Just as the bubbling acid is eating away at the giant cruiser underneath you, and the very armour you wear, it seems your wargear is not proof against the toxic foulness...

Guillermo's breath came in measured pants, regulating himself as his ceramite boots thudded against the surface of the stricken vessel. Each step was an effort to release from the mag locks that helped to keep him firmly upon the ship's metallic skin.

++The xenos are many, brothers... Let us ensure that they know the price for their existence..++

With a low mutter, the words hissed from the Librarian's lips, snarling as he drew Mariana and wytchfire burned from the lens of his helm.

A great cloud of writhing talons and crooked wings loomed over, threatening to drown them in their sheer mass. With a roar of etheric rage, the Codicier raised his hand and spilled forth a tide of psychic flame. He poured out his rage, letting it momentarily consume him as a flash of his visage took on something horned with too many eyes and too many teeth.

It was for but a single moment, but a small part of him died in that moment.

The Liberian had unleashed his ‘gifts’, the visage that had followed it sent a chill down Tyber’s spine, yet another display of unnatural abilities that are made by one’s mind. He hated them, Liberians; every time he had dealt with them they had invaded his mind, had their way in his skull, leaving him feeling less than whole each time. But he wasn’t stupid about it, he knew they were useful, not a resource to waste, pulling a fragmentation grenade free, he tossed it towards the horde of beasts descending on the Liberian.

A sound like heavy rain engulfed the battlefield as hundreds, perhaps thousands of lethal bone spikes rained down on the Astartes position making a mockery of any attempt to seek cover. Each was individually little threat to the battle armour of a space marine but in such numbers it was inevitable that one would soon find a joint or eye socket.

The only defense was to attack, as he took to the skies once more to break a path through the encirclement.

Charge Group G
Roll to hit d100 = 35 vs WS 103 (63+10 charge, +10 hunter, +30 size) = hit and 6 extra degrees = 4 hits?
(min damage is 15 pen 3, can't fail to wound)
Wrathful descent = 8 magnitude damage

Total 12 magnitude damage?

(dodge vs spike rifles = D100 = 67 - pass, just barely)

Yeng:

As before, your available actions are here: https://imgur.com/8zJxQeO

The Alpha Shrike is thrashing in its death throes. By ending its life, you will free up the Assault Marines to attack other threats.

You can:

Do a Standard Attack with your Chainsword:

Half Action: Aim

Half Action: Standard Attack

WS45(+10 Hunter of Aliens)(+10 Ganging Up)(+20 Size)(+10 Aim) = WS95

Chainsword Damage of 1D10+13 (roll your D10 twice and choose the highest)

Do a Guarded Attack with your Chainsword:

WS45(+10 Hunter of Aliens)(+10 Ganging Up)(+20 Size)(-10, Guarded Attack) = WS75

Chainsword Damage of 1D10+13 (roll your D10 twice and choose the highest)

You will be at +10WS to Parry the Shrike if it survives to attack you

Do an All Out Attack with your Chainsword:

WS45(+10 Hunter of Aliens)(+10 Ganging Up)(+20 Size)(+20, All Out Attack): WS105

Spend a Fate Point to activate Killing Strike, meaning that the Shrike cannot dodge or parry;

Chainsword Damage of 1D10+13 (roll your D10 twice and choose the highest)

You cannot Dodge or Parry for the rest of the turn (for example, if any of the Hordes shoot at you.)

Standing over the struggling beast, Yeng slammed a foot into its shattered thorax, preventing it wriggling away. It raised a defiant talon, but Yeng grabbed it with his right hand, halting it dead with a grunt of effort. Hefting Begtse with his free hand, the Gatebreaker deftly flicked the chainsword into the air, before grabbing it again.

Boltgun fire strobed across the pair, turning them into a tableau – posthuman astride galactic horror, sword held reversed, blade down. Without rancour, he spoke in a cold, judgemental tone:

'Six-Winged Apta calls your name, creature.'

All Out Attack with Begtse (Chainsword):
WS45(+10 Hunter of Aliens)(+10 Ganging Up)(+20 Size)(+20, All Out Attack): WS105
Spend a Fate Point to activate Killing Strike, meaning that the Shrike cannot dodge or parry;

Result is: 94(!)

