Primaris Relics

I'm in the process of rebooting my Iron Hands. My plan is to make all my infantry Primaris. While building my list, I noticed that, as written, some relics just arent available to Primaris characters. Running down this list...

Armour Indomitus - available. Looks like it could be a very decent buff for a Gravis Captain, too.

Shield Eternal - unavailable. Replaces storm shield or combat shield, neither of which are available to Primaris.

Standard of the Emp. Ascendant - available.

Teeth of Terra - unavailable, as it replaces a chainsword. Very disappointing, seeing how nasty this thing would make a Primaris LT.

Primarch's Wrath - unavailable. Can only be taken my models with a boltgun or master-crafted boltgun. Sad.

Burning Blade - available (replaces power sword or master-crafted power sword). Great, but do I really want this thing over the Teeth of Terra?

Tome of Malcador - available.

Axe of Medusa - unavailable (replaces power axe) and I'm kind of salty about it. Not that it's a particularly awesome relic, but it's my chapter's relic and I'd love to use it.

Raven's Fury - unavailable. Jump pack characters only.

Mantle of the Stormseer - available.

Fist of Vengeance - unavailable. Unless boltstorm gauntlets count as power fists somehow.

Sanctic Halo - available (?) An Ultramarines primaris captain is still an Ultramarines Captain, right? (Related question: if the answer is yes, can a Primaris Captain and/or Gravis Captain receive the Chapter Master stratagem?)

Crusader's Helm - available. I'm jealous of this one.

Spartean - available.

Do I have this right?

In any case, which relics have you been running on your Primaris marines, and how have they performed?

For Sanctic Halo, "primaris" and "captain" are two separate keywords (if "Primaris Captain" was one entry then it would be different), so an Ultramarines primaris captains should get it. Similarly the "Chapter Master" stratagem should be ok for the same reason.

Primaris Captains can indeed take a power fist. Otherwise the limited edition captain is illegal.

Cpt_Reaper is partially correct. The power fist has to be paired with a plasma pistol to be a legal armament.

From Codex: Space Marines FAQ, Ver 1.1

Primaris Captain, Wargear Options

Change the second bullet point to read: ‘This model may take a power sword, or replace its master-crafted auto bolt rifle and bolt pistol with a

power fist and a plasma pistol.’

You know, one thing I loved about space marines was the ability for great customization with almost any option that you wanted. Priamris seem to be limiting these factors quite a bit these days :(

lack of customization seems to be a theme across most newer models and armies though, tbh I expect even regular marines to eventually go that way (assuming they dont get phased out of course). Just look at AoS. You have options for the models available.

I use regular characters' rules with my primaris army for this reason. Statwise it hardly makes a difference. Nobody ever complained that my Primaris Characters use regular rules. I do make it clear up front.

I've made a primaris Aggressor Librarian that I use as a Terminator Librarian. I'm also planning on converting a "Shrike" from an Inceptor. Stuff like that, it's no big deal.

Yes he is, since he has faction keyword <Chapter> and keyword Captain. Same goes for Chapter Master.

I would not be surprised that chainsword becomes an option for them. After all the BA upgrade sprue have them and replacing the power sword for a chain sword on the captain might become legit.

Primarch's wrath should really be able to replace master crafted auto-bolt rifle. It's a sad overlook.

These are the two most likely to be included in a future FAQ.
