Placing his steps carefully, the stock of his boltgun locked into his shoulder, Yeng advanced, keeping half an eye on the squad's disposition – he wanted to be within a short sprint if anyone went down. To his left and ahead, the Astartes were displacing; pounding forward under covering fire from the heavy weapons. His autosenses numbed for a moment as Vorr's missile swept past him. He ignored the noise and light; trying to identify longer-term threats. Vox-calls crackled; were logged.

The mass of fanatics in front of them were already being scythed down wretchedly by the Astral Claw and Vorr; so Yeng dismissed them for the moment. The other mobs he judged too distant. His gaze darted briefly to the advancing priest – safe in the shadow of the cargo-carrier.

Past that, though, he thought. Past the cargo-carrier, beyond the rabble of cultists, was another vehicle; perhaps a hundred or so yards distant. Unlovely and blunt-faced, it was indistinguishable from the others the squad had passed in the surrounding streets –  except, that is, for the heavy weapon protruding from the back. Eyes darting to Tyber, Yeng saw the Dragon of Caliban had some ground to clear before he could engage the flatbed. Blurry silhouettes indicated at least two of the enemy were crewing it, but whether they were setting up; or already tightening their finger on the trigger was impossible to tell.

Yeng had been shot by an autocannon before. Hadn't much liked it.

Lifting his boltgun, the Gatebreaker sighted down it, using the dissipating trail of smoke from Vorr's missile to orient his aim.

"Twelve of the clock. One-hundred-five metres. Placing subduing fire on the technical with autocannon."

Half-action to move to Teralil's position.

Half action to aim with Yeng's boltgun at the crew of the Goliath.

Rather than pull his boltgun free, Guillermo drew Mariana from her scabbard. Even as the blade came free from its sheath, arcs of witchlightning spared across the surface in the breeding anticipation that thrummed in his heart like a drum. The Librarian was eager for battle, even if it were something so mundane as this... detritus. They were bred for this, made for this. With a returned nod to his blood-kin, the Codicier twisted his force blade once between his fingers in a flourishing arc to test his own grip before drawing free his hand flamer and following his brother into the enemy.

Run action, following directly after Ghent.

As the fighting began Atratus had already settled into position, taking advantage of his targetting auger on approach.

Taking aim he snapped off a shot at the cultist manning the autocannon. Poison, not explosives like his brothers, might delay realisation of what had occurred. Adjusting his aim he drew a bead on the gunners companion...

The Invader came running around the corner of the steel storage container. Bringing the boltgun up to his shoulder while coming to a stop three score metres away from a group of mutants, Ghent squeezed the trigger briefly before relaxing his finger once more. As Fulmen Mors roared its song of war, cultists flew apart in a storm of bone and gore.

Rodrik grinned ferociously under his helm as the internal HUD analysed and displayed the devastation caused. With a mind-impulse he accessed the squad-wide vox channel.

"Enemy sighted and engaged on the north side. Remember that we carry the Emperor's will as our torch. With it we shall destroy the shadows."

After checking the ammo counter, the Space Marine readied himself for another burst of bolter fire. Edited by Chaplain Dosjetka

Grunting with satisfaction at the demise of his targeted adversaries, Teralil drew a bead on the sole surviving member of the mob.

"No survivors," he whispered, and pulled the trigger.

Teralil repeats the same action, targeted at the remaining blob of horde 2 directly in front of him.

The other Techmarine spoke to him, having noted that this son of the 13th had seemed apprehensive to allow Tyber to use this armor, but to rub salt in the wound, he had suggest to himself that he lets the wisdom of the Little Emperor guide him, a child of the Lion, a descendant of one of the first to stand beside the Emperor, still he did deserve a response none the less.

+It is a little small and uncomfortable.+ his words were short, to the point and perhaps would save him from another blasted pop up from the machine spirt. His attention was cut short from the drumming of Akkad’s heavy bolter against one of the abominations that had been separated off from a horde of lesser animals by Solastion’s feat of strength. When the smoke cleared the beast was still standing.

It saw him, the beast roared in both rage and challenge to Tyber, running at him weapon held high and back, frowning to himself as everything slowed down a little Tyber  he said out loud to himself, “Just as sloppy as the one I killed before…”

Drawing the black bladed arming sword, he went into a two handed stance, ready to strike the beast.

OOC: Math and Order of Operations;

WS test: 1d100 41

Hit with 2 DoS (possible 4 DoS)

Will spend 1 Fate Point to use Killing Strike, making Tyber’s attack cannot be dodged or parried.