Chainsword Damage of 1D10+13 (roll your D10 twice and choose the highest)

Results are 4(+13) and 9(+13) – resulting in 22 damage.

He paused, reflectively – just for a fraction of a second. Inclining his head, he completed the sword's thrust.

"I, however, don't care what you're called."

Rammed into the Shrike's bulbous cranium with the full force of the Astartes' steel-cased arm, the caseless chainsword churned through chitin and flesh with a scream of victory, briefly pinning the creature to the floor. Stepping back from the coup de grace, Yeng withdrew the blade. Shaking it with a practised flick to release the ichor, he stepped over to Solastion, protectively. Now to remove the bindings.

As the Shrike falls beneath Yeng's churning chainsword blade, Varvost inclines his helm appreciatively towards the Apothecary.

++Hnf. Good work.++

The leader-beasts have all been felled - but the Kill-Team is at risk of being engulfed by the swarm. The air is filled with swarming Gargoyles, dive-bombing and flailing at those of the Kill-Team already in combat. The Hormagaunts are coursing at your heels; the spines of spike rifle-fire patter down from above like rain, and you can see the loping gait of Genestealers ahead.

Solastion, seeing Montesa spring into action to engage an approaching horde, Solastion takes after him, his chainsword roaring and his jump pack flaring.

Solastion will charge Horde E. Weapon Skill 56 + 20 (berserk charge) + 10 (frenzy) + 30? (size) = 116.

WS 116 vs 56 = 5 DoS -> 1 hit + 1 per 2 DoS = 3 total hits

Damage: 1d10 (tearing) + 3 + 13 (SB) + 1 (frenzy) = 1 or 3 -> 3 + 17 = 20 rending damage, pen 3

Damage 2: 7 or 8 -> 25 rending damage pen 3

Damage 3: 7 or 8 -> 25 rending damage pen 3

Otherwise, 3 Magnitude damage.

GM: Noctus:

Key Notes:

Hatred gives a +10 (Core, P.119)

Hunter of Aliens gives a +10 (Core, P.120)

FFG changed how Righteous Fury works in the Errata.

If you roll a 10 for Damage (or a 5 on a 1D5), rather than rolling a new attack, you just roll another D10 (or D5) for damage, until you no longer roll 10s (or 5s).

Against these Gargoyles, you can't not kill, so there's no point rolling for it.

Question: Where did Montesa get the Furious Assault talent from? I can't see it on the character sheet's purchase history.

Montesa:

(Montesa enters Squad Mode retrospectively)

Full Action: All Out Attack on Gargoyle Horde F using Force Sword

WS57(+10 Hatred (Tyranids))(+10 Hunter of Aliens)(+20 Size)(+20 All Out Attack) = WS117: 14 (HIT, 10 DoS)

1 Hit (+5 Additional Hits)

Damage: 1D10+2 (+11SB)(+4 Psy Rating)(+2 Hunter of Aliens) = 1D10+19 R, Pen 6

Against TB3 and Armour 3(0) - Montesa automatically kills

Montesa does 6 Magnitude Damage

Free Action / Reaction: Furious Assault

(If the character successfully hits his target using the All Out Attack Action, he may spend his Reaction to make an additional attack using the same bonuses or penalties as the original attack.)

WS117: 25 (HIT, 9 DoS)

1 Hit (+4 Additional Hits) at 1D10+19 Pen 6 against TB3, Armour 3(0)

Montesa does 5 Magnitude Damage

Montesa does 11 Magnitude Damage (now 13 Magnitude)

Solastion:

GM: In your post you say Solastion is charging Horde E (the Termagants) but your post describes charging the Horde Montesa is in combat with - Horde F. So I've gone with him charging Horde F.

