a few Vlka Fenryka Questions

Hey,

I have a few lore and rules questions regarding the sons of Russ, and hoped to find answers here.

Lore:

1) According to the 40k wiki, the Great Companies 6 and 10, are unknown, as in we don't know their numbers or jarls. But are they mentioned in the timeline as having taken part in certain campaigns?

2) Was the Fist of Russ used during the Heresy, or is that something developed later? (the fist of russ, as the tactic Ragnar Blackmane is known for: Full on drop pod assault).

3) What happened to the disciplinary officers after Russ came back to the legion?

Rules:

1) in the entry for Leman Russ, it is stated that he has the special rule Howl of the Deathwolf, and that he can use it once per battle. However, Howl of the Deathwolf is a warlord trait. Does this mean HotDW is Russ' warlord trait, or does he gain HotDW as an actual special rule and can roll for a warlord trait in addition.

2) Command Squads are listed under the HQ section. Does this mean one taken counts as one of the HQ choices required per 1000 points?

Thanks in advance :)

Hey,

I have a few lore and rules questions regarding the sons of Russ, and hoped to find answers here.

None that I am aware of. They are both missing from Inferno's breakdown of the VF contigent sent to Prospero. The VF are listed at nearly 2/3rds of its full strength so the 6 and 10 could have been among the missing 1/3rd.

2) Was the Fist of Russ used during the Heresy, or is that something developed later? (the fist of russ, as the tactic Ragnar Blackmane is known for: Full on drop pod assault).

I would say that it was, as the Rite of War exists to allow that. Im pretty sure every Legion performed this type of attack.

3) What happened to the disciplinary officers after Russ came back to the legion?

No specific answer is given, but I would assume they became the precursor to the Speakers of the Dead.

He cannot roll for a warlord trait, most of the primarchs dont have warlord traits but abilities that mirror them and are fixed. I think Fulgrim has some shenanigans that can draw from actual warlord traits. Russ isnt much of an army buffer, but rather a face smasher.

2) Command Squads are listed under the HQ section. Does this mean one taken counts as one of the HQ choices required per 1000 points?

This is up for debate, I've seen it argued both ways, but I personally would say no. In my eyes, the Command Squads are not actual HQ options but attachments to HQ options (as they are not purchasable on their own)

Thanks in advance :smile.:

Cheers brother!