Arming sword RF damage: 1d10 10 RF Auto Confirm

Arming sword RF damage: 1d10 2

Total Damage: 39 Pen 3 Rending damage type

Planting his feet shoulder width apart, he lashed out from his Grox Guard position (OOC: also knows as Ox Guard for use with Long Swords). The blade bit deep and true, Tyber felt no regrets over this strike.

Atratus snapped off a second shot, leaving the autocannon unattended. Raising his eye from the scope he appraised the situation, so few of the cult had remained for this stand he wondered that they had not been picked off by the patrols, unless more lurked below.

Whatever the case it would seem unwise to waste more ammo on such meagre foes.

Seeing the swarm of simple hybrid cultists appear around either side of the truck he pushed relatively unscathed - only for bolter fire to erase the group that emerged on his left - and failing to reach him in an attempt at a foolhardily disorganized charge, Solastion met their go at him by simply lobbing a frag grenade into them.

Solastion will use a half action to toss a Frag Grenade into Horde 2

Nade Toss: 1d100 31 vs BS 49 + 10 (mag) + 10 range (or +30 point blank?) = 31 vs 69 (or 89) for 3 DoS (Or 5) for 4 Hits (from Blast 4) + 1 hit from initial attack + 1 hit for explosive damage = 6 Hits.

Frag Nade: 6#2d10+2 11, 11, 14, 13, 16, 12, Explosive Damage, Pen 0.

As the Grenade explodes barely a few feet from him, the shrapnel, at worst, scratching the paint of his power armor but eviscerating the closest cultists to him, Solastion took a quick glance behind him at the firebase the rest of his squad formed and voxed back to them +Engaging lone Aberrant.+ before a quick back burst from his jump pack brought him up and over to the other side of the truck but directly behind the Aberrant headed towards Montesa and Ghent.

As a Free Action, Solastion will frenzy up in anticipation of the coming close quarters bloodshed.

Yeng slipped his finger through the triggerguard just as a shot tore one of the gunners in two. Raising his head from the sight for a second – and raising his eyebrows in resignation – he adjusted his aim, a wry smile creasing his face.

He that hunts alone oft goes hungry, he mused to himself. As the Odes say – the fallen prey needs no second spear

Sensing the unseen shooter would even now be adjusting to shoot the second gunner, he dropped his sights to the mob threatening to swarm Solastion instead. Striding towards the Priest, he opened up with his boltgun.

He had missed this. Truly he had missed this. For those among the Librarium, it was a solemn and solitary duty. His responsibility in the Halls of Remembers or the Hallowed Sepulcher had been a far more pressing prerogative for one of his talents.. and even as he was seconded to the Death Watch, he found far too little time outside the Watch Fortress. But, for all his gifts and all his faults, Guillermo was of Astartes blood. He was forged for battle. Despite their differences, to stand alongside his blood-kin in battle was a thing of guttural warm that burned in his chest.

And yet... still it felt hollow, in its own way.

Not here... The though played slowly in his skull. His eyes scanned out across the field of slaughter, watching as though in slow motion. The cultists, contemptible vermin as they were, died as the helpless while they were torn and rent apart from the cruel designs of Ghent's Metalstorm bolt rounds. Standing behind his brother, he waited only for the burst to subside before he casually knocked the back of his free hand against his brother's silver pauldron before he stepped past his blood-kin and reared the corner.

Around that corner he saw his quarry, a being of the most vial sorts. The Tyrannic bio-kind were quite possibly the most contemptable of any xenos-breed.. but this.. to take the purity of the human form so and turn it into this Abomination. In some way.. he pitied the pathetic creature. These mind-addled brutes barely even understood their own existence, let alone the heresy they were born into. Yet it was all the more reason to murder the bastardous thing with impunity.

"Forgive me for using you to vent my rage,,,"  Guillermo said to the creature, not expecting any kind of genuine response from the mentally in-firm creature. Witchfire burned in his eyes, licks of flame flickering even from his crimson eye lenses. With a twist of his fingers, the blade spun, catching the air too in flame as the blade began to burn as though set ablaze.

We carry the Emperor's will as our torch. With it we shall destroy the shadows.

Pulling the burning force sword back in to him, Guillermo took ahold of the blade with both hands and raised it high in a downward arc in hope to sever the beast's skull entirely. And with it he poured his anger and rage into one killing blow.

Guillermo will use a half action to move towards Aberrant 1 and then use his second half action to attack the creature.

Weapon Skill roll: 39 vs 72 (52 WS +10 for Hatred, +10 for Hunter of Aliens) 3DoS

If the Aberrant does not parry or dodge...

Roll for Damage: 8 + 18 dmg (2 dmg for sword, 11 dmg for str, 3 dmg for Psy Rating, 2 dmg for Hunter of Aliens)

Attack Damage of 26 damage at AP 5

If attack is successful, Gullermo will use a free action to channel psychic force into attack.