Full Action: Charge Horde F

WS56 (+20 Berserk Charge) (+10 Frenzy) (+10 Size) = WS96: 56 (4 DoS)

1 Hit (+2 Additional) = 3 Hits Total

1D10+3 (+SB13)(+1 Frenzy): 1D10+17

3 Magnitude Damage (now 10 Magnitude)

1 Hit + 3 Additional Hits

Chain-axe does 1D10+5(+8 Strength Bonus)(+1 Frenzy)(+1 Wings of Wrath)(+2 Hunter of Aliens): 1D10+17 against TB3 and Armour 3(0)

Varvost does 4 Magnitude Damage (Doubled by Whirlwind of Death to 8)

Hormagaunts D are reduced to 52 Magnitude

Vorr:

Hit 3: 19

Hit 4: 13

Hit 5: 4 (NO KILL)

Hit 6: 10

5 Magnitude Damage to the Horde

Devastating also reduces Magnitude by 1

Unrelenting Devastation reduces Magnitude by +1D5: 4

10 Magnitude Damage total: Hormagaunts are reduced to 42 Magnitude

Varvost has TB8(9, Frenzy) and Armour 8(5), reducing the damage by 14 to 17

Varvost is at 7 Wounds Remaining

Attack 2:

WS45: 10 (HIT)

Varvost has TB8(9 Frenzy) and Armour 8(5), reducing the damage by 14 to 20

Varvost is reduced to 0 Wounds (13 Remaining)

Varvost suffers 13 Critical Damage

True Grit halves this (rounding up) to 7

Varvost's Divination of Only in Death Does Duty End reduces Critical Damage by 1 to 6

Rending 6 to the Head:

As the blow rips violently across the target's face - it takes with it an important feature...

D10: 3 Eye

Varvost suffers from Blood Loss and takes 1D5 levels of Fatigue: 2

Varvost's helmet comes off.

Tyber slid his blades away to line up a snap shot against one of the approaching Genestealers, having recalled how tough of a foe they can be if they get in close. With two quick bursts he sent rounds down range.

OOC:

BS Test against GS 1:

Left Hand (Nova marine Bolt pistol)

Target Number: 45 ((BS 45 – 20 Two weapons -10 range, +10 Ambidextrous +10 Semi-Auto Burst +10 Gunslinger + Size?)

BS test: 1d100 54 miss – Needs reload

Right Hand (Dragon bolt Pistol)

Target Number: 45 ((BS 45 – 20 Two weapons -10 range, +10 Ambidextrous +10 Semi-Auto Burst +10 Gunslinger + Size?)

BS test: 1d100 78 Miss – Needs reload

Sure looks like the dice just didn't want to play nice for me today...

Will use dodge as needed against any powerful hit....

TN: 68 (Agi 48+20 from skill)

dodge +20: 1d100 19

Really? Now the dice want to work with me...

Atratus saw Varvost vanish into the xenos horde in a spray of blood and limbs, reckless in the extreme he yet had an odd understanding of when the xenos were vulnerable, the critical moment before they could strike.

Not waiting to see the outcome of the venture Atratus called for fresh assault, confident in Varvosts instincts as the cloud of gargoyles broke before him to reveal the forms of genestealers breaking cover and exposed as they sought to cover the last short distance to the kill team.

Tyber had already reacted to the threat as Atratus lept forward blindsiding the first of the genestealers as he crashed down from above. Not slowing to see the results of his work, knowing the others would answer the call, his momentum carried him into a second as he set to his task with blades in both hands to match those of the xenos before him

Big pile of rolls.

Call for Furious Assault (free action)

Charge - genestealer engaged by Tyber, unless it dies to bolt pistol fire.

Roll to hit 52 vs WS 83 - hit and three extra DoS for 4 total

Damage (death from above) = 3d10+16 tearing, Pen 3 = 24+16 = 31 wounds to first target (after toughness/armour)

Assassin strike talent to leap to next target = 35 vs target 70 = success

Full attack, two weapons, vs new genestealer

Attack 1 - roll to hit 28 vs WS 63 - hit

Attack 2 - roll to hit 30 vs WS 63 - hit

Attack 3 - roll to hit 21 vs WS 63 - hit

Damage 1 - roll 5 +16, pen 3 = 12 wounds

Damage 2 - roll 9 +16, pen 3 = 16 wounds

Damage 3 - roll 5 +16, pen 3 = 12 wounds (all adjusted for 6 toughness, 6 armour)

Pre-emptive roll for parry (if attacked) or dodge (if all genestealers engaged) = 49 = pass

Pre-emptive counter attack = 5 vs WS 53, for 9+16 damage = 16 wounds

The Raptors may love their sniper rifles but they get a lot of the really good assault talents on their list :p
