Argus slid into cover next to Achillion behind the crates, the bolt pistol already mag-locked to his hip and both hands now holding the Plasma Gun into his shoulder. He quickly blinked-clicked through the threat assessment runes in his helmets display. Threat Primus: Killa Kans, Vorr would make short work of. Threat Secundus: Mega-Armoured Mek, no clear shot. Threat Tertius: Heavily armed Lootas, that would work.

 

Bringing his weapon up, Argus saw his weapon’s red laser painting over a heavily armed greenskin to his right. He pulled the trigger once and a ball of incandescent light, as bright as young star, fired out towards the Ork. It struck its arm, breaching through its crude armour plating and charring the stinking green flesh to the bone. Argus had experience fighting these vile xenos and knew that even an injury this grievous would not take it out of the fight.

Embes feet find purchase on the raised deck, as he quickly turns his head around to locate his next target. The assortment of foes is almost like a shooting range, dumbfounded orks making for static, easy targets. However, Embe is neither a Tactical marine, nor a Devastator. As he senses that the machine spirit of his combi-bolter is pleased to have drawn blood, so too does he sense the hunger in the chapter relic under his care, eager to cut down the alien. A wish that its wielder is happy to grant.

 

Looking down, the ork he fired upon yet stands, hardy alien physiology resisting the damage of the bolter. It wouldn’t do to leave a kill unfinished. Split-second tactical decision made, the Celestial Lion charges forth, jump pack allowing him to close the gap in seconds and thrust the power-blade into the chest of the greenskin, plunging through the internal organs and severing the spine before it comes poking out the other side, at which point Embe pulls it out, leaving the xeno to fall to the ground. The power field of the Lightning Bolt hums, pleased, yet hungry for more…

As Argus dispatched the Wrekka with a clean blast to the head, Gideon smiled and thought to himself, 'Another Greenskin slain.' 

 

As he moved once more towards the crates where an Ork Wrekka had once been standing by, Gideon swiftly holstered his Bolt Pistol, and replacing it with his Meltagun. With no doubt Vorr would be targeting the crippled Killa-Kan, so Gideon decided that to thin the Orks which may have obscured the Devastator's attack, would assist his Devastator brother to no end. He raised his Meltagun, and unleashed a blast towards the Loota.

Titus raced up the stairs and raised his Stalker again. Huntsman was still hungry for prey. Two greenskins hunkered down on the raised platform, now fully aware of the Astartes Kill-Team tearing through their ranks. Two targets. The first was nearer and equipped with a dangerous looking buzzsaw blade, but it was still out of immediate threat range. The second beast was much further away, but what appeared to be a looted autocannon was rigged across its broad shoulders. The Hunter's choice was easy, pragmatic, and obvious.

 

Free Action: Titus calls for Bolter Assault (Cohesion cost paid, available for rest of battle):

Achillion felt the tranquility of battle fall over him. The punishing drills that he'd subjected Swordhand to back on the Watch Station were paying dividends as his brothers unleashed a storm of fury upon the xenos. The true test of mettle would not come from dull Orkoid cannon fodder, but from their elite, and Achillion hungered to coat Libra in the blood of his foes.

 

 The blood of his foes...

 

A millisecond of lost focus was enough to cause a snarl to erupt from the Librarian's ruined face. Achillion swung free from the cover, almost clashing into the Blood Raven beside him as he brought his bolt pistol back up to bear. 

 

The black and red clouding the borders of his vision were banished with a short, controlled exhalation of the Angel's warm breath and a familiar tightening of the knuckles around the haft of his axe.

 

The pistol kicked in his grip as the bolt struck one of the orks turning to face down his squad through the thigh.

 

As Achillion took cover from the inevitable hail of inaccurate fire, he felt his power coursing through the psi-lattices within Libra. Letting his pistol slip back to his hip, he prepared himself to unleash the ferocity of Baal, the engraved curve of the blade beginning to glow and thrum in rhythm with the Librarian's hearts.

Catching a glimpse of a Killa Kan, Embe finds it wise to seek cover from their weaponry. The crude ork contraption seems to be sturdy cover, assuming the Orks would even risk shooting at the device protecting their life-sustaining atmosphere.
 

Giving his jump pack a break, he quickly moves to interpose the xeno device between himself and the enemy walkers, leaning around and taking a swift shot at another ork. Perhaps too swift however, as the round hits the crate, and though it does penetrate, fails to strike the legs of the ork on the other side, colliding with the wall behind it instead.
 

Bolter Assault Actions:
Charge move behind the generator out of view of the Killa Kans, but in view of Ork G, no Jump Pack needed.
Attack with Bolter half of Combi-melta at Ork G:
BS36, +10 (Short Range) +10 (Hulking Target) = 56, Roll: 69, Miss

As the Kill Team once again let their Bolt Weapons roar, Gideon quickly returned his Meltagun once again to it's maglocked location, swapping it in favour of his Boltgun. Gideon moved towards the large generator that had the cables attached to it. He raised his Boltgun, and let it's machine spirit roar. But as he moved towards the generator, perhaps by cause of the Ork contraption, Gideon's bolt flew past the Ork by barely inches, detonating a ways behind it.

 

Bolter Assault Actions:

Charge towards Generator.

Attack with Boltgun against Ork K.

