Decimus Felix's loadout

I'm thinking of adding this guy to my Ultramarines. Generally, I'm fond of "official" loadouts. That is combinations of weapons used by characters in the background, even if they aren't the optimal choice. It keeps things interesting and gives me different Captain combos to try out. Anything about what his favoured weapons were in Dark Imperium (novel)?

 

Hopefully he's not just another Dark Imperium (box game) Captain clone. Already got one of those in Acheran

I've given the book a quick scan, and he's mentioned as using a Boltstorm Gauntlet and Power Sword on a number of occasions.

 

What's confusing is that he's mentioned as wearing "Aggressor power armour" but the book seems to draw a distinction between it and the Gravis class worn by Aggressors themselves.

He's literally the Gravis Captain in the Dark Imperium set :-D

I think he is the Gravis Captain from the DI boxset.

That's a shame as Acheran is also the Captain from the Dark Imperium box. Dunno what I'll do for him then. I don't think I really want two Gravis Captains even if one is converted.

Could you not add an extra aggressor (right) arm to the DI captain and have a sheathed sword? That would be suitably different but would adhere to the Canon.

Agreed with the majority: in my opinion he's pretty much exactly what came in the DI box. However I will say I painted up that limited Fist Primaris Captain and named him Felix just for variety. But of course that dude does not have the 'Dad-bod' Agressor type armour. However I'm sure Felix is flexibile enough to go with whatever armour you like.

He'd look too similar to the DI Captain for my tastes. I think the route I'll go is basing him on one of the Agressor Sergeants blinged up. I have a rought idea what I could do. Leaving the power sword lowered, around waist height and horizonal while raising the boltstorm gauntlet to be aiming would give a noticeably different pose. I have cloaks I can use and plenty of suitably large and impressive power swords. Then it's just a case of blinging him up to look like a Captain. I might also go with a bare head to differentiate him a bit more.

 

Reversing the sword and boltstom guantlet arms would be even better, but I'm not sure about the hastle that will cause with the backpack and ammo feed. Plus I'd have to scratch build a boltstom gauntlet for the right arm, but that shouldn't be too hard with a power fist and something like an angelus bolter.

I think you can apply that to any named Captain without a specific model. They'll all have armouries they can draw from so using a standard Primaris Captain (I've got the LE one too) would work if I decide not to convert up another Gravis guy.