Guillermo makes an opposed willpower check against the Aberrant.

Willpower roll: 07 vs 64 (no bonuses) 5 DoS

If the Aberrant fails to be Guillermo's Willpower test, the Aberrant will take an addition d10 damage for every DoS (5 in this case) ignoring the target's toughness and armour.

Damage rolls: 6, 3, 10, 10, 1.

GREYSIGHT WASN'T SURE what had specifically brought the Deathwatch to the archaic refinery complexes of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Confident that the fleet action could be managed under Locke's command, Greysight and Yeng had taken to the surface of Beregar, only to find recidivism had festered in the Fallows in their absence, transforming the once densely habited district into a warzone.

Marshal Thrace's plans to restore civil order had unravelled quickly, at the worst possible moment. Under pressure for weeks with an influx of refugees from the surrounding countryside and regions beyond, fear of the increasingly authoritarian Enforcers, Planetary Defence Force and their Space Marine allies turned to hatred when it was clear that the inhuman threat from within that had not been entirely expunged, pushing the slum's populace to civil unrest. Riots broke out over increasingly scarce resources, and Beregar's defensive walls near the arbites section houses had been breached several times in the misplaced violence that followed; unable to be repaired.

Incredibly, both Atratus and Tyber had sustained injuries following a highly publicised attempt to assassinate them with a melta charge, killing a local enforcer. Tyber had been forced to don the late Watch-sergeant Jor's armour.

There would be no calm before the storm. It was as if the last remnants of the Genestealer cult knew their overlords were within reach.

The refineries still smelled of the greasy promethium reserves it processed. Its central supply manifold was shut off for the first time in six hundred years, at about the same time as Tyber was injured, two days prior. The tech-priests and their Fabricator lords had protested of course, but the penstock supply pipes were prone to infiltration by the xenoforms who were able to withstand the crushing pressure of the promethium flow and the lack of oxygen. Only after an executive order signed by Acting-Govenor Vortis with the backing of the Deathwatch did the Chief Fabricator acquiesce, taking the skittari and the majority of Cult Mechanics with him to defend the inner sanctums of the Metallica district. What techno-arcana they guarded was anyone's guess, but for now, the refineries that kept Syndalla running were effectively abandoned. Like moths to a flame, a sizeable force of recidivists had encroached on the once forbidden territory, no doubt acting to steal vital promethium or sow further discord.

They were instead met with the combined strength of the Emperor's Holy Deathwatch.

Cultists died in droves as the brothers of Swordhand began their deadly work, Vârvost wasted no time getting in amongst them to conserve ammunition. Cadence sang as Akkad mowed down cultist protecting their aberrant masters, whilst Atratus picked off priority targets. The Crimson Fist, Montesa, engaged a mutant form, blazing with balefire, before a desperate swipe caught his right side, injuring the Librarian. The others, including Greysight, began to thin the horde.

Unbidden, a thought entered his mind. He paused, before broadcasting over the entire vox channel.

'Brothers,' he began, putting a round between a cultist's eye. 'Has it occurred to any of us that Interrogator Ryken has not been seen in over two weeks?'

ROUND THREE BEGINS

Ghent:
Ghent keeps Metal Storm rounds for his boltgun attacks.
Semi-Auto Burst at Cultists 1:
BS48 (+10 SAB, +10 Range, +10 Bolter Mastery, +20 Magnitude): 45 (PASS, 5DoS): 3 Hits, plus four additional (three from Blast (2) and one from Explosive Damage).
Bolter with Metal Storm round is 1D10+9X Damage (-2 Damage from Metal Storm rounds, +2 Damage from Bolter Mastery) and Pen 2 (-2 Pen from Metal Storm rounds) against TB3 and Armour 3(1).
Hit 1: 10+4 RF(19)
Hit 2: 10+7 RF (22)
Hit 3: 4 (9)
Hit 4: 9 (14)
Hit 5: 3 (8)
Hit 6: 2 (7)
Hit 7: 3 (8)
7 Magnitude Damage (down to 14)

The percussive beat of Ghent's boltgun shreds countless cultists into a inky swirl of ichor and entirely inhuman body parts. It is then that whatever pretense of humanity these creatures wear slips loose. Those rags and wrappings that shrouded their forms fall to the floor, and you recognise the many-limbed form of the purestrain genestealer amongst them. The weaklings of the cult had served simply as a guise for the true masters to survive; to close until they could strike.

Almost immediately you hear Varvost's grunts turn to howls of anger and rage as he comes face-to-face with the foe; you hear the sound of more of the creatures thudding down to deck-plating from the rafters above. This cult is in its death throes, but clearly it seeks to drag you down with it.

