Militarum Tempestus AT

I keep trying to make pure Militarum Tempestus army work and I keep stumbling upon the problem of taking out tough targets. While overcharged plasma forgiveth a multitude of sins, having to get six shots through to kill a single russ makes it a limited tool, better yet if I find myself facing multiple knights or a super heavy.

First, let me define "pure" MT. It's anything with the following keywords:

  • Militarum Tempestus
  • Militarum Auxila
  • Aeronautica Imperialis
  • Inquisition
  • Ordo Perfectus
  • Ministorum (but not Adeptus Sororitas)

To me, this leaves use with a few options:

  1. Plasmaguns on Scions - Works, especially on armies with only a bit on armor, but -1 to hit or armor spam quickly makes them inefficient.
  2. Meltaguns on Scions - Even more expensive than plasma, less shots, harder to get in range, but better AP and the possibility of 2d6, keep the highest, at least makes it worthy of consideration.
  3. Vendetta Gunship - Six lascannon! However, a LOT of points. Also, if you move (and its a flyer), you're hitting on 5s. Boo.
  4. Taurox Prime with Missiles - Two AT shots on a vehicle almost the costs of a russ. Worth looking into because we're shy on options but the gatling is just that much better at this.
  5. Combi-Weapons on various inquisition units - More expensive that Scion equivalents for less BS. Pass.
  6. Hellstrike Missile on various flyers - Chapter Approved made this option highly obsolete.

Did I miss anything? Does anybody have any other ideas? Am I simply facing an uphill battle with not good answer?

Most non-infantry tools MT would have access to are better at mulching infantry, so I’d say Plasma and Melta Scions on top of Maul Bullgryns. The reason I like Meltas against Tanks is that they synergize well with the Scion re-roll to wound order. Plasmas will usually overcharge, hence they need the re-roll 1s to hit order. Meltas have the choice between 1s to hit and all to wound. The latter is statistically superior, especially against T8.
