bias against Primaris having an influence on my hallucinations?

Yeah, I'm planning on the game taking place in 918.M41 so no Primaris. It also means no Second or Third Armageddon War, no Rynn's World, no Second Tyrannic War and no 13th Black Crusade!

I have received emails from Nineswords, Dosjetka, Slips, A.T. and Reckoning. All of you should have had a response back with a link to your character sheets.

Totally missed the campaign timeline. I had planned on my Blackshield character being my personal in-universe representation (yes, I am a nerd), so might make that switch I mentioned after all.

I'd be in if you are happy to put up with a newbie! As far as chapter, I would like to play a tactical marine from the Raven Guard!

I've thrown up a temporary character profile (pending any changes on characteristic allocation, background restrictions, etc). Hopefully that should all be visible.

A particularly unfocussed set of results. As befits a tactical marine I suppose, i'm just glad fate points don't go below 3 as I rolled a 1 for them

 

A few things of note:

 - the marines are marked up as having unnatural strength x3 rather than toughness x2

 - some of the equipment lines are a bit short

 - the armour history only allows a single line of text

 - there are 6 advancement boxes rather than 4 for each stat

 - the advancement boxes and right hand skills boxes show errors

 - i've used comments to fill in details (such as bonuses to skills)

Put mine profile up... I used Core Book, Rights of Battle and Honour the Chapter for everything on that profile, if that is a no-go, let me know and I can revise as needed.

So, I am but confused how the character creation "walk through" is designed to work... how much should we roll up in advance or not ? Do I just mail in a rough character overview and we start from there ?
Since this is supposed to be more closely matched to the rules, I am currently looking which chapter traits svnergize well with my play style or my current class best (Int us quite handy for Apothecaries and Techmarines). Speaking of Techmarines or equipment in general, are we allowed some cosmetic leeway here...e.g...I really dislike the forgelift vanilla servoarm. Could My character have something that acts rulewise as a he basic servoarm but looks different as in a stronger, lifter type assortment of mechatendrils?

I know of some interesting gimmicks both for RP and Game mechanics wise, I'm happy to help run down combos for you if you wish.

Xin: As I explained, partly this is so that I can ensure I understand the character creation process fully, and partly this is so that I can work through potentially eight characters carefully and understand them without becoming overwhelmed. It's partly convenience for me. As of yet, I've not asked anyone to roll up anything - I'm still ensuring that the people who are interested have access to the character sheets. I'm currently in the process of getting those set up on the Google Drive and then edited into Post #2 of this thread so that we have it for easy access. Once players have got access to their sheets, I'm happy with them filling in their character's name, Chapter, specialism (if known) and Chapter deameanour. 

 

I would hope that players would take an active role in ensuring that there is a balance in specialisms and Chapters among the players. At the moment we potentially have three apothecaries! 

 

 

A.T.: Thanks for spotting the errors on the sheet. I will endeavour to correct these for future drafts - to be fair, once players have created their characters I will be able to make my own character sheets from scratch if necessary.

Well, if you want to, we could hop onto a discord channel and set up a time where a few of us can meet up together (mainly those who don't understand the char gen system fully) and we can go through the process step-by-step. That way the chat can also sorta happen in real-time.

Thanks all around. I am just trying to make sure I am not missing anything.
I'm also grateful for any advice regarding useful combos since my own gaming group is running Black Crusade on and off. I generally try not to min/max approach character creation but I am certainly open to help in developing a character that can fulfill his role rules wise.
Also, totally not set on Apothecary if we have plenty...I will focus on Techmarine then (unless we are short in some other critical area).