Moving into the scant cover of the crates against which currently dripped with the blood of xenos filth, Argus took a moment to assess the tactical situation. The Stormbringer was deftly clearing the elevated position with precise bolter fire. The Red Talon and Silver Skull were bringing their meltas to bear against the greenskin armour to the right with the Angel Encarmine and Celestial Lion moving in to support. His attention turned towards the lowly Gretchin. Filthy weak creatures, but they could be an annoyance in sufficient numbers. By the grace of the Emperor, he would thin their ranks. Argus activated and threw a frag grenade with his left hand into their midst.

Titus pressed forward as soon as the first bolt left the Stalker's muzzle, aiming a few inches to the left, his mind working with transhuman speed. He fired again. The first shot would strike the creature's right shoulder, almost certainly not enough to kill it outright - the Hunter was well aware how resilient an Ork could be. However, the explosive impact would spin the greenskin around from where it stood looking out across the hangar. Turning it to face him. Presenting its centre mass. Where the second round should be enough to put it down for good.

 

Regular Actions:

Half Action: Move 6m along platform (trying to maintain Support Range as the team move eastwards).

Half Action: Standard Shot at Loota J.

Taking in the tactical positioning of his brothers, Achillion scanned the field of battle from behind the generator. Spotting the armoured monstrosity lurking near its overlord, he grimaced in disgust.

 

The Codicier witnessed the calculated fury of Embe next to him, his jump pack hissing as it rapidly cooled from its brief use. Quickly glancing around, he spotted Gideon and Argus.

 

"Brother Gideon and Brother Argus, lay down withering fire on the Greenskin leader and the walker beside it!" Achillion's orders were barely understandable as he snarled them over the sounds of bolter fire.

 

Over the squad-wide vox he called to the other side of the hangar; "Brother Titus, continue your assault on the upper platform, clear our left flank! Brother Embe, slay the creatures on the right flank and clear the path for Brother Vorr!"

 

With his heads-up display tracking threats all around them, he addressed the Red Talon:

 

"Devastator, destroy that heretical pile of scrap!" The Librarian let the final command rip free from his mouth with a grin, confident that Swordhand could bring this dangerous fight to a swift end.

 

Taking the initiative, Achillion swung past Chaka and ran at full sprint, ducking under the right wing of the wing of the Warhawk and coming to a stop shy of the threat range of the more menacing Ork targets. Closing his eyes and drawing deep from within, the Angel prepared to unleash a psychic storm upon the armoured foes. The faintest suggestions of hoarfrost began to tip-toe across the glasscrete panes of the Stormhawk as the whites of Achillion's eyes took on a crimson hue.

 

Regular Actions:
Full Action: Run ~25m to come to a stop by the wing-tip of the Stormhawk (trying to stay out of the lumbering charge range of the Mega-Mek and using the Warhawk for cover against any ranged attacks).

Trusting the judgement of the Librarian, Argus raised the Plasma Gun and sighted at the Greenskin Leader in its vulgar mockery of power armour. The weapon hummed as the coils began to glow brightly. The puckered scar tissue along his right arm began to itch with the memory of plasma burns. Without hesitation he loosed two orbs of fire at the xenos. His helm display dimmed to near black as one of the orbs struck true, filling the entire hangar with blinding light.

As a result of the chaos which had now broken out within the Hangar, Gideon could only percieve a short burst of the Codiciers orders. Despite this, what he did hear was 'Walker'- a target that was very much in the line of sight of the Silver Skull. Swiftly maglocking his Boltgun (again), he drew his Meltagun, and aimed for a brief moment: before firing. As the superheated projectile flew and impacted against the walker, Gideon took a brief moment of satisfaction as the ramshackle vehicle attempted to resist the power of the Melta projectile.

Receiving orders to slay the enemy fodder, Embe is quick to oblige.

Chaka activates his Jumppack and swiftly rises above the xeno abomination, going into a massive assisted leap over it, ending right in the midst of the enemy. The Gretchin scatter and flee from the site of impact, but several aren’t fast enough, getting cut in half or crushed underneath the soles of the Celestial Lions powered boots.

Black smoke, conjured by the huffing power unit of Embes armor, washes over the site of impact, as Embe looks over the remaining greenskins. Several are already running for the most distant corners of the hangar they can find, broken by the sudden display of death, while the rest are nervously clutching their primitive weapons as Embe's hulking silhouette draws closer, illuminated red eyes inspecting his prey.

The landing bay is cavernous enough that the Celestial Lion can describe a perfect parabolic arc. His jump pack flares white-hot as he crashes down amongst the Gretchin, atop the hull of Warhawk. Some of the greenskins are able to push their way free, cogniscent of their oncoming doom. Others are unable to get free in time and are crushed utterly beneath the weight of a transhuman warrior clad in powered armour. Their bones splinter and shatter as they are instantly pulped.

 

The Umbani Wezulu, a relic weapon of the Celestial Lions, crackles with the corposant fire for which it is named; the greenskin blood that coats its powered killing edges boiling off almost instantly.

 

The six assembled Astartes of Swordhand have struck with a coordinated fury. Where, mere minutes ago, the bay had been filled with Orks and Gretchin, now there are corpses and the mangled remains of the armoured walkers littering the deck.

 

The Mega-Armoured Mek's bestial face twists in a mixture of surprised rage at being interrupted, and joyous glee at fighting the Astartes.

 

"Get out 'ere and get stuck in!" he roars, stamping his feet as more of the Greenskins spill from their ramshackle landing craft.