Greysight's words tailed off into the robust cracking of his bolter as the new threat materialised.

Daon telegraphed to the Squad when he finally decided on his actions.

//Attack Pattern Alpha.

//Bolter Assault.

Whilst the on-board systems and augurs adjusted, printing hololithic fire patterns and predictive outcomes, he chose to answer the Storm Son.  He moved into close proximity, almost shoulder-plate to shoulder-plate to shield him from his intended grenade deployment.  Leave it to the observant, distant son of the Khan to notice such matters like the flimsy Interrogator.  Akkad would have been surprised if between the two of them Atratus and Greysight's keen eyes couldn't tell him all the names on the bolter shells he'd expended.

+I for one do not miss him.  I would not be surprised if one of these vermin came down wearing his skin.  All the same, his whereabouts do...concern me.+  He selected private Vox and sent to Tyber, banishing the discomfiture the Inquisition brought, no matter the agent.

+Tell me Ahu, what does the Codex Astartes think of this situation?  Perhaps we should try throwing crates?+

With that he forgot them for a moment, rushing forward, boots pounding the mechanicum painted glyphs on the ferrocrete floor, tearing a Krak grenade free.  He cranked the lever for instant detonation and hurled it at the closest menace, disdaining even to assess his handiwork, mind already on other things as his superhuman speed and dynamic action brought him into place.

Akkad spends 3 Cohesion and activates Bolter Assault.

Free Action: Charge. Akkad makes a charge move to stand behind and above Greysight at Grid ref 4, 4.
Free Action: Standard Attack - Krak Grenade, Target, Cack-eating Scumbag 7. (Error. Codified Genus: Genestealer Septimus)
Ranged Attack test: BS 52 + 10 (Range) = 62
D100: 029. Success, 3 DoS.
Damage: 3D10 + 4 (Dam) + 2 (MS) Explosive = 18 Damage.
Location: 91 - Left Leg.

He brandished Cadence and slipped the safety free.  She growled, hungry after only tasting the Abomination.

Full Action: FAB. Akkad brings his trusted Heavy Bolter online to attempt further Xenocide against Cack-eating mud-lurker 6.
BS 52 + 20 (FA) +10 (Range) = 82
D100: 48, Success, 3 DoS = 4 Hits.
Damage: 1D10 (2D10 Tearing) + 12 (Dam) +2 (MS)
All hits resolved at Pen 5.
1st Hit - Right Leg: 23
2nd Hit - Left Leg: 24, RF Confirmed + 5 = 29
3rd Hit - Body: 20
4th Hit - Left Arm: 23
Total Hits: 4
Total Damage: 95.

Akkad hoped his brothers would respond to his call to arms to crush the enemy quickly.  He knew from the Manse how deadly they could be.

GM: All Astartes within 30m of Akkad should decide whether they are in solo mode or squad mode - at the moment, it's just Yeng who is - as those are the only ones who'll benefit from Akkad's bolter assault.

That's:

- Atratus

- Teralil

- Vorr

- Sabaan

- Greysight

Hearing the order Atratus leaps into the air towards the new threat, firing into the xenos at point blank range with his pistol as he prepares to dive onto their position.

Free action, move to get some altitude and free shot with a bolt pistol. Atratus will drop down onto them in his own action.

D100 = 47 = hit with a single degree

D10 tearing = 8 + 9 = 17 wounds, pen 4

(I don't know if Atratus can fire mid-move or if he needs to do it before or after. If he can fire mid-action then death from above adds another 9 damage)

The horde of cultists was being cut down like wheat before the scythe by the Killteam, how fitting on an agri world Vorr thought, a storm of bolt shells and explosions tore them to pieces exposing their disgusting alien features. Varvost was a whirlwind of gore in the middle of a large mob constantly in motion with his chainaxe roaring almost as loud as he was. Vorr considered firing a frag missile close to the group of cultists but decided Varvost had it handled and with the speed of the melee he could likely damage the Space Marine, it was a bit early in the mission to be so reckless especially against vermin like these cultists.

Then he saw them. Purestrain Genestealers emerging from hiding within the groups of hybrids and several more crashing down around them from the rafters he saw the info burst from Akkad.

//Attack Pattern Alpha.

//Bolter Assault.

Vorr acknowledged the action and ran forwards in formation with the Astral Claw standing beside him. Pulling a krak grenade from his webbing and hurling it towards the Genestealers Vorr sights down his Soundstrike Missile Launcher and fires a frag missile at the Xenos.

Vorr enters squad mode, charges forward next to Akkad or as close as he can get and throws a Krak Grenade at Genestealer 5

Half action aim, half action standard attack using missile launcher against Genestealer 5
