How can you paint banners etc to look like black leather for a Slaanesh warband?

Black paint and gloss varnish is an easy option, or very subtle highlights.
Im sure someone will be along soon with more detailed techniques. :)

Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the centre of the world, and its sound is like razors through flesh.

Hmm...looks a familiar suggestion lol.

Think you mean bold highlights though. As in near white to look shiny. Also don't worry too much about making large jumps in shades too as the more the light and dark colours (values really) jump, the more polished it'll look.

Check some photos of shiny PVC for example.

I'm super-lazy so I just spray black, drybrush Ceramite White and then wash heavily with Strong Tone/Nuln Oil.

The result is acceptable.

"I have of late - but wherefore I know not - lost all my mirth, forgone all custom of exercises; and indeed it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the earth, seems to me a sterile promontory; this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire, why, it appears no other thing to me than a foul and pestilential congregation of vapours. What a piece of work is a man! how noble in reason! how infinite in faculty! in form and moving how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of animals! And yet to me, what is this quintessence of dust? man delights not me: no, nor woman neither. Nor woman neither."
